Since the 1970s, western countries began to adjust their laws relating to de facto marriage so that the two parties of the cohabitation relationship have certain rights and obligations to each other. Some of the Chinese legal provisions on de facto marriage are too general and need to be interpreted, while others have loopholes and need to be amended. 80
