1 章 勇 敏 教 授 宁 波 诺 丁 汉 大 学 浙 江 省 宁 波 市 泰 康 东 路 199 号, 邮 编 (0574) , 个 人 情 况 综 述 : 章 勇 敏 教 授 于 1967 年 生 于 浙 江 宁 波, 就 读 于 著 名 的 宁 波 中 学, 在 高 中 期 间 多 次 获 得 全 国 中 学 生 数 理 化 竞 赛 优 胜 奖, 并 于 毕 业 时 取 得 总 分 全 班 第 一, 因 此 被 学 校 免 试 包 送 到 复 旦 大 学 数 学 系 就 读 在 复 旦 大 学 学 习 期 间, 他 连 续 四 年 以 全 班 成 绩 第 一 获 得 一 等 奖 学 金,1989 年 获 得 学 士 学 位, 同 时 获 得 法 国 UAP 数 学 奖, 此 奖 用 于 奖 励 数 学 毕 业 班 学 习 成 绩 第 一 的 学 生 他 于 同 年 免 试 升 读 复 旦 大 学 研 究 生, 并 作 为 复 旦 大 学 唯 一 代 表 ( 校 内 选 拔 考 试 第 一 名 ) 参 加 了 由 美 国 数 学 会 与 美 国 工 业 与 应 用 数 学 会 组 织 的 王 宽 诚 项 目 公 派 赴 美 读 博 选 拔 考 试 最 后, 他 以 优 异 的 成 绩 获 得 了 仅 有 的 全 国 五 个 名 额 之 一, 并 同 时 被 五 所 全 美 最 著 名 的 大 学 以 全 额 奖 学 金 录 取, 其 中 包 括 芝 加 哥 大 学 (University of Chicago), 加 州 理 工 学 院 (California Institute of Technology) 等 学 校 他 于 1990 进 入 芝 加 哥 大 学 数 学 系 攻 读 博 士 学 位, 在 读 博 期 间 兼 任 芝 大 的 本 科 数 学 教 学 工 作, 协 助 芝 大 生 物 系 教 授 建 立 人 口 基 因 重 组 的 数 学 模 型, 帮 助 芝 大 医 学 院 教 授 设 计 骨 关 节 连 接 的 数 学 计 算, 同 时 被 几 家 大 学 聘 为 兼 职 教 授, 另 外 曾 在 GE 医 疗 仪 器 研 究 部 建 立 X 光 扫 描 成 像 的 数 学 模 型 与 软 件 系 统, 在 IBM 从 事 SPSS 软 件 的 开 发 章 勇 敏 教 授 于 1997 年 获 得 美 国 芝 加 哥 大 学 博 士 学 位, 他 的 博 士 论 文 是 关 于 自 由 边 界 问 题 的 数 值 解 法, 这 一 研 究 在 能 源 工 程 与 金 融 工 程 方 面 有 广 泛 应 用, 其 中 包 括 水 电 站 管 理 石 油 运 输 期 权 定 价 最 优 投 资 组 合 等 领 域 其 中 一 篇 关 于 自 由 边 界 问 题 的 多 层 投 影 快 速 算 法 的 文 章 获 得 美 国 第 十 一 届 应 用 数 学 年 会 杰 出 论 文 奖 另 一 个 重 要 工 作 是 把 离 散 最 大 值 原 理 从 微 分 方 程 推 广 到 变 分 不 等 式 从 而 改 进 了 由 德 国 著 名 数 学 家 Nitsche 在 三 十 多 年 前 建 立 的 对 障 碍 物 问 题 有 限 元 解 法 的 一 个 经 典 结 果 毕 业 后, 他 进 入 美 国 纽 约 州 立 大 学 研 究 基 金 会 担 任 研 究 科 学 家, 创 建 多 相 流 界 面 跟 踪 法 在 弯 曲 几 何 坐 标 下 的 数 学 模 型, 开 发 超 大 型 科 学 计 算 的 激 波 模 拟 软 件 系 统, 他 是 二 十 多 年 来 第 一 个 成 功 实 现 在 弯 曲 几 何 1

Established the link between liquidity commonality and price comovement in commodity futures markets. 2. Developed liquidity adjusted futures pricing models with improved accuracy and predicting powers compared to standard models. 3. Created option valuation models and hedging strategies for Wells Fargo s mortgage pipelines with balance of US$100 billions. 4. Developed cash flow models for Wells Fargo s reverse mortgage products. 5. Built cost of variability models for hedging Wells Fargo s mortgage pipelines. 6. Developed look back option models with hurdle adjustments in mortgage lending. 15

Developed fast algorithms (Multilevel Projection Algorithm) for solving a class of free boundary problems called obstacle problems which arise from the filtration dam problem, the Stefan problem, and the American option pricing models. 21. Multilevel Projection Algorithm has won Outstanding Paper Award at Eleventh Annual Conference on Applied Mathematics. 22. Derived a general condition for the convergence of free boundaries of discrete solutions to the free boundary of the continuous solution. The interface between wetted and unwetted regions in dam problem and early exercise boundary of American options are typical free boundaries. 23. Established a monotonicity principle for a finite element approximation of obstacle problem. Obtained an optimal error estimate under maximum norm which improved two well-known results established by Nitsche and Baiocchi thirty years ago. 24. Developed a numerical model for a Bingham fluid flow in a cylindrical pipe using a regularization method. 16

Developed and implemented numerical algorithms for a stochastic multiphase fluid mixing model. 26. Discovered an asymmetry effect ( North Pole Effect ) on axisymmetric flow and analyzed this effect on various statistics of the chaotic fluid mixing by carrying out Monte Carlo simulations. 27. These algorithms have been adopted by U.S. Department of Energy for simulating inertial confinement fusion reactors. 多 项 超 音 速 流 与 激 波 的 数 值 方 法 (Numerical Methods for Multiphase Supersonic Flow and Shock Waves) 28. Developed the first robust front tracking algorithms in curved geometries. 29. Implemented these algorithms into a flow simulation package FronTier in C/C++. The code has been applied to various fluid instability problems: Gravity and shock driven instabilities, turbulent mixing and combustion, and diesel jet flow. 30. Conducted a quantitative error and efficiency analysis for the FronTier code. 31. Analyzed a scaling law for the shock strength in spherical shock driven mixing. 星 球 爆 炸 中 的 辐 射 与 湍 流 形 成 过 程 的 计 算 机 模 拟 (Simulations for Radiation and Turbulent Processes in Star Explosions) 32. Conducted front tracking simulations for the first spherically diverging, hydrodynamically unstable laboratory experiments of relevance to supernova. Front tracking gave a better agreement with laser experiments than other codes. This work has gained international recognition including several leading groups on laser experiments such as, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory and Universities of Michigan, etc. 33. Developed radiation-coupled front tracking algorithms in collaboration with laser researchers in University of Michigan. 34.
