Art Creation of and Research on the Images of Women s Space

Abstract This paper uses a feminist perspective as the foundation and art history as the starting point, with the focus on gender and space as the topic, and explores the societal spatial meaning of the reappearance of female art as the research direction. The research subjects are mainly female artists in Taiwan, and the focus is on the creative display of works related to female spatial imagery in order to further explore the changes and meanings of female space. The main research problems of this thesis are: exploring the spatial environment (location) factors of the female image in relevant works; exploring the display methods of gender division of space in relevant works; exploring the relationship between the female s personal and played roles to their status in the current society in the relevant works; the connection between the social structure and the art created by Taiwan female artists in the continuously changing society; and the artist interpretation of her own understanding of female spatial imagery embodied in individual works. The research and creative process involves literature review and analysis, building creative ideas, and practicing creation as the research framework. The literature review discusses the researches on Western female art, which contain more results, and compares to the development of Taiwan female artists, in order to identify the reappearing spatial imagery of female art. At the same time, through the literature review, it aims to outline the real meaning of female space, and further constructs the personal creative ideas to be presented in individual artistic creations.
