Heart Rate Variability Analysis of Acupuncture on ADHD Children Abstract Jing-Li Wu 1, Hsueh-O Shen 2, Fong-Wei Wu 3, Bo-Ming Huang 1* 1 Chinese Medicine Department of St. Joseph s Hospital, Taiwan 2 Social Work Office of St. Joseph s Hospital, Taiwan 3 Pediatric Neurology of St. Joseph s Hospital, Taiwan Objective: To evaluate attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) children with acupuncture by heart rate variability (HRV) analysis and inquiry assessment of Chinese Medicine constitution for harmonizing effect on the heart rhythm. Methods: Thirty two ADHD children were included in this study; we compared the participants before and after acupuncture therapy on HRV and score of ADHD index. Furthermore, we compared heart rate variability in children according to group of Chinese Medicine constitution. Results: In this study, yang pattern group, most participants (61.11%), was related with LF/HF ratio. Compared yang group (Ya / T 0.53) and non- yang group (Ya / T 0.53), we founded the significantly differences of LF/HF ratio and LF power in normalized units (nlf) in post-test. Conclusion: Acupuncture could be a therapy help to improve ADHD symptoms of children.
