The Study on the Contemporary Culture of Film Festivals in Taichung Area StudentChu-Yen Chen AdvisorDr. Chia-Sen Huang Prof.Yushan Huang Graduate Institute of Fine Arts National Taichung University ABSTRACT The study intented to recognize the affects of the Contemporary Film Festival Culture toward Taichung area, thus mapping the meaning of the Film Festival Culture in Taichung area through three dimensions about the history, the practice and the social developing rule. In 1980,Taiwanese movies were appealing to explore the global film market,that made Film Festival behave as accelerating the movie industry. And the Festive Culture presented a significant phenomenon about movie industry after 1990. Under such atmosphere,the staffs in Taichung area cultivated numerous Art Film audiences through activities of festivals. But Copyright Law made the social source assign again, the public sectors got more power than private sectors, and looked for set up local image culture and international trading platform. However it not only depends on public sectors s effective strategies,the staffs who could design International Film Festerval and comment are indispensably required. It is the important direction of the future to develop the economical worth of Film Festival. Both the public and private sectors propelled the Contemporary Film Festival,which is the very important crucial to prosper the movie industries in Taichung.
