2 Safety Precautions Must be followed! In order to prevent accidents or injury to the user, other people, and damage to property, please follow the instructions below. The rust prevention paper located between the pan and the heating plate must be removed before using. The following chart indicates the degree of damage caused by wrong operation. WARNING: CAUTION: Indicates hazard that may cause death or severe injury. Indicates hazard that may cause human injuries or property damage. Classifi cation of instructions that need to be strictly followed uses the following symbols to distinguish the instruction types. These symbols mean prohibition. These symbols indicate requirement that must be followed. English Plug in tightly. (Improper plugging may cause electrical shock or fi re due to heat generation.) Do not use a damage plug or warped outlet. Do not plug or unplug the rice cooker with wet hands. Prohibited (It may cause electrical shock.) Do not place your hands or face over or near the steam cap. Do not touch (To avoid injuries from burn hazard.) Do not damage the power cord or power plug. Following are extremely prohibited disassembling, bringing near hot surface, bending, twisting, pulling, Prohibited placing heavy objects on top or tying a bundle. (The damaged power cord could result in electrical shock or fi re.) If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a special cord or assembly available from the manufacturer or its service agent. Do not insert metal objects such as pins and needles, or any other foreign objects in the exhaust outlets, or any other portion of the unit. Do not use the rice cooker if the power cord or power plug is damaged or the power plug is loosely connected to the power outlet. (It may result in electric shock, short circuit or fi re) This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. 3 Safety Precautions Must be followed! Close supervision is necessary when the rice cooker is used by or near children or persons handicapped in any manner. (It may result in burning injuries) Do not immerse the rice cooker in water or other liquids. Prohibited WARNING (It may result in electrical shock.) If water leaks inside the rice cooker, please consult your nearest retailer or service center. Do not attempt to disassemble any of the part or repair them by yourself. (It may result in electrical shock or fi re.) The rice cooker must be repaired only by the authorized service center. Do not disassemble. Do not operate the rice cooker near water or fire and do not put the pan directly to the open flame. CAUTION The rice cooker becomes hot when in use, especially the pan and lid heating plate. Do not directly touch them with your hands. English Do not touch the pan. Prohibited (It may result in electrical shock or fi re.) Do not touch (It results in burnt injuries.) Make sure the rice cooker is completely cool before touching or cleaning it. (To avoid injuries from being burnt.) Be sure to grasp the power plug itself to disconnect it. Do not pull the cord. Do not place the rice cooker on an unstable surface or on a carpet, electric carpet, table clothes (ethylene plastic) or other object that cannot resist high temperature. Do not press on the outer lid release button when the rice cooker is being carried or moved. (If the outer lid is accidentally open, it may result in burning injuries.) Do not touch Always disconnect the rice cooker from the power supply outlet before taking the pan out or when the rice cooker is not in use. Unplug (It may result in electrical shock.) Do not place the rice cooker near a wall or furniture. Prohibited (The steam may result in color changes or deformation of any objects.) Always place it 30 cm or more away from the wall and furniture. Watch out the steam coming off the rice cooker. 4 Usage Precautions Avoiding damages to the rice cooker. Do not cover the outer lid with a cloth. The outer lid may deform, crack or discolor and result in malfunction. Do not place the rice cooker in direct sunlight. Do not use the pan directly on an open flame, electric burner or in a heated oven. Always keep the surface of the pan and the heating plate clean and dry. lt may result in malfunction. Foreign matter Heating Plate Thermostat English Do not put the food directly into the body without using the pan. Any foreign matter may cause malfunction. Do not continue holding a switch button. Avoiding damages to the pan. Do not leave the rice scoop or any other objects inside the pan. The pan should be cleaned immediately after cooking with seasonings or condiments. Do not use the pan as mixing utility. Do not use metal utensils that can scratch or crack the pan. The coated surface of the pan will gradually wear away, so use with care. 6 HOW TO USE (Rice Cooking) 1. Measure rice with the measuring cup provided (refer to the specifi cations table on last page). Wash the rice in a separate bowl until water is relatively clear. Bowl 2. Put the washed rice into the pan. Add water according to the water level indicator on the pan. For example, when cooking 5 cups of rice, pour water until water level indicator 5. The water level indicator of the pan is for reference. Adjust the amount of water to your personal taste. Level the rice evenly after water adjustment is completed. 3. Place the pan into the body. Make sure that the pan is directly in contact with heating plate by turning it slightly to the right and to the left until it sits properly. NOTE: If the outer surface of the pan is wet, it may cause a cracking noise when the rice cooker heats up. This may damage the rice cooker, so make sure that it is in dry condition before use. 4. Close the outer lid until it clicks. Please make sure that the steam cap is properly attached. English NOTE: If the outer lid is not closed securely, the cooking efficiency will be affected. 5. Attach the connector to the rice cooker socket and plug to the power supply source. Plug NOTE: Do not plug in until just before start to cook. 6. Press the select switch to Rice and switch on the power supply source. The keeping warm indicator will light up when power supply source is ON. To start cooking, press the switch button down. Cooking indicator will light up, indicating that rice cooking has been started. NOTE: If the pan is not placed in body, the switch button cannot be engaged when press down. Be aware of the hot steam comes out from the steam cap on top of the outer lid during cooking. Do not cover the outer lid with a cloth or anything during cooking or keeping warm because deformation or discoloration may occur. Connector 7. When the cooking is completed, the switch button will pop up. At the same time, the cooking indicator will goes off and the keeping warm indicator will light up indicating that the keep warm function has been taken place. The outer lid should remain closed even after the cooking process is completed for at least 15 minutes. Then mix the rice well with rice scoop to allow vapor to escape. NOTE: After the cooking process is completed, the keep warm process will take place automatically until the main supply is off. Open the outer lid slowly as to avoid water dripping out from the outer lid. The switch button should not be pressed into the cooking position during the keep warm cycle. Do not keep warm for more than 5 hours. Do not close the outer lid with the rice sticking to the rim of the pan. It will reduce the effectiveness of the keep warm operation. 8. 7 To Keep Cooked Rice Warm and Tasty For better cooking performance and avoid burnt at the bottom, minimum rice cooking is 3 cups. Rinse the rice until it becomes relatively clear. After the rice has been steamed and warmed, scoop and mix the rice gently. Do not leave the rice scoop inside the pan. Do not warm the rice for more than 5 hours. (It may result in color change and bad smell.) Do not use the rice cooker to warm other kinds of food. Do not warm cold rice. Note: Variations in the room temperature may cause the rice to discolor and lose its fresh smell. Unplug the rice cooker when it is not used. 8 HOW TO STEAM FOOD (Using the Steaming Basket) 1. With the measuring cup provided, put 2 cups of water into the pan. 2. Place the Steaming basket into the pan. Steaming Basket Water 3. Place the pan into the body. Place food into the steaming basket. (Place the food in separate dish if required) If the outer surface of the pan is wet, it may cause a cracking noise when the rice cooker heats up. This may damage the rice cooker, so make sure that it is in dry condition before use. Make sure that the steam cap is properly attached. English 4. Close the outer lid until it clicks. Please make sure that the steam cap is properly attached. Attach the connector to the rice cooker socket and plug to the power supply source. Press the switch button to cooking function. The cooking indicator will light up. If outer lid is not securely closed, steaming effi ciency will be affected. Do not plug in until just before start to steam. If the pan is not in the body, steaming will not begin. Press the select switch to Rice before press the switch button to cooking function. Connector 5. Steaming period is done manually by checking the condition of the food from time to time. * This rice cooker will automatically switch to keeping warm when the water inside the pan becomes empty. * Open the outer lid slowly as to avoid water dripping out from the outer lid. 6. When steaming is completed, turn off the rice cooker by switching off the power supply source and unplug, The keeping warm function continues until the power supply source is switched off. Plug 7. Take the food out, followed by steaming basket, and fi nally pour out the water from the pan. Remarks Wait until the food cools down and no steam is coming from the steam cap before opening the outer lid. Then check whether the food is cooked as desired. When rice is cooked while steaming food, do not cook over 6 cups of rice and do not open the outer lid until the rice is cooked. 9 HOW TO USE (Porridge Cooking) 1. Measure rice with the measuring cup provided (refer to the specifications table below). Wash the rice in a separate bowl until water is relatively clear. Bowl 2. NOTE: If the outer lid is not closed securely, the porridge cooking efficiency will be affected. 5. Attach the connector to the rice cooker socket and plug to the power supply source. NOTE: Do not plug in until just before start to cook. Plug Connector 6. Press the select switch to Porridge position. When the power supply source is switched on, the keeping warm indicator will light up. To cook, press the switch button down. The cooking indicator will light up indicating that porridge cooking has been started. 10 How to Clean Be sure to unplug and carry out these operations when the rice cooker is cooled down. DO NOT use objects such as benzene, thinner, cleansing powder or metal scrubbers. Body / Outer Lid / Upper Rim Wipe with a damp cloth. * Remark : Clean after every use. Steam Cap How to remove and clean 1. Pull off the steam cap to remove it as shown in the fi gure. English Pan Wash with a dishwashing detergent or soft cloth. Wipe off any moisture on the outside. Heating Plate / Thermostat / Thermostat for Porridge 2. Remove the valve holder by turning it counterclockwise. Wash and wipe with a damp cloth. Rubber gasket DO NOT remove 3. Wipe the inside of the hole and heating plate with a damp cloth. If an object has stuck on the heating plate, lightly polish it off using fi ne sand paper (of about # 600) / steel wool. Then wipe with a damp cloth. Dew Collector Heating plate hole Please wipe it whenever you use it. Please do not remove the steam cap when the rice cooker is in use. Remove and clean after every use. Accessories How to assemble the steam cap 1. Insert the valve holder into the steam cap by aligning arrow mark of the valve holder A with the steam cap B and turn it clockwise until it sets properly. 2. (Ia boleh mengakibatkan kejutan elektrik atau kebakaran.) Periuk nasi mesti dibaiki oleh pusat perkhidmatan yang sah sahaja. Jangan cerai. Jangan letak periuk nasi di atas permukaan tidak rata atau di atas permaidani, permaidani elektrik, alas meja (plastik etilena) atau objek lain yang tidak dapat menahan suhu yang tinggi. Dilarang (Ia boleh terlangkup semasa penggunaan dan menyebabkan kebakaran.) Jangan tekan butang pelepas tudung luar semasa periuk nasi dibawa atau dialihkan. (Jika tudung luar terbuka secara tidak sengaja, ia boleh menyebabkan kecederaan melecur.) Jangan sentuh Bahasa Melayu Pastikan anda pegang palam kuasa itu sendiri untuk mencabutnya. Jangan tarik kord. (Selain itu, pegang badan periuk nasi sebelum mencabut palam.) (Ia boleh mengakibatkan kejutan elektrik atau kebakaran.) Jangan ganti periuk dengan bekas lain. Dilarang (Ia boleh menyebabkan suhu lebih tinggi dan kecederaan melecur.) Sentiasa cabut palam kuasa periuk nasi dari alur keluar bekalan kuasa sebelum mengeluarkan periuk atau apabila periuk nasi tidak digunakan. Cabut palam (Ia boleh mengakibatkan kejutan elektrik.) Jangan letak periuk nasi berhampiran dinding atau perabot. Jangan guna kord selain daripada kord kuasa yang dibekalkan dan jangan guna kord kuasa alat lain. 24 Langkah-langkah Penggunaan Mengelak kerosakan periuk nasi. Jangan tutup tudung luar dengan kain. Tudung luar mungkin akan berubah bentuk, retak atau berubah warna dan mengakibatkan pincang tugas. Jangan letak periuk nasi di bawah sinaran matahari. Jangan guna periuk di atas nyalaan terbuka, pembakar elektrik atau di dalam ketuhar yang dipanaskan. Sentiasa memastikan permukaan periuk dan plat pemanas bersih dan kering. Ia boleh mengakibatkan pincang tugas. Bahan asing Plat pemanas Termostat Jangan letak makanan terus ke dalam badan tanpa menggunakan periuk. Sebarang bahan asing boleh mengakibatkan pincang tugas. Jangan terus-menerus menekan butang suis. Bahasa Melayu Mengelak kerosakan periuk. Jangan biar senduk nasi atau sebarang objek lain di dalam periuk. Periuk harus dibersihkan segera selepas masak menggunakan perasa atau rempah. Jangan guna periuk sebagai bekas pengadun. Jangan guna perkakas logam yang boleh mencalar atau meretak periuk. 26 CARA PENGGUNAAN (Masak Nasi) 1. Sukat beras dengan cawan penyukat yang diberikan (rujuk jadual spesifi kasi pada halaman akhir). Cuci beras di dalam mangkuk berasingan sehingga air agak jernih. Mangkuk 2. Masukkan beras yang telah dicuci ke dalam periuk. Tambah air mengikut penunjuk paras air pada periuk. Contohnya, apabila memasak 5 cawan beras, tuangkan air sehingga penunjuk paras air 5. Penunjuk paras air periuk digunakan sebagai rujukan. Laraskan jumlah air mengikut cita rasa anda sendiri. Ratakan permukaan beras selepas selesai melaraskan air. 3. Masukkan periuk ke dalam badan. Pastikan periuk menyentuh plat pemanas dengan memusingkannya sedikit ke kanan dan ke kiri sehingga kedudukannya betul. NOTA: Jika permukaan luar periuk basah, ia boleh menyebabkan bunyi gemeretak apabila periuk nasi semakin panas. Ini boleh merosakkan periuk nasi. Oleh itu, pastikan ia dalam keadaan kering sebelum digunakan. 4. Tutup tudung luar sehingga berbunyi klik. Sila pastikan tudung wap dipasang dengan betul. NOTA: Jika tudung luar tidak ditutup dengan betul, kecekapan memasak akan terjejas. 5. Pasang penyambung ke soket periuk nasi dan pasangkan palam ke sumber bekalan kuasa. NOTA: Jangan pasang palam sehingga anda mahu mula memasak. 6. Tekan suis pemilih ke Rice dan hidupkan sumber bekalan kuasa. Penunjuk kekal panas akan menyala apabila sumber bekalan kuasa dihidupkan. Untuk mula memasak, tekan butang suis ke bawah. Penunjuk memasak akan menyala yang menunjukkan nasi mula dimasak. Palam Penyambung Bahasa Melayu NOTA: Jika periuk tidak diletakkan di dalam badan, butang suis tidak dapat digunakan apabila ditekan ke bawah. Berhati-hati dengan wap panas yang keluar dari tudung wap di bahagian atas tudung luar semasa memasak. Jangan tutup tudung luar dengan kain atau apa-apa benda semasa memasak atau kekal panas kerana perubahan bentuk atau perubahan warna boleh berlaku. 7. Apabila selesai memasak, butang suis akan terangkat. Pada masa yang sama, penunjuk memasak akan padam dan penunjuk kekal panas akan menyala yang menunjukkan fungsi kekal panas mengambil alih. Bilas beras sehingga ia menjadi agak jernih. Selepas nasi dikukus atau dipanaskan, senduk dan gaulkan nasi dengan lembut. Jangan biar senduk nasi di dalam periuk. Jangan panaskan nasi lebih daripada 5 jam. (Ia boleh menyebabkan perubahan warna dan bau yang busuk.) Jangan guna periuk nasi untuk memanaskan jenis makanan lain. Jangan panaskan nasi sejuk. Nota: Suhu bilik yang berubah-ubah boleh menyebabkan nasi berubah warna dan kehilangan bau segarnya. Cabut palam periuk nasi apabila tidak digunakan. Masukkan periuk ke dalam badan. Masukkan makanan ke dalam bekas mengukus (Letak makanan di dalam bekas berasingan jika perlu) Jika permukaan luar periuk basah, ia boleh menyebabkan bunyi gemeretak apabila periuk nasi semakin panas.
