括 約 肌 失 守 連 接 我 們 食 道 與 胃 部 的 肌 肉 賁 門 叫 下 食 道 括 約 肌, 專 責 防 止 胃 內 食 物 及 胃 酸 倒 流 入 食 道, 如 果 下 食 道 括 約 肌 鬆 弛, 就 會 令 到 胃 酸 倒 流 入 食 道 而 食 道 的 黏 膜 十 分 脆 弱, 若 長 久 受 到 胃 酸 刺 激 會 令 食 道 發 炎 潰 瘍 出 血 及 出 現 一 種 癌 前 病 變 的 情 況 ( 巴 洛 氏 食 道 ) 巴 洛 氏 食 道 是 指 一 些 病 人 的 正 常 食 道 細 胞 被 不 正 常 的 細 胞 取 代 了, 而 巴 洛 氏 食 道 與 食 道 癌 有 密 切 關 係

內 視 鏡 檢 查 對 診 斷 食 道 炎 非 常 有 用. 大 部 份 患 有 胃 食 道 反 流 病 之 病 患 者 在 內 視 鏡 檢 查 中 無 發 現 患 上 食 道 炎. 內 視 鏡 檢 查 是 一 種 介 入 和 昂 貴 的 檢 查, 而 且 在 檢 查 中 會 有 少 許 不 舒 適.

保 持 良 好 的 生 活 習 慣 少 食 多 餐, 每 餐 不 要 吃 得 過 飽, 保 持 正 常 體 重, 肥 胖 者 以 運 動 減 肥 避 免 吃 油 炸 肥 膩 及 辛 辣 的 食 物 或 酸 性 飲 品, 如 檸 檬 番 茄 薄 荷 洋 蔥 及 蒜 咖 啡 濃 茶 巧 克 力 吸 煙 及 酗 酒 進 餐 後 勿 立 即 睡 覺, 勿 平 臥 或 彎 曲 身 體, 若 平 躺 睡 覺 時 可 將 頭 及 胸 部 墊 高 一 些 睡 前 4 小 時 勿 進 食 及 戒 宵 夜 習 慣
