Academics 2015. 6 On the Production and Creation of the Chinese Children Literature with Focus on the Character of Old Woman in Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales Abstract Wicked witch magic power old woman these are the typical descriptions of the character of aged woman in the traditional European fairy tales. While in the traditional Chinese fairy tales or myths the aged woman is typically a kind reliable and helpful old granny. With the intensive communication between European countries America and China the contemporary Chinese children literature has been heavily influenced by the European fairy tales. Such elements as witch magic power and wicked old woman appear here and there in the contemporary Chinese children literature as a result of rigid imitation. We should borrow more things such as the structure of narration wonderful imagination embedded ideology from the European fairy tales and reduce the direct copy and rigid imitation of European fairy tales into Chinese context.
