5 Bachelor of Arts in Theology Learning Outcomes Upon completion of the programme, students will have: a critical understanding and appreciation of the interpretation of the Bible and Christian faith; knowledge and appreciation of Christian literature; understanding of the correlation between application of Christian belief and contemporary life contexts; a self-reflective attitude on student s own belief and value; and a foundation and life-long interest in learning the knowledge of Christianity. The first four alphabets denote the subjects and the course offering units. For instance, THEO indicates theology courses offered by Divinity School of Chung Chi College; while PHIL indicates philosophy courses offered by the Department of Philosophy. Students should consult the course offering units concerned for enquiries related to course registration and selection. 2. In the University, each unit of course should be regarded as equivalent to one contact hour per week for weeks in an academic term. Most three-unit courses are composed of three hours of lectures, or two hours of lecture and one hour of tutorial, per week. 3. 8 Bachelor of Divinity Purpose and Goals The BD programme is a post-baccalaureate degree that prepares students for ordination. The purpose of the programme is to equip students with knowledge and skills for ministerial leadership in the congregation and church-related institutions. Students enrolled in this programme possess more critical and in-depth grasp of the biblical tradition, appreciation of the Asian culture and context, and have a more developed understanding of the ministry and pastoral identity. Learning Outcomes To acquire a wide range of knowledge about Christianity; To develop good critical thinking and self-reflection abilities and holistic personal development; To qualify for the credentials of leadership roles in the church, the Christian community and society. Year of Attendance ( 修業年 ) indicates a student s cumulative years of attendance at the University. It depends on a student s year of admission regardless of the level of study. For a student admitted to BD-3 [or BD-4] curriculum with advanced academic standing, the Year of Study is Year 3 [or Year 2] in the first year of attendance. The programme of study includes biblical, historical, theological and practical studies plus other courses as needed or desired to prepare for ordination. The examination is held in early May every year. Before taking the examination, students are advised to complete at least four courses in Bible, three courses in Theology, two courses in History of Christianity and at least 11 courses altogether. There are two papers for the written examination. Students may answer the questions in either Chinese or English. Paper I is a three-hour closed book examination while Paper II is a four-hour open book examination. Students who fail in the examination may take a re-sit examination, which will normally take place by the end of September of the same year. Students who fail in the retrial should withdraw from the programme. Page 9 of 70

38 Master of Theology Purpose and Goals The MTheol programme aims to provide students with advanced competency in a specific area of theological discipline. The programme is a preparatory degree for further graduate study at the doctoral level, or for academic research and teaching that focuses on one area of discipline, or for students to develop advanced practicaltheological competence in a specific area of ministry. The goal of the programme is to provide the students with expertise for academic research, the ability to integrate what has been studied and the skills to relate their studies to their contexts. Learning Outcomes The students show advanced knowledge, mastery of a specific area of theological discipline; The students show advanced practical-theological competence in a specific area of ministry. Curriculum (Applicable to students admitted in and thereafter) Students are required to declare an area of concentration upon admission: (1) Biblical Studies (New Testament/ Hebrew Bible) (2) Systematic Theology/ Constructive Theology (3) History of Christianity (4) Christianity in China (5) Mission Studies/ Missiology (6) Practical Theology/ Pastoral Studies (7) Christianity and Society Coursework Requirements (24-36 units) Students are required to take units of postgraduate-level taught courses, out of which at least 12 units of courses must be taken from the declared area of concentration. The number of units of the coursework required depends on the academic qualifications the student attained prior to admission to the University. Comprehensive Examination (12 units) Comprehensive Examination is set after the completion of the coursework. The examination helps evaluate the candidates general proficiency to integrate all the disciplines taken in their chosen field, and their ability to engage in theological reflection against the historical and cultural background of Asia. The examination is consisted of two papers. Each paper lasts for three hours and is worth six units. Paper I covers the general contents of the students area of concentration; while Paper II covers the specific contents of the students area of concentration related to the student s research. Students are required to register for the courses THEO5940 Theological Studies: Seminar I and THEO5949 Theological Studies: Seminar II for the comprehensive examination. Research Paper (6 units) Students are required to complete an extended research paper in the area of concentration under individual supervision of an assigned supervisor with no less than 15,000 words in English or 22,000 characters in Chinese. 44 Doctor of Theology Purpose and Goals The purpose of the DTheol Degree is to provide students with advanced understanding and mastery of a specific area of theological discipline for teaching and research in theological schools and other institutions. The goal of the programme is to equip students with competence to engage in original research and writing in the discipline, critical knowledge of theological and other cognate disciplines that promote scholarship and fuller understanding of theological knowledge for the benefit of the ministry of church, academy and society. Learning Outcomes The programme shall demonstrate learning outcomes that reflect the goals of the programme and show evidence of students fuller mastery and competency in the area of discipline. Curriculum Areas of Concentration (1) Biblical Studies (New Testament/ Hebrew Bible) (2) Systematic Theology/ Constructive Theology (3) History of Christianity (4) Christianity in China (5) Mission Studies/ Missiology (6) Practical Theology/ Pastoral Studies (7) Christianity and Society Study Scheme Two methodology seminars or equivalent as recommended by supervisor(s) Any courses recommended by supervisor(s) A comprehensive examination consisting of three papers A research proposal and an oral examination 1 A dissertation of not more than 100,000 words in English or 150,000 characters in Chinese and an oral defence session 2 Remarks: 1. Within four calendar weeks from the end date of the comprehensive examination, a detailed proposal for the thesis is prepared by the student in consultation with his/her supervisor. The proposal must then be submitted to a panel composed of the supervisor and an internal examiner for an oral examination. 2. When the supervisor indicates that a thesis is ready for examination, a Thesis Assessment Committee composed of the supervisor, an internal examiner, and an external examiner will be formed to read the thesis. An oral defence session will then be arranged to determine if the thesis be given a pass. 50 Assessment, Examinations and Academic Honesty 4. A student who has gained a grade of D or above in a course shall earn the unit/s of that course. 5. Course Examinations (a) A student shall take course examinations, if prescribed by the teaching staff concerned, in the form of written, practical or oral assessment, or any combination thereof. (b) A student who for medical or other compelling reasons is unable to sit for any course examination shall apply in writing with documentary evidence at the earliest possible instance but in any case not later than five working days after the examination concerned to the course teaching staff for permission for absence. In the case of illness/injury, the application shall be accompanied by a certificate signed or countersigned by the Director of the University Health Service. (c) If a student s application for absence is successful, the student may be otherwise assessed at the discretion of the programme concerned. (d) A student who is absent from any examination without permission shall be given a failure (F) grade in that examination. 6. Late Submission and Non-submission of Assignments (a) Students are required to submit assignments by the deadline specified by the course teachers. (b) A student may apply for an extension of time to complete the assignments if there are personal circumstances which are unforeseen and unpreventable and have a serious effect on the student s ability to submit the work by the published submission deadline. (c) Any requests for extension must be made in writing to the Course Teacher concerned prior to the due date. Appropriate medical certification, or other relevant evidence confirming the circumstances, must be provided. (d) Students who fail to submit assignments will in most cases be given a zero mark for the missing component, which may in turn lead to a failure (F) grade in the course concerned. II Grade Appeal Policy 1. Students who have questions in relation to the grade obtained should first contact the course teacher to discuss the grade within two weeks from the date of release of the grade in question. This will provide a chance for both parties to review the examination script, paper or any other form of student work which has been assessed, together with the relevant course assessment scheme, grade distribution guidelines, etc. 2. Students who remain dissatisfied with their grade after discussion with the course teacher may appeal against a particular grade by submitting a written application to the Assessment Panel of Divinity School of Chung Chi College within TWO weeks from the date of issue of the academic results for the term concerned. No appeal for grade review will be accepted after the specified period. Page 50 of 70

Students who lodge an official grade appeal to the Assessment Panel should demonstrate that: the assessment was not conducted in accordance with the approved course regulations; or some specified procedural irregularity has occurred and affected the grading. A complaint about the academic judgment of an Examiner or the Assessment Panel is NOT a valid ground for grade appeals. 4. Upon receipt of a grade appeal application, the Chair of the Assessment Panel will determine whether the grounds of appeal are admissible. If there are prima facie grounds of appeal, the Chair will nominate not less than two faculty members to form an ad hoc grievance panel to review the assignment(s) concerned and consider the grade appeal application thoroughly. The ad hoc grievance panel will then make a recommendation on grade amendment (if any) for subsequent approval by the Assessment Panel. On appeal, the grade awarded may remain unchanged or be moderated down or up. III Academic Honesty The Chinese University of Hong Kong places very high importance on honesty in academic work submitted by students, and adopts a policy of zero tolerance on academic dishonesty. While "academic dishonesty" is the overall name, there are several sub-categories as follows: (i) Plagiarism (ii) Undeclared multiple submissions (iii) Buying or selling, possibly through third parties, papers/essays/dissertations (iv) Violating rules 15 or 16 of the Rules to be Observed by Candidates at Examination Centre (Examination Rules) (v) Cheating in tests and examinations (including violation of rules 17 or 18 of the Examination Rules (vi) Impersonation fraud in tests and examinations (including violation of rule 19 of the Examination Rules (vii) All other acts of academic dishonesty Any related offence will lead to disciplinary action including termination of studies at the University. Students should familiarise themselves with the content of the University s website (accessible at and thereby help avoid any practice that would not be acceptable. IV Plagiarism Plagiarism is the act of using the work of others (in particular the writing of others) as one's own. In academic writing, including open-book assessment, all types of source materials, including online resources, such as websites, electronic journals or articles in an online newspaper, MUST be properly acknowledged. All cases of failure to acknowledge, especially where there appears to be the intention to mislead the reader about the originality, would constitute plagiarism. In general, there shall be three elements to a citation or acknowledgement: 1. Setting the relevant text apart by quotation marks, or by using a separate indented paragraph; 2. A reference to the original source; 3. A bibliography, giving the list of references. It is important to note that just (3) alone is NOT enough. In other words, just listing the source in the bibliography is no defence against a charge of plagiarism. The reason is that inclusion in the bibliography only means that the item was consulted; it does not indicate that the item was copied or used verbatim. Page 51 of 70

Teachers shall report cases of suspected academic dishonesty to the disciplinary committee concerned. If the charge is established, the penalty guidelines are as follows: (a) For a first offence, a minimum penalty of (i) one demerit; and (ii) a mark of zero for that component of the course and (iii) completion of relevant training in academic honesty. (b) For a second or further offence, and for a first offence that is serious as decided by the disciplinary committee concerned, a minimum penalty of (i) two demerits (of which one will remain in the University s record permanently and one is reviewable); and (ii) a failure grade for the course concerned. Rules listed below are for proper administration of the course examinations. A candidate may be required to leave the examination centre and be disciplined by the concerned authorities in accordance with the nature and gravity of the offence for violation of these rules. 1. Bring to the examination centre the student identity card. 2. Take up the seat as assigned. 3. Electronic devices with transmission or photo-taking functions (e.g. mobile phone, smart watch and electronic organizer etc.) must be turned off and put inside the bag before entering the examination centre. 53 Assessment, Examinations and Academic Honesty 4. Place the student identity card and watch (not smart watch) on the desk for inspection by the invigilators during the examination. 5. Ask questions concerning the examination papers during the first 30 minutes of the examination session. 6. Do not leave the examination centre during the first 30 minutes and the last 15 minutes of the examination. 8. Do not leave the examination centre without permission from the invigilator. Early leavers must make sure the answer scripts and related materials have been collected by the invigilator on the spot. 9. Do not bring into the examination centre any food or drink except pure water. 10. Only stationery, papers distributed at the examination centre and articles permitted by the concerned teaching staff may be placed on the desk. 11. Do not smear or disfigure the cover of answer books and answer sheets with marks. 12. Follow instructions of the chief invigilator, invigilators and concerned teaching staff, including but not limited to washroom arrangements, seating and collection of answer scripts/answer sheets/question papers. 13. Candidates must remain seated in silence until answer scripts and related materials have been collected at the end of an examination session. 14. No answer scripts or related materials will be accepted once the candidate leaves the examination centre. B. Rules listed below relate to the conduct of a candidate during an examination session. A candidate violating these rules, once established by the concerned authorities, shall be disciplined in accordance with policies and guidelines governing academic honesty. 15. Do not start reading the question paper or writing without permission. 16. Follow Pens-down instruction. 17. Do not carry any unauthorized articles on the person or place them on the examination desk. 18. Do not communicate or attempt to communicate improperly with other candidates, and do not copy from unauthorized materials or from the work of another candidate. Do not impersonate another candidate or let another person impersonate you. 54 I General Regulations General Regulations Governing Postgraduate Studies Applicable to Master of Arts in Christian Studies [MACS] and Master of Divinity [MDiv] Students Accessible at Please also read relevant parts of the Postgraduate Student Handbook regarding your studies, in particular study scheme and the code of practice II General Regulations Governing Undergraduate Studies Applicable to Bachelor of Arts in Theology [BA] Students Accessible at III General Regulations Governing Associate Students of Divinity School of Chung Chi College The following Regulations are applicable to Bachelor of Divinity [BD], Master of Ministry [MMin], Master of Theology [MTheol] and Doctor of Theology [DTheol] students only (i.e. Associate Students of Divinity School of Chung Chi College) 1.0 Registration 1.1 A student admitted to the University shall pay the fees and register on the respective specified dates. Only under very special circumstances may an applicant who has been offered admission apply for deferment of first registration. Such an application shall be made in writing beforehand for approval by Divinity School of Chung Chi College. 1.2 A student shall not be registered simultaneously for another course of study or research leading to the award of a degree, diploma or certificate at this University or any other tertiary institution except by prior permission of Divinity School of Chung Chi College. A student in breach of this regulation shall be required to discontinue studies at the University. 1.3 A full-time student shall not take up any full-time employment, paid or unpaid, during term time except by prior permission of Divinity School of Chung Chi College. 1.4 A student shall register in the name which appears in his/her Hong Kong Identity Card or passport. Only under very special circumstances may an applicant who has graduated or who has withdrawn from the University apply for change of his/her registered particulars. Such an application shall be made in writing with justification for approval by Divinity School of Chung Chi College. 2.0 Fees 2.1 The fees prescribed by the University Council shall be payable on dates specified unless prior permission for deferment is obtained. 2.2 A student in arrears shall be subject to fines. Unless written approval is given by the University to defer payment, a student in arrears, whether in part or in full, or who has outstanding fees/fines unpaid, shall be withheld from University services such as course registration and add/drop, application for transcript and certifying letter, graduation assessment, until all outstanding fees/fines are settled. Shortening of the normative study period should be made 18 months before the expected graduation term while extension beyond the normative study period should only be made within the specified application period before the commencement of the last year of attendance of the normative study period. No such application, however, shall normally be accepted after the commencement of a student s expected graduation term. 3.4 The maximum study period of all programmes shall include any periods of leave of absence and suspension of studies, but exclude any periods of compulsory military service as required by a student s nation, unless otherwise permitted by the Academic Programmes Committee of Divinity School of Chung Chi College. 3.5 A student who has not fulfilled all requirements for graduation beyond the maximum study period shall be discontinued from the University without receiving a degree. 56 General Regulations Governing Associate Students of DSCCC 4.0 Course Requirements and Exemptions 4.1 Students shall complete the units of courses and other requirements as prescribed by the programmes as detailed in the study scheme of each programme. 4.2 A student with recognized post-secondary qualifications may be exempted from some courses and/or units required for graduation according to the procedure prescribed. 4.3 No student with such exemptions shall be allowed to graduate unless s/he shall have completed at least twothirds of programme requirements at Divinity School of Chung Chi College. 4.4 Type of Recognised Qualifications Recognized qualifications, either gained at other tertiary institutions or at another programme of studies previously undertaken at CUHK/DSCCC, or equivalent, may include: (a) courses taken in a previous degree programme, full-time or part-time, in Hong Kong or elsewhere, irrespective whether that programme was actually completed or not; (b) where a programme prescribes undergraduate courses, courses completed in undergraduate programmes may also be considered. However, only up to 15% of the total units required for graduation may be exempted by using undergraduate courses; (c) courses taken by CUHK students on approved exchange programmes. In listing all these qualifications, it is not suggested that they shall necessarily be recognized, as the decision in each case will be subject to approval by Academic Programmes Committee of Divinity School of Chung Chi College on a case-by-case basis, taking into account individual circumstances. 4.5 General Principles of Course and/or Unit Exemption (a) It is up to students to initiate applications. Recommendations should be made by the programme concerned, to which the student belongs, to the Academic Programmes Committee of Divinity School of Chung Chi College for approval. (b) Students of the Bachelor of Divinity (BD) programme may be eligible to apply for exemption if they have obtained a recognized Bachelor of Theology degree prior to admission to the BD programme. There are two possible types of exemption: Type I: Course and Unit Exemption (Refer to the Green Column in the appended table) Only applicable for biblical languages and/or field education courses. It refers to exemption from both the course(s) and the corresponding unit(s). After exemption, the unit requirement for graduation will be adjusted accordingly. For instance, if six units of biblical language courses are exempted, the total number of units required for graduation will be reduced by six units. As for Field Education courses, students who have three [or five] years full-time work experience in church prior to admission to DSCCC are eligible to be exempted from four [or eight] units. For instance, if applicants have completed other recognized History of Christianity courses in other tertiary institutions, then the applicants may choose to reallocate two courses (=6 units) required under the area of History of Christianity to other areas, such as selecting one course (=3 units) under Theology and another (=3 units) under Pastoral Studies. After unit reallocation, the total number of units required for graduation will remain unchanged. (d) For research programmes, exemption may be recommended if the student s training in another postgraduate degree programme is considered to be of sufficient standard to warrant exemption from a course or certain courses in the CUHK/DSCCC programme. (e) In making its evaluation, Divinity School of Chung Chi College shall take into account the status of the institution where the qualification was gained, the level and content of the course(s) under scrutiny, the grade achieved and how long ago the course was taken. Divinity School of Chung Chi College may set a test if appropriate. (f) Divinity School of Chung Chi College shall decide whether the student, if exempted from a course, is also exempted from the corresponding units in his/her CUHK programme of studies, or s/he will have to take another course to make up the units. The student cannot take a course for which exemption has been granted. (g) Courses exempted under this policy will not count in GPA calculations. 4.6 Application Procedures Students may submit applications for course and/or unit exemption to the programme concerned via the General Office of Divinity School of Chung Chi College during their normative period of study with the following supporting documents: (a) Copy of certificate(s)/diploma(s); (b) Original(s) of transcript(s); (c) Copy of course descriptions or course content of courses taken. 58 5.0 Course Load and Selection General Regulations Governing Associate Students of DSCCC 5.1 Full-time BD students shall take at least 9 units and no more than 18 units of courses in any term within the normative study period, unless s/he is on first or extended academic probation as provided for in Regulation 5.2. A student shall take no more than 6 units of courses in each summer session, and no student shall be allowed to take more than 39 units in an academic year. 5.2 A student on academic probation shall take a maximum of 12 units per term during first probation, and a maximum of 9 units per term during extended probation. 5.3 Notwithstanding Regulation 5.1, under special circumstances a student may be allowed to take fewer than 9 units or more than 18 units in a term, or more than 39 units in an academic year if recommended by the Programme Director concerned and approved by the Academic Programmes Committee of Divinity School of Chung Chi College. A student who fails to obtain such approval and (a) does not register for courses after the prescribed period may be required to suspend studies or considered to have withdrawn from studies at the University; or (b) register for a total unit of courses exceeding the stipulated maximum shall be required to drop an appropriate number of courses as deemed necessary. 5.4 A student who has failed in any required course shall retake that course or take a substitute course prescribed by the programme concerned. Students will be allowed to sit for supplementary examination for courses as specified by the programme, and shall retake the course(s) if they have failed in the supplementary examination. 5.5 A student shall not repeat any course which s/he has taken and passed except as required by regulations which prescribe otherwise. 6.0 Course Withdrawals and Additions 6.1 A student who wishes to apply for withdrawal or addition of course(s) after the beginning of the teaching term shall complete the prescribed procedure and within the specified period as determined by the Senate from time to time. Only under special circumstances may a student apply for permission to withdraw from a course or enrol in a new course after the specified period of the teaching term. Such an application shall be made according to prescribed procedures. 6.2 A student who withdraws from a course without going through the prescribed procedure shall be given a failure (F) grade for the course. 7.0 Residence Requirements 7.1 Definition of Residence (a) A student is classified as being in residence if s/he is attending courses as prescribed by his/her programme, and in the case of research postgraduate students, also receiving supervision on a regular basis. (b) A student who is in Hong Kong except for absences not exceeding three weeks continuously and not exceeding one month aggregate in any one academic year shall be deemed to be receiving regular supervision, and provided s/he is also attending courses, if required, shall be regarded as in residence. 59 General Regulations Governing Associate Students of DSCCC (c) A student who is not in Hong Kong shall normally be deemed to be not receiving supervision, and shall be regarded as not being in residence. In cases where the student would nevertheless receive adequate supervision on a regular basis while away from Hong Kong, or where the absence from Hong Kong is related to an academic purpose, an application should be made beforehand to the Programme Director concerned, with the endorsement of the Supervisor, to regard the student as being in residence during that period of absence. (d) A student may also be regarded as being in residence while away from Hong Kong if the programme of studies so approves. 7.2 Residence Requirements (a) Except for periods of approved leave, all students are required to be in residence during their period of study. (b) Students registered in taught programmes are not required to be in residence between teaching terms. (c) Residence requirements may be waived for part-time students for up to six months in any academic year, upon the written approval of the Supervisor and the Programme Director concerned. 8.0 Attendance and Absence 8.1 A student who has been absent from class/ required activities for any period shall be responsible for applying to the teaching staff concerned for permission to make up for any required work missed. 8.2 In case of illness necessitating absence exceeding one week, a student shall apply in writing to obtain permission from the Registrar. Such an application shall be accompanied by a certificate signed or countersigned by the Director of the University Health Service and shall require the endorsement of the programme concerned. 8.3 A student who wishes to apply for a leave of absence exceeding one week for non-medical reasons shall obtain prior permission from the Registrar through written application. Such an application shall state the reasons for which leave of absence is sought and shall require the endorsement of the programme concerned. 8.4 Under no circumstances shall a student be granted leave of absence for more than two years, except for compulsory military services as provided for in Regulation A student shall be required to take leave of absence if the condition of his/her health is considered by the Director of the University Health Service as constituting a definite hazard to the University community. At the end of the prescribed period of absence, the student shall obtain a certificate of good health signed by the Director of the University Health Service before s/he can apply to resume studies. 9.0 Academic Probation and Discontinuation of Studies 9.1 Unless otherwise approved in exceptional circumstances, a student is required to discontinue studies if his/her performance is unsatisfactory. The definition of unsatisfactory performance is as follows: (a) the cumulative grade point average is 1.0 or below, or (b) the student fails to have probation lifted after being put on academic probation for two consecutive terms of attendance, or Page 59 of 70

60 General Regulations Governing Associate Students of DSCCC (c) additional requirements laid down by Divinity School of Chung Chi College are not satisfied. 9.2 On the other hand, a student shall be put on academic probation if s/he has obtained a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) below 2.0 in the preceding term or upon receiving a failure grade in a thesis monitoring course unless s/he is required to discontinue from study. A student on academic probation shall be reviewed by Divinity School of Chung Chi College at the end of the term in which s/he is put on probation, at which time if s/he has obtained a CGPA of 2.0 or above or attained satisfactory progress, probation shall be lifted, otherwise probation shall continue to apply in his/her next term of attendance unless s/he is required to discontinue studies owing to unsatisfactory performance Re-instatement 10.1 A student who has withdrawn from the University for reasons other than academic ones may apply in writing to Divinity School of Chung Chi College for re-instatement as a student No student who has been required to discontinue studies at the University because of unsatisfactory academic performance as prescribed in Regulation 10.1 or has withdrawn to avoid such discontinuation shall be re-instated Graduation 11.1 To be considered for the award of a degree, a student shall: (a) have satisfied all requirements prescribed in Regulations 3.0 and 4.0; and (b) have obtained a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of not less than 1.5. A student who has satisfied the above requirements shall graduate, unless, in accordance with Regulation 13.0, s/he is required to terminate studies or be suspended from studies at the University Provided that s/he is not required to discontinue studies, a student who has reached the end of the normative period but fails to meet any of the requirements prescribed in Regulation 11.1 shall register for a further term or year or specific course/s, as the case may be Degree Certificate 12.1 Upon completion of the programme, a student will be conferred the degree during the graduation service held at the Theology Day Celebration Degree certificates for graduates with outstanding debts to the University will be withheld until the accounts are settled Disciplinary Action 13.1 A student who violates any rule or regulation and/or commits any misconduct, including but not limited to the following: (a) defamation of or assault on or battery against the person of any member of the University; (b) wilful damage to or defacement of any property of the University; (c) theft, fraudulent use, misapplication of University funds or property of any kind; Page 60 of 70

61 General Regulations Governing Associate Students of DSCCC (d) academic dishonesty (including but not limited to plagiarism); (e) an offence in connection with tests or examinations or violation of any of the regulations governing conduct at tests or examinations as approved by the Senate from time to time; (f) falsification or serious misuse of University documents or records; (g) refusal to comply with any regulations or orders by authorized persons and bodies prohibiting any conduct which disrupts teaching, study, research, administration or normal activities of the University; (h) any conduct which is detrimental to the reputation and well-being of the University; (i) an offence of an immoral, scandalous or disgraceful nature of which the student has been convicted in any court of law; or (j) misrepresentations or false statements made in any application or document submitted to the University; shall be disciplined by the Teaching, Learning and Disciplinary Committee of Divinity School of Chung Chi College, or other disciplinary committees as appropriate, including College Assembly of Fellows, as shall be vested with authority in handling matters pertaining to the discipline of students, in accordance with the nature and gravity of the offence Disciplinary action may result in a penalty in any one or more of the following forms: (a) reprimand issued by the disciplinary body concerned; (b) suspension from part or all of the rights, privileges and/or the use of part or all of the facilities of the University for a specified period of time; (c) demerit(s), of which a total of three may result in termination of studies at the University; (d) suspension from the University for a specified period of time; (e) termination of studies at the University; (f) any other form as Divinity School of Chung Chi College, Board of Faculty, College Assembly of Fellows, or other disciplinary committees (as the case may be) may deem fit. Penalty (d) or (e) may be imposed only with the approval of the Faculty Meeting of Divinity School of Chung Chi College. Any penalty imposed as a result of disciplinary action may be entered into the transcript of the student s academic record. Upon the notification of the decision/recommendation by the Panel of Judges/disciplinary committee, the student concerned may lodge an appeal, against the decision/recommendation made by the Panel of Judges/disciplinary committee, to the Faculty Meeting of Divinity School of Chung Chi College through the disciplinary committee that deals with the case in the first instance within seven working days of receiving the notification. 62 Academic Advisory System Under the Academic Advisory System, every postgraduate student is assigned to one teaching staff as his/ her Level I Advisor who provides general support, such as course selection, adaptation to University learning modes and disciplinary fundamentals. Students who are in greater needs, including those who are put on academic probation, extended probation, will be further taken care by Level II Advisors who provide more individualized and in-depth support. 63 Membership of Student Union & School Activities I Membership of Student Union In accordance with clause 2.1 of the Constitution of the Student Union of Divinity School of Chung Chi College (hereafter, SU), full-time students of the following programmes shall be full members of SU: Bachelor of Arts in Theology (BA) Bachelor of Divinity (BD) Doctor of Theology (DTheol) Master of Arts in Christian Studies (MACS) Master of Divinity (MDiv) Master of Ministry (MMin) Master of Theology (MTheol) *Remarks: Part-time students or students from other programmes affiliated to Divinity School of Chung Chi College (e.g. MPhil/PhD students) are eligible to apply for SU membership. However, they are not required to participate in the school activities specified below. II Participation in School Activities The Divinity School is committed to promoting spiritual and holistic education through worships, student-led activities and campus life. 64 Hostel Arrangements To enhance interactions among students, residence in the student hostel is mandatory for the following students: Unmarried students of full-time Bachelor of Divinity (BD) Programme; or Unmarried students of full-time Master of Divinity (MDiv) Programme; or Unmarried non-local students. Residents will be informed of the hostel policy and check-in procedures by before the academic year commences. Unmarried full-time BD/MDiv/non-local students who are not able to reside in the student hostel may apply for exemption from hostel accommodation via the online application form ( Such applications will not be approved unless under exceptional circumstances which will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Due to the limited hostel places, on-campus accommodation will normally not be provided for married students and part-time students. 65 Arrangements for Classes and Examinations on Approach of Typhoons and Rainstorms A. If the local storm warning signal no. 8 or above or the black rainstorm signal is issued before the start of class period, all buses will be suspended and will resume operation one hour after the said warning signal is lowered.
