27 Abstract Based on a case study of ERP implementation and the transformation of organizational culture in company Ca large state-owned enterprisethis paper explores the mechanisms as well as the essential conditions of organizational culture transformation due to the application of ERP. By comparing the employees interpretations of daily practices in the organization before and after the implementation of ERPthe paper finds that the informatization in company C has transformed its organizational culture from relation-based culture to rule-based professional culture. The mechanisms of this transformation include technology imperativethe management discipline and the employees self-adaptation. The author argues that whether technology could change organizational culture depends on the extent of legitimacy the technology has acquired in the organization. The paper also discusses the implication of this study for the second-stage reform of state-owned enterprises. By choosing women s weightliftinga sports item with evident masculinitythis paper illustrates how the power of the state combined with the authority of families makes use of the individual bodyespecially the bodies of women who are in marginal situation. The authors argue that the state s expropriation of individual body is largely driven by its desire for modernity. During the processthe state realizes its power practice through familiesand the individual athletes themselves also participate in the construction of the power system. The individual athletes involved are not only victims but also the builders of the power system. These reflections mainly concentrate on whether peasants could express themselves truly and autonomously. This paper points out that peasants absolutely low standards of living and their cognition of suffering from the perspective of class were indeed the basis of peasants response to sukuhowevertheir understanding of suku and the 244

28 corresponding actions taken during the campaign were based on their own benefits valuesand emotions. Thuspeasants voice in suku was not always the reproduction of the narrative mode of class sufferingbut multiple choices including acceptance impositionalterationavoidancereticence and even resistance. This paper emphasizes the selective adaption of peasants as leading participants to the limited freedom of speech during suku. The authors argue that with this selective adaption suku was adopted by peasants to maintain their own interests and emotional needs while at the same timestrategic answers were given to cope with the prohibition of voice violating the narrative mode of class suffering. ThereforeCCP s political discipline did show great effect in short termbut inevitably failed at last. Furthermoreon the contrary to expectationthe utility of suku also started to diminish over time. Subsistence Ethic and Collectivity Logic A sociological analysis of Daoqianhu phenomenon in the period of agricultural collectivization Meng Qingyan 172 Abstract Daoqianhu as a unique historical phenomenonemerged in the middle of 1950s when the agricultural collectivization movement got started. The existence of daoqianhu illustrated the state's effort to reconcile the conflict between the peasants' subsistence ethic and the maximization of individual incentives. Meanwhile it was also a power practice that the CCP tried to create the new socialist generation. However the state power didn't achieve its institutional goal of rebuilding the rural society. Based on the review of existing theoretical and empirical researchesthis paper emphasizes that we should understand daoqianhu from ethical point of view rather than the overly simplified economic angle. The author argues that the production teamwhich was seen by peasants as a family-like organizationwas not only an economic organization but also a social organization which resulted into a collectivity ethic that confounds the public and the private. Together with other factorsit led to the failure of daoqianhu institution and facilitated other unexpected historical results.
