1 YK Pao School 2013 Teacher: Suisui.yu Frank.wang Contact Information: ol.cn Meeting Time: Syllabus: Mathematics 8 High level Course Description Chinese 第二学期的代数方面, 我们将把方程的范围扩大到一元二次方程双二次方程分式方程以及根式方程等等我们还在第一学期的基础上开始研究一次函数在几何方面, 我们将研究四边形, 包括平行四边形正方形矩形菱形以及梯形我们还让学生深入研究概率的相关知识 Language of Instruction: English and Chinese Course Objective English 1.Understand the concept of linear function, able to distinguish the connection between two variables is linear function or not. 2.Able to draw the graph of linear function, understand the property of linear function through the graph. 3.Get to know the solution of linear function and the solution set of linear inequality, understand the relationship between linear function, linear inequality and linear function. 4.Solve practical problem by using linear function, understand the meaning of set up simple function model. 5.Know the concept of integral equation, able to solve linear equation and quadratic equation with unknown coefficient. 6.Know the concept of equation with higher degree, able to work out the real roots (approximation) of quadratic equation by using calculator. 7.Understand the concept of fractional equation, irrational equation; know well about the basic methods to solve fractional equation (equation set) that can be converted to quadratic equation, and irrational equation. Know how to verify the roots. Understand the idea of conversion like the integration of fractional equation, the rationalization of irrational equation. 8.Know the concept of quadratic equation and equation set with two variables, know well about the basic methods of elimination and reduction, therefore be able to solve quadratic equation with two variables. 9.Able to solve problem by using equation. 10.Understand the concept of polygon, parallelogram, rectangle, rhomb, square, and trapezoid. 11.Know well about the theorem of interior angle sum and exterior angle sum of a polygon; know well about the property and definition of parallelogram; know well about the property and definition of isosceles trapezoid; know well about the middle line theorem of triangle and trapezoid. 12.Understand the concept of directed line segment and vector;

2 know the triangle method, parallelogram method of the addition of two vectors, and the polygon method of the addition of more than two vectors. 13.Understand the concept of certain event, impossible event, random event, know the meaning of sure event and unsure event, able to distinguish in daily life. 14.Know the meaning of the probability of event, know the relationship between the probability of random event and the occurrence of the event, know that the probability of random event can be estimated by the frequency of numerous times of experiments. 15.Know the concept of equally likely events; know the formula to calculate the probability of equally likely events; able to use tree diagram to analyze all the possible outcomes of equally likely events; able to solve geometric figure related probability problem by convert it into equally likely events probability problem. Course Description English In semester 2, for Algebra, we would extend Equation to quadratic equation and equation set, fractional equation, and radical equation. We would also study on linear function, based on what we learned last semester. For Geometry, we would work on quadrilateral, including parallelogram, square, rectangle, rhomb and trapezoid. We would also go into the relevant knowledge about probability. Course Objective Chinese 1. 理解一次函数的概念, 会判断两个变量之间的关系是否为一次函数 2. 会画一次函数的图象, 通过图像理解一次函数的性质 3. 能借助一次函数的图象认识一元一次方程的解, 一元一次不等式的解集, 理解一元一次方程一元一次不等式和一次函数之间的内在联系 4. 能应用一次函数解决一些简单的有关实际的问题, 了解建立简单函数模型的意义 5. 知道一元整式方程的概念, 会解含有字母系数的一元一次方程与一元二次方程 6. 知道高次方程的概念, 会用计算器求二项方程的实数根 ( 近似根 ) 7. 理解分式方程无理方程的概念 ; 掌握简单的可化为一元二次方程的分式方程 ( 组 ) 和简单的无理方程的解法掌握验根的基本方法领会分式方程整式化无理方程有理化的化归思想 8. 知道二元二次方程和方程组的概念, 掌握消元和降次的基本方法, 从而解一些二元二次方程 9. 会用方程的思想解决一些简单的实际问题 10. 理解多边形平行四边形矩形菱形正方形梯形的有关概念 11. 掌握多边形的内角和与外角和定理 ; 掌握平行四边形的性质定理和判定定

5 Geometry Class Expectations Be On Time. Bring your planner and fill it out daily. Be prepared with your supplies: Math book, notebook, pencils, etc. Be respectful to yourself and others. Bring your Mathematical mind and a positive Attitude! Absences If you are absent you will need to get the notes, class work and the assignment from me as soon as possible. For each day you are absent from math class, you will have that same number of school days to make up your work. Otherwise the assignment will fall under the "8th Grade Homework" policy.
