This paper investigated 300 doctoral dissertations f rom 12 institutions in China and summarized their methodological progress and characteris2 tics. Some problems were found in these doctoral dissertations, which included that research method was understood vaguely, exp ressed irregular, used defectively, transplanted too far2 fetched,and wrote the name of inconsistency, etc. To improve the ability to use scientific re2 search methods of strategy, we need to strengthen the quality of research methodology,focus on the construction of methodology courses,emphasis on the foref ront of curriculum subject s, increase inter2disciplinary curriculum, explore the system of scientific research methods and create a atmosphere of academic exchanges,etc. The main purpose was to provide reference for the quality of doctoral dissertation and the reform of doctor s degree education.
