The study of the historic tracks in the Yangming Shan National Park Principal Investigator JUI-TSUNG LEE
The Study of the Historic Tracks in the Yangmingshan National Park Abstract This study, starting in July 1998, lasts a year round to June 1999. The historic tracks in the Yangmingshan National Park were, in the beginning, made by the people of Kimazon, Kipatao, Taparri, Takelang, and Tatonaof the Ketagalan tribe for contact. With the advancing of the pioneers in the Qing Dynasty, they developed into important passages for the transport of the locally-produced goods, and were further broaden and refined during the Japanese time. Discarded or still being used, they now are regarded as most significant historic sites in the National Park. The paper is devided into six chapters. In the first, the classification and the significance of every track are analyzed. In the next, a general historic background of all the tracks in the park is stated. The geographical details are put in the third chapter. As to the four, it is about the investigation and measurement of Ching-Shue ( ) (the big tanks for producing Indigo dye ). The fifth chapter records the surveying of the routes, especially that of the Tam-Kee crossing track, and some conclusions are drawn in the last chapter. According to the paper. The Ta m-kee crossing track and the Indigo trackpossess as important historic value as the Taparri way, which has already been restored, and so does the remains of Ching-Shue ( ). They are all worth our great attention to preserving and sustainably managing.
