Ch ing Scholars reconsideration of Yen Yu Poetics Hung-Chang Liao Associate Professor, Department of Chinese Literature, National Sun Yat-Sen University Abstract There was an obvious compromising trend on Ch ing poetics because of the partisan rival on Ming poetics. Therefore Ch ing scholars traced back to the cause of this rival, corrected it and established an independent poetic system. In this process, the case of Yen Yu became a focus of discussion. Why Yen was chosen as the object of discussion? Why his poetics was significant in Ch ing scholarship? These are the important question that this paper tries to resolve.
