3 附件 1 华中农业大学学位论文撰写规范 ( 自然科学类 ) 学位论文是学生在教师的指导下经过调查研究 科学实验或工程设计, 对所取得成果的科学表述, 是学生毕业及学位资格认定的重要依据 为进一步规范学位论文写作和装订, 促进学位论文形式标准化, 其撰写在参照国家 各行业部门制定的有关标准及语法规范的同时, 应遵照如下规范 : 一 论文结构论文一般应包括 : 封面 扉页 华中农业大学学位论文独创性声明及使用授权书 目录 论文摘要 ( 中 英文 ) 缩略语表 正文 参考文献 附录 致谢等几个部分 其中正文由前言 材料与方法 结果与分析 讨论等部分组成 华中农业大学学位论文独创性声明及使用授权书 臵于扉页与目录之间 二 论文书写论文要求统一使用 Microsoft Word 软件进行文字处理, 统一采用 A4 页面白纸打印, 其尺寸为 :mm: , 其中上 下边距 25mm 左边距( 装订边边距 )32mm 右边距 25mm 页眉 20mm 页脚 15mm 奇偶页页边距对称, 页眉 页脚居中排列, 页眉采用宋体小五号, 其中奇数页页眉为论文题目, 偶数页页眉为 华中农业大学 XX 届学士 / 硕士研究生 / 博士研究生学位论文 论文目录一般应自动生成, 目录本身的页码用大写罗马数字 (Ⅰ Ⅱ Ⅲ ) 单独编排, 中英文摘要 缩略语表等的页码用小写罗马数字 (ⅰ ⅱ ⅲ ) 单独编排, 论文页码在下边线下居中放臵, 用小五号阿拉伯数字 (1 2 3 ) 编排 论文中的各级标题与正文 表头 题头等可以用不同的字号和字体加以区别, 但通篇论文的同级标题和正文应采用统一的字间距 行间距 字体和字号 论文标题一般可设三级, 一级标题采用三号黑体, 二级标题采用小三号黑体, 三级标题采用四号黑体, 且都采用左对齐排版 ; 论文中的各级标题应采用统一的编号体系, 一般按

4 体系进行标题编号, 不能将 一 (1) 等混编 标题以外的正文, 一般采用小四号宋体 ( 英文用 Times New Roman 字体 ); 图表应同时标注中英文对照标题, 中文标题用小四号宋体加粗, 英文标题用小四号 Times New Roman 加粗 ; 图表内的文字一般中文采用五号宋体, 英文采用五号 Times New Roman 体 注意孤行 孤尾控制, 一段文字的最后一行不落在下一页, 一段文字的启始行 ( 特别是标题 ) 不放在前一页 所有的表图, 包括表题 图题和脚注等, 都应尽可能放在同一页, 以保持表图的完整性 确因表格太大而无法一页显示完整时, 可于下页列续表, 但应加写表题并于表格右上角用圆括号注明 续表 或 续图 字样表示与前页表图的连贯 论文正式输出前认真仔细地校对, 特别要严格检查错别字 漏字 段落错乱 标题混乱等问题 装订要求整齐 美观 装订好的论文中不应出现手工涂改的痕迹, 论文错漏按正式出版物要求不能大于万分之一 三 封面 书脊与扉页封面内容应包括攻读学位级别 ( 学士 / 博士 / 硕士 ) 并以中英文对照的形式列出以下内容 : 论文题目 学生姓名 学号 专业 导师姓名 职称 研究方向 论文完成时间等内容 论文题目应高度概括和准确反映论文内容, 力求简洁, 一般不超过 25 个汉字 论文封面式样参考附件样本, 在左上角填写分类号 右上角填写密级, 由学校教务处与研究生院统一印制, 学生在提供的封面上相应位臵套好所需文字后进行包装 学士学位论文封面可手写 装订的论文应有书脊, 书脊印刷内容为 : 华中农业大学学士 / 硕士 / 博士学位论文 ( 空三格 ) 年份 / 届别 ( 空三格 ) 作者姓名 字体为 12 磅黑体, 字站立, 竖排 如书本厚度不够, 同上所述, 用长体字 学士学位论文如厚度不足, 可不印书脊 扉页应包括论文题目 ( 中英文 ) 学生姓名 学号 所在学院 专业班级 导师姓名 职称 学位类型 研究领域等内容 扉页式样参考附件样本 四 目录目录独立成页, 是论文的导读图, 包括论文中全部章 节的标题及页码, 含摘要与关键词 ( 中 外文 ) 正文章 节题目( 一般编写到三级标题 ) 参考文献 致谢 附录等 目录必须与全文的纲目完全一致, 应清楚无误地逐一标注标题在正文中的页码 编 4

5 排时注意不同级别标题写作格式上的差别, 相同级别的标题字体 字号应相同 五 摘要摘要包括中文摘要 英文摘要和关键词, 出现在论文目录之后 正文之前 编排顺序是中文摘要 中文关键词 英文摘要 英文关键词 摘要是文章的缩影, 要求简明确切 不加注释或评论地介绍论文研究背景 研究目的 主要材料和方法 研究结果 结论 科学意义或应用价值等 使用符号 略语或缩写等必须符合学科规范 英文摘要的内容与中文摘要的内容基本一致, 语法正确 拼写无误, 符合英语表达习惯 关键词是摘要的一部分, 反映文章主体内容和涉及范围, 是论文分类和建立索引的依据, 一般由 3-8 个相对独立的反映论文主体内容和涉及范围的词或词组组成 中文关键词在中文摘要之后, 英文关键词在英文摘要之后, 中英文关键词一一对应, 分别放臵在中 英文摘要之后另起一行, 各关键词之间用分号 ; 隔开 为增加检索的信息量, 关键词应避免与标题相重复 六 缩略语表如有必要, 在摘要之后 正文之前应有缩略语表 ( 缩略语的应用规范见下文第十一点部分 ), 按对照的方式列出文中所用的各种自定义名词的缩写 略写等用语的确切含义 公知公用的缩略词不必列入 符号 略语或缩写的使用必须符合学科规范, 不得随意杜撰 七 正文正文包括前言 材料与方法 结果与分析 讨论等涉及到的内容, 每节还可分成若干小节, 用小标题分开 研究生学位论文可分章写作, 每一章都应包括前言 材料和方法 结果与分析 讨论等部分, 每章所使用的参考文献在论文正文结束后统一编排 ( 一 ) 前言前言应包括研究问题的由来 文献综述 研究目的等基本内容 研究问题的由来应明确提出论文研究所针对的科学 生产和经济建设的问题, 指出研究这些问题的意义 5

6 文献综述主要回顾与所研究课题相关的学科背景, 相关领域的研究进展和存在的问题等, 是作者对相关文献阅读 消化后的综合 提炼与升华, 反映作者对国内外相关进展的了解和理解的程度 因此, 文献综述在叙述前人工作的同时, 应有自己的看法和观点 不应照抄前人文章, 或将文献综述写成前人工作的堆砌, 也不应像教科书一样写成知识性介绍 研究目的是在提出问题和综述文献的基础上, 阐述学术思想, 提出科学假设或假说, 提出论文研究要实现的目标或达到的目的 ( 二 ) 材料与方法详尽列出研究所用材料, 如生物材料及拉丁文学名 品种名称 菌株名称, 实验材料与课题研究有关的各种特征特性, 由实验材料所得到的各种衍生材料 实验群体 世代 数量等, 并明确指出各种材料的来源 详尽描述实验方法, 以能将实验材料与实验结果贯通为基础, 且他人能按所述的方法进行重复实验 对一些常用的实验方法, 可在引用他人文献的基础上, 简要加以描述, 但对于自己改进或发明的新方法则需要详细说明, 指出所用的是他人的方法, 还是自己发明的方法, 或是在前人基础上的改进及改进的内容等 实验方法还应包括实验设计 田间种植方式 田间管理 试验时间 地点 数据采集 ( 考种 ) 统计分析方法 所用统计软件 计算机程序等 ( 三 ) 结果与分析详尽陈述课题研究结果, 在写作时力求条理清晰 层次分明, 做到环环相扣, 具有严密的逻辑性, 避免重复叙述实验方法, 或作过多的讨论 ( 四 ) 讨论讨论是反映作者综合分析 逻辑思维的能力和水平的重要内容, 是在透彻理解结果的基础上, 精练地归纳研究的主要结论, 指出本研究结果的进步所在和所解决的科学问题, 阐明研究结果在理论上和应用上的价值 前景等 讨论中还应指出本研究及其结果所存在的问题 研究工作的不足及进一步开展研究的思路和建议等 讨论内容应注意与前文的研究目的相呼应, 要言之有据, 避免重复叙述实验结果 鼓励学生以一定的实验证据为基础, 进行大胆推论 假设, 提出新的学术观点 6

7 八 参考文献参考文献紧接正文后面列出, 与文中的文献引用一一对应 采用顺序编码制, 按正文中引用文献出现的先后顺序连续编码, 将序号臵于方括号中, 格式为右上标 如果顺序编码制用注脚方式时, 序号可由计算机自动生成圈码 同一处引用多篇文献时, 应将各篇文献的序号在方括号内全部列出, 各序号间用, 如遇连续序号, 起讫序号间用短横线连接 此规则不适用于计算机自动编码的序号 多次引用同一著者的同一文献时, 在正文中标注首次引用的文献序号, 并在序号的 [] 外著录引文页码 所有中文参考文献著录格式中的句号和逗号用中文全角状态下的. 和, 表示 ; 所有西文参考文献著录格式中的标点符号用西文状态下的符号, 后空一格 参考文献的著录应符合国家标准, 参考文献的序号左顶格, 并用数字加方括号表示, 与正文中的引文标示一致, 如 [1] [2] 每一条参考文献著录以. 结束 具体各类参考文献的编排格式如下 : 1. 文献是期刊时, 书写格式为 : [ 序号 ] 作者. 文章题目 [J]. 期刊名 ( 外文刊名用斜体, 两个词以上的用缩写, 缩写词后不用缩点, 用一空格隔开 ; 一个词的不缩写 ), 出版年份, 卷号 ( 期数 ): 起止页码. 2. 文献是图书时, 书写格式为 : [ 序号 ] 作者. 书名 [M]. 版次. 出版地 : 出版单位, 出版年份. 起止页码. 3. 文献是文集 ( 包括会议论文集 ) 时, 书写格式为 : [ 序号 ] 作者. 文章题目 [A]. 见 (In): 编者 ( 主编或编, 英文编者后加 ed. 多位编者加 eds.). 专著 ( 文集 ) 名 [C]. 出版地 : 出版者, 出版年. 起止页码. 4. 文献是学位论文时, 书写格式为 : [ 序号 ] 作者. 论文题目 [D]. 保存地 : 保存单位, 年份. 5. 文献是来自报告时, 书写格式为 : [ 序号 ] 报告者. 报告题目 [R]. 报告地 : 报告会主办单位, 报告年份. 6. 文献是来自专利时, 书写格式为 : [ 序号 ] 专利所有者. 专利名称 [P]. 专利国别 : 专利号, 发布日期. 7. 文献是来自国际 国家标准时, 书写格式为 : 7

10 九 附录附录可以包括两部分的内容 : ( 一 ) 论文的补充材料, 如实验方法 试剂配方 实验数据 公式推导等 ; ( 二 ) 硕士 博士研究生可附上作者简历 在读期间与课题有关的研究成果, 包括发表的论文 出版专著 参加国际会议及论文等 论文附录依次用大写字母 附录 A 附录 B 附录 C 表示, 附录内的分级序号可采用 附 A1 附 A1.1 附 A1.1.1 等表示, 图 表 公式均依此类推为 图 A1 表 A1 式(A1) 等 十 致谢致谢是作者对完成论文起到指导和帮助作用的个人或单位发自内心的感谢 致谢要实事求是, 谦和真诚, 力戒浮夸, 更不宜对导师或其他个人进行过分的赞扬 在致谢对象中, 既不能将对自己完成论文提供较大帮助的单位和个人遗漏, 也不能将无关的个人或单位罗列进去 十一 注意事项 ( 一 ) 图 表的编排每个图 表都应有标题 ( 图题或表题 ), 以表 1(Table 1) 表 2(Table 2), 图 1(Fig.1) 图 2(Fig.2) 等形式统一编号 标题内容应简洁明了, 准确恰当, 中英文对照, 相对于图 表居中排列 表题一般臵于表的上部, 图题一般臵于图的下方, 每个图表所提供的信息应能做到自我解释 ( 即不看正文能理解各图表的数据 信息 ) 论文中的表格一律采用 3 线表格式, 表头应简洁, 必要时可加脚注 ( 中英文 ), 即表注 表注用右上角半括号阿拉伯数字或小写英文字母如 1) 2) a) b) 等表示 照片 ( 或图片 ) 要用反差大 图像清晰的原版照片 ( 或图片 ), 或计算机处理的高质量的照片, 不应采用复印图 图上的各种标示 箭头等应符合论文正式发表的规范 表内同一栏的数字必须上下对齐, 表内不宜用 同上 同左 和类似词, 一律填入具体数字或文字 表内 空白 代表未测或无此项, 代表未发现, 0 代表实测结果为零 如数据已绘成曲线图, 可不再列表 当图题不能表达清楚时, 可用最简练的文字将图上需要说明的符号 标记 代码, 以及实验条件等横排于图题下方, 作为图例说明 10

11 图表要运用恰当, 讲求质量, 并注意美观, 在文中适当位臵插入, 力求避免跨页 ( 二 ) 符号 缩写 代号 计量单位和数据的表示 1. 符号 缩略代号论文一律采用标准化的西文符号 代号等, 正确使用大小写 上下角标 正斜体 一般使用西文斜体书写格式的有 : 生物学属及属以下的拉丁文学名 基因名称符号, 用字母代表的数 一般函数及统计学符号, 量符号和量符号中的代表量或变动性数字的角标字母, 如体积 V 浓度 C 以及数学公式等 符号 代号在论文中第一次出现时, 要用括号注明中文名称 对在文中出现次数较多 ( 5 次 ) 的较长的名词, 可以采取缩写 缩写的名词在文中第一次出现时要进行必要的定义, 并将自行定义的缩写列入 缩略语表 ( 或 缩略名词表 ) 2. 计量单位文中计量单位使用新出版的中华人民共和国国家标准 量和单位 中颁布的法定计量单位 如时间单位使用 s( 秒 ) min( 分 ) h( 小时 ) d( 天 ) 等 ; 浓度单位使用 mol/l mg/l 等, 原用的 ppb ppm 克分子浓度 (M) 当量浓度 (N) 等均已废除, 不得使用 ; 面积单位用 m 2 cm 2 hm 2, 而不用 亩 ; 光强用 勒克斯 (lx) ; 辐射强度用 贝克 (Bq) 库 /kg(c/kg), 而不用 居里 伦琴 ; 质量单位用 kg g 或 t, 而不用 斤 等 ; 生物技术中 DNA 以及蛋白质片段的质量单位用 克 (g) 毫克 (mg) 微克 (μg) 等 凡阿拉伯数字后所带单位, 均使用国际通用代号或符号, 如 1 mol 不用 1 摩尔 等 农业科学中有些单位习惯用中文表示的, 与数字组合使用, 采用国际通用代号, 如 3 天 用 3d 5 小时 用 5 h 10 分 用 10 min 13 秒 用 13 sec 表示 组合单位在文字中采用如下写法 : mol/l mg/l ; 转速用 r/min, 不用 rpm 3. 论文中数据的表示方法实验数据的有效位数表示要一致, 有效位数必须全部写出, 如 为 4 位有效数, 不能写成 ; 论文中各种单位的计数计量一律用阿拉伯数字, 如 10 株 3 次重复 不能写成 十株 三次重复 ; 表示参数与偏差范围的数值, 11

12 如 20±2 不能写成 20 ±2 ; 50%-60% 不能写成 50-60% ; 附带尺寸的单位相乘的数字, 如 长宽高 应写成 30m 20m 10m, 或写成 m: , 不能写成 m ; 数字的增加可用倍数和百分数表示, 如 增加了 2 倍 增产 10% ; 数字的减少只能用百分数和分数表示, 如 降低 10% 减少了 1/5 等 ; 公历纪年, 如 1999 年 不能写成 99 年, 也不能用 去年 今年 明年 表示 4. 标点符号的使用文中使用各种标点符号应恰当, 尤其在输入中应注意中英文软件环境的区别, 是中文叙述的文字就应采用中文输入环境下的标点符号, 是西文叙述的文字就应采用西文的标点符号, 中西文标点符号不应混用 英文的标点符号后应空一格 ( 三 ) 特别提示上述各项要求和规范须在学位 ( 毕业 ) 论文撰写和装订中严格执行, 否则, 在毕业论文审查中将视为形式审查不合格, 将退回学生本人, 并不得办理论文答辩的其它手续 本规范未尽事宜, 可参照相关标准及规范执行 12

Structure and Writing Requirements ( 论文结构及写作要求 ) Your thesis should include: Chinese cover, English front page, contents, English abstract and keywords, Chinese abstract and keywords, main body, works cited, acknowledgments and appendixes. It should be bound in this order Chinese Cover ( 中文封面 ) A unified Chinese cover will be given by the university English Front Page( 英文扉页 ) The English front page should include the title, the names of the author and the supervisor, the academic degree that the thesis is for, name of the department and submission time Contents ( 目录 ) The table of contents lists the major chapters and sections of the thesis with the page numbers. 1.4.Abstract and Keywords( 摘要与关键词 ) Abstract Abstract is the main idea of the thesis. It is a brief summary of the research you have carried out. It includes the purpose, the methods, thesis statement, major arguments and the conclusion of the research and its significance. It should be clear and complete. The length of the English abstract is usually 150 words and the Chinese abstract should be an equivalence of the English one. The English abstract should be placed before the Chinese one Keywords Keywords are provided for document retrieval. They should cover the major terminologies used in the thesis. It is the beginning of the thesis Main Body The main body of the thesis should be clear, coherent and logical Conclusion It is the conclusion of the research discussed in the thesis. Your innovative ideas should be emphasized. 32 附件 4 Appendix 2 Requirements and Guidelines for HZAU Thesis and Dissertation (Natural Sciences) A thesis or dissertation is a scientific document presenting the author s findings from their research. This can be done through research and survey, scientific experiments, and engineering designs with the guidance of instructors. The thesis is a vital aspect for college graduation and degree certification. To set a standard for the writing, binding and standardizing of the HZAU thesis and dissertation, students are required to comply with the following specifications in addition to relevant national and departmental standards and norms: I. Structure In general, a thesis or dissertation usually consists of the cover, title page, Declaration of Originality and Letter of Authorization of HZAU Thesis/ Dissertation Copyright, table of contents, abstract (both Chinese and English), the list of abbreviations, body, references, appendices, and acknowledgements. The body is made up of introduction, materials and methods, results and analyses, and discussion. Declaration of Originality and Letter of Authorization of HZAU Thesis/ Dissertation Copyright is placed between the title page and the table of contents. II. Format The thesis or dissertation must be processed with Microsoft Word and be printed on A4 pages (mm: ). Margins should be set to 32mm on the left (for binding), 25mm at top, bottom, and on the right, and 20mm for header and 15mm for footer. Pages with odd and even numbers should have the same margins but in a symmetrical arrangement. Headers and footers should be centered on the page. The font and size of headers should be Times New Roman 9 point. The title of the thesis/dissertation must be placed on the headers of odd-numbered pages and HZAU XXXX(year of graduation) Bachelor s Thesis/Master s Thesis/Doctoral Dissertation on the header of even-numbered pages. The table of contents must be automatically processed and numbered separately with upper case Roman numerals (I, II, III ). The Chinese and English abstracts and the list of abbreviations must have separate page numbers with lower case Roman numerals(ⅰ,ⅱ, ⅲ ). The main body of the text must be numbered consecutively and centered below the 32

33 bottom line of the portrait page with 9 point Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3 ). Headings, subheadings or titles for different levels must have different fonts and font sizes from those of the main body, as well as table and figure captions. The respective fonts and font sizes of headings at the same level and those of the body should be consistent throughout the text in terms of word or line spacing and font and font size. The headings usually have three levels, the first-level heading must be of 16 point SimHei bold, the second-level must be 15 point bold and the third-level must be 14 point bold. Headings of all levels are required to be aligned to the left and coded in the same format (e.g ). Times New Roman 12 point (12 point SimSum in Chinese) must be used for the text excluding headings. The table or figure captions should be lettered in both Chinese and English (11-point bold SinSum in Chinese; 11-point bold Times New Roman in English); words within the tables or figures must be in Times New Roman with 11-point sizing. Avoid putting the last line of a paragraph on a subsequent page and the first line on the previous page (especially for headings). Tables and figures along with their captions and notes are to be arranged on one page for clarity and completion. If a table is too long to be contained within one page, the caption of the table should be repeated and the word continued should be put in round brackets and placed at the upper right-hand corner of the table on the next page. Check the document carefully before submission. Make sure to proofread the entire text and see to it that there are no spelling, writing or formatting errors. No handwritten correction is permitted after the document has been printed and bound. The error rate shall meet the requirement of official publications, less than 1/10,000. III. Cover, Spine and Title Page The cover should include the level of degree (Bachelor/Master/Doctor) and the following content in both Chinese and English. This includes the thesis/dissertation title, student name, student number, major, supervisor s name, title and research orientations, the month and year of submission, etc. The title of the thesis/dissertation should be concise and informative, usually less than 25 Chinese characters. A sample cover is provided in the appendices for reference. Classification number is placed at the upper left-hand corner of the cover and classification level at the upper right-hand corner. The format has been created by the Department of Students Affairs and the Graduate School and students need to add the appropriate corresponding information before printing and binding. The relevant parts on the cover of Bachelor s thesis can be handwritten. 33

34 A bound thesis/dissertation should have a spine, on which is placed the following, the HZAU Bachelor s Thesis/Master s Thesis/ Doctoral Dissertation (three blank spaces), year of graduation (three blank spaces), and the author s name. These should all be in Chinese characters in bold typeface 12 point arranged vertically. A condensed typing can be used to adjust to the width of the spine if necessary. A printed spine is not required for Bachelor s thesis if it is not thick enough. A title page must include the thesis/dissertation title (both Chinese and English), student name, student number, department, major, class, name and title of supervisor, level of degree, research field, etc. (See The Sample of Title Page in the appendices) Ⅳ. Table of Contents The table of contents is the map for the layout of the thesis/dissertation and should be separate from the other sections. It consists of all the headings of the chapters and sections in the document with their corresponding page numbers, such as abstracts and keywords (both Chinese and English), headings of chapters and sections of the body (usually from the first to third level), references, acknowledgements, appendices, etc. All of the headings and subheadings or titles and their page numbers listed in the table of contents must match exactly with those that appear in the body. Make sure that titles or headings of a corresponding level have the same font and font size though titles or headings of different levels have different ones. Ⅴ. Abstract The abstract must include both a Chinese abstract with keywords and an English abstract with keywords arranged in the following sequence- Chinese abstract, Chinese keywords, English abstract then English keywords. This should be placed between the table of contents and the body. An abstract is the epitome of a thesis or dissertation. It is intended to describe clearly and concisely the background research, research objectives, research thoughts and methods, major research content and arguments (results), innovative points and valuable applications, with no notes or comments. The use of symbols, acronyms, abbreviations, etc. must comply with disciplinary norms and regulations. The content of the English abstract shall be basically the same as that of the Chinese one, expressed with correct grammar, idiomatically and free from spelling errors. Keywords, as a part of an abstract, present the major content and the research scope of the thesis/dissertation. They are also the foundation for the thesis/dissertation classification and index. Keywords are generally composed of 3 to 8 independent words or phrases, which 34

35 can reflect the main content and research scope of the text. The Chinese key words are placed immediately after the Chinese abstract. The same is applied for the English key words being placed after the English abstract. The English keywords shall have one-to-one correspondence with those in the Chinese version. Keywords are separated from one another with a semicolon ; and placed right after the abstract in a new line. To increase the quantity of information retrieval, the keywords are better to differ from the keywords in the title. VI. List of Abbreviations The list of abbreviations should be placed after the abstract and before the body, if necessary (Please see Symbols and Abbreviations in Chapter 11 below). The self-defined abbreviations should be listed with their exact meanings used in the document. Abbreviations commonly known to the public shall not be listed. The use of symbols and abbreviations must be in compliance with disciplinary norms and regulations and no deliberate fabrication is allowed. VII. Body The body contains the introduction, materials and methods, results and analyses, and discussion sections. Based on its content, each section can be divided into several sub-sections separated by headings. The thesis/dissertation of graduate students can be divided into several chapters. Each chapter should include various parts such as the introduction, materials and methods, results and analyses, and discussion. References cited in every chapter should be in a unified arrangement at the end of the body section. 1.Introduction The introduction should include basic content such as the origin of the research problem, literature review and the objectives of the research. The origin of the research problem should state clearly the focal problems in science, production and economic construction covered in the thesis/dissertation research as well as the significance of this research on these problems. The literature review should mainly investigate the background of the discipline in regards to the thesis/dissertation research, summarize the research progress, and pinpoint the existing problems. The literature review shows the author s overall understanding and grasp of the results of the relevant research at home and abroad after reading, reviewing, refining and subliming relevant literature. Therefore, the literature review shall include the author s own views and thoughts as well as summarizing previous studies. It must neither be a copy nor a restatement of the previous research. It should also not be an epistemic introduction of a 35

36 textbook. The objectives of the research are the goals that the researcher intends to explain after the academic ideas are elaborated, scientific hypothesis are put forward, and the research questions are raised based on the literature review. 2. Materials and Methods Materials used in the research must be listed in detail such as the biomaterial and its Latin name, variety denomination, strain name, characteristics of the materials related with current research including derivative materials obtained from the materials used in experiments, the population, generation, number of materials, etc. The source of all kinds of materials must be clearly stated. Methods used in the research must be explained in detail in order to link the materials with results and make the experiment repeatable by other researchers following the description.in terms of common methods, the author can cite previous literature and give a brief description.however, for the methods that were improved or invented by the author, elaborations are needed to point out whether the methods used were borrowed from other researchers, invented by the author or improved from previous research. For the improved methods, state clearly what parts of the methods have been improved. Methods should include experiment design, field planting patterns, field management, time and location of the experiment, data collecting (recording), statistical methods and software, and the computer program used as well. 3. Results and Analyses The author must elaborate on the research results. The writing must be clearly presented and well organized, coherent in structure and rigorous in logic. Simple repetition of the materials or unnecessary discussion must be avoided. 4. Discussion The discussion is an important part of the thesis/dissertation that reflects the author s abilities of comprehensive analysis and logical thinking. It intends to refine and summarize major research conclusions based on thorough understanding of the research results, pointing out possible improvements of the research, the scientific problems it has solved, elaborating on its prospects and also to discuss the theoretical along with practical values of the research.the discussion should also point out the limitations and deficiencies of the research and its results, and then offer ideas and suggestions for further research. Students are encouraged to propose new academic views with bold deductions and hypotheses using the experimental data. 36

37 VIII.References References are listed and placed right after the body. They should have a one-to-one correspondence with the references cited in the text. References are listed in a sequential order that follows their citation sequence in the text and they are numbered with Arabic numerals in square brackets in superscript form. If the sequential system is used for footnotes, a computer can generate the circled numbers automatically. When a number of references are cited in the same place of the text, the sequential number of each reference should be listed with a comma, between them and then put together in a pair of square brackets. In the case of consecutive Arabic numerals, the starting number and ending number should be connected with a hyphen. This rule does not apply to the Arabic numerals generated automatically by the computer. When the same reference of the same author is quoted a few times in the body, the page number of the source text must be added outside the square brackets, in which the number of the first citation of this reference in the body is put.
