14 Dar a Idlib Hama Research on the Party Politics of the Syrian Kurds WANG Bo Ph.D, Middle East Studies Institute, Shanghai International Studies University Abstract Since the establishment of the first political party of the Syrian Kurds in 1957, the Kurds political parties have always been the leading force of the Syrian Kurds movement, thought they have experienced differentiation, recombination and alliance for many times. On behalf of the Syrian Kurd people, the Kurds parties have put forward the requirements on different levels, such as maintain the political cultural rights of the Kurds, admit the national minority status of the Kurd people, and render a certain degree of autonomy for the Kurd people. Though they have been suppressed by government for a long time and they also have different opinions on the national affairs with the Syrian opposition faction, the Kurds parties have insisted on their political requirements all the time.
