4. Enhance training opportunities for raising the professional level of staff 加強培訓以提升樹木管理人員的專業水平 Work with the tree management departments to develop training and manpower development plan. We provided different levels of tree risk assessment and other tree management courses to about 5000 staffs from tree management departments per year Closely communicate with local training institutions, in order to provide more appropriate training to the industry Review the admission and retention requirement on the lists of approved contractors Study various methods, eg. Development Bureau will work with the Home Affairs Department and related tree management departments to held 3 half-day guided tours in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories on October to November 2012. On site introduction of some unique trees such as stone walls tree and tree house ; special maintenance work for the OVTs, such as prevention of brown root rot; tree inspection with advanced instruments such as tomograph and micro-drilling resistograph etc. 古樹名木導賞團政府的政策是要優先保護古樹名木 發展局將與民政事務總署及有關的樹木管理部門合作, 在 2012 年 10 月至 11 月於港島 九龍和新界舉辦 3 個為期半天的導賞團 實地介紹一些獨特的樹木如石牆樹和 樹屋 ; 古樹名木的特別養護工作, 如褐根病防治 ; 和先進驗樹儀器如聲吶探測儀和微鑽阻力探測儀的應用示範等 45

Promotion and public involvement Highlighted programmes in 2012 宣傳和公眾參與 2012 的重點活動 Tree Management Office will send letter to the owners' corporations, mutual aid committees, area committees, rural committees, village representatives, property management companies, educational and religious organizations and other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) every year before the advent of the rainy season, urging them to manage their trees properly within their property, in order to ensure the safety of residents, users and visitors.
