This study summarized the rodent pathogen diagnostic records of the National Laboratory Animal Center for customers during a four year period that representing approximately one-tenth of the rodent colonies in Taiwan. There was a continuous increase in demands of pathogen diagnostic service from 00 to 00 with a 0% raise per year. In 00, more than 0% of the mouse colonies were positive for mouse parvovirus, mouse hepatitis virus, Theiler's murine encephalomyelitis virus, and Mycoplasma pulmonis, with a few colonies with infections of pneumonia virus of mice, mouse adenovirus, lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus, reovirus, and Trichomonas spp. In the rat colonies, almost 0% of them were positive for Mycoplasma pulmonis and rat parvovirus, with a few colonies containing Kilham's rat virus, sialodacryoadenitis virus, pneumonia virus of mice, Sendai virus, and Syphacia spp. Journal of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (JAALAS) ~ (ISH) (non-biotin HRP) 梁 鍾 鼎 Murine noroviruses (MNV) are newly identified pathogens which infect laboratory mice. In this study, we found a high prevalence /(%) of MNV in various breeding colonies of immunocompromised, transgenic mouse. All mice survived infection with no signs of clinical disease. MLN samples were collected from animals housed in separate laboratory mouse colonies in Taiwan, and screened using reverse transcription (RT)-PCR. We have determined the nucleotide sequences of novel MNV strains. Furthermore, we sequenced two subgenomic regions within open reading frames (ORFs) and that are suitable for genotyping. Sequence analysis of the fulllength and partial genomes obtained from naturally infected mice yielded valuable data on genetic diversity of murine noroviruses.
