The pressures challenging the Seniors Living Industry today is beyond doubt. Whether it is for residents living in retirement communities or aged care, our Seniors Living industry and society are continuously exploring and seeking better care models for the elderly. As a professional design and consulting rm specialising in Seniors Living, we have a genuine interest in understanding the impact our built environments have on those that live in them. 10 Residential Aged Care When a resident chooses to move into an Aged Care facility it is because they have reached a stage in their life where they need support. Our belief is that the home of choice should assist with support for the things they cannot do rather than stop them doing the things they can do, and allow them to maintain their daily routine. Our aim is to provide quality living, with respect and dignity. How do we design an environment that provides the resident a sense of ownership and belonging? 12 Healthcare & supporting facilities A successful Seniors Living environment is more than just bricks and mortar. It should be about creating a sense of community, an environment that our elderly can feel comfortable and actively interact with each other. How can we through research, analysis, exploration, planning and design deliver such an environment? What level of Healthcare do we need to provide to give them the sense of safety and wellbeing? What leisure and recreation space can we provide to encourage our seniors to be more active? How can we encourage them to better engage with the wider community? How can we introduce Learning environments such as U3A to inspire learning and active lifestyle? V-Arc s multi-discipline experience includes the design of Healthcare facilities as well as support facilities mentioned above and ensures we can provide a wholistic service. 12
