20 Abstract The review on the social network of homogeneity published by M. McPherson et al. has raised deep academic thinking leading to criticism given by T. Mouw who proposed that social networks have the characteristics of homogeneity and endogeneity and social networks may be un-significant in job search. This study reexamined the homogeneity and endogeneity of social networks. The article explains from the source of homogeneity although the preferences of actors are to build a large number of heterogeneous relationship the cost to maintain it is higher and it is hard to respond to the interaction request which leads to the short term life cycle of the heterogeneous relationship therefore long-term cumulative effect leads to the researchers observation that most actors have more homogeneous networks than heterogeneous ones. The author found when the social network has positive functions social network user are the actors with good relations which is Endogenous Type I mentioned by T. Mouw but when the network shows a negative function the capable actors tend not to use the network which is a special Endogenous Type II this research found. Therefore endogeneity proposed by T. Mouw does not have universal application. Stimulation and Extension Relationship between law and society of Homeowners Rights Protection Movement in B city Liu Zixi 83 Abstract This article describes and analyzes homeowners rights protection movement in B city and tries to answer two questions why trajectories of the movement are diversified and how they reflects relationship between law and society. The author argues that in the social transformation of China due to the lack of appropriate social space the law simultaneously plays as rights weapons and rights bottleneck. The tension in such dual properties expands the rights protection movement into social action along three dimensions i. e. organization system and status. Social action in expansion reconstructs the relationship between law and society involved in the movement and accelerates the growth of civil society. Qi and Social Action with Rural Chinese Characteristics A study based on proverbs and traditional operas Ying Xing 111 Abstract Qi is a special notion about social action with rural Chinese characteristics. This article analyses the notion in rural China where the connotation of qi is expressed through proverbs and traditional operas. The author argues that qi is both a motive force of guarding the dignity and molding the personality and some kind of passion that fuses instinct and reason morality and interest. The connotation of qi forms a continuum of passion from a sort of restrained passion to an erupting passion and to the code of brotherhood. In the Chinese traditional culture the principal aspect of its connotation is controlling qi with tolerance the second is 244

Zero-inflated Poisson /Negative Binomial Modeling for Sociologists Based on the analysis of induced abortion in China Wang Cuntong 130 Abstract This study introduced Zero-inflated Poisson /Negative Binomial modeling ZIP /ZINB technique and its applications to the research of social sciences. Hoping to help readers to better understand and feel comfortable to use these analytical tools the author took an example about induced abortion in China to demonstrate major concepts analytical strategies and advantages of ZIP /ZINB modeling technique by comparing the analytical results of ZIP / ZINB with the Poisson / NB results. The Changes of Post-war Japanese Intellectual Communities Zhuge Weidong 149 Abstract The post-war Japanese intellectual community which grew out of associations and publications is a mechanism of social introspection. The way it affects the society is different from that of the establishment. The value orientation of post-war Japanese intellectual community bears an internal connection to Japan 's economic growth and social change in both theory and methodology it has gone from Modernism Marxism Anti-Modernism to a mass-based perspective on histories and social histories. This thesis attempts to examine the transformation of post-war Japanese intellectual communities by tracing the historical use of terminologies like the people the general public and the citizen thereby argues for a specific approach to analyze post-war Japanese intellectual communities and their implications. Space A concept of sociology Zheng Zhen 167 Abstract This paper tries to explore the situation of the concept of space in the history of western sociology and lays open the sources of thought the basic characteristics and the theoretical meaning of the turn of space in contemporary western sociology. This turn understood the concept of space as a social ontological concept absorbed and transcended the objective and subjective theories of space. It criticized objectivism universalism and historicism. But its perspectives of space tangled with Cartesian dualism in different degrees and have been limited by the dualism of time and space.
