Europe is united in its commemoration of the outbreak of the First World War one hundred years ago, and Germany has worked through the consequences of the fall of the Berlin Wall 25 years ago by means of the enormous efforts of an integrative policy. A collective awareness will continually keep the memory alive to meet the challenges of the future. A cultural society needs critical accompaniment and dialogue between cultures. Artists play a special role in this context. They must admonish and warn in their own artistic language. The diversity of art scenes is the gauge of dialogue capability and an indispensable element of urban quality of life. In the coming months we shall offer you a variety of cultural events that provide insight into what is currently moving German society, whether on theatre stages, in cinemas or in the minds of our authors and scientists. Zogen in den fünfziger Jahren viele deutsche Künstler in die Kunstmetropole Paris oder seit den sechziger Jahren nach New York, wählten Künstler anderer Nationen bewusst ihren Lebensund Arbeitsmittelpunkt in Deutschland. Ihre Integration zeigt sich nicht zuletzt daran, dass sie neue bildnerische Impulse setzten, die heute als selbstverständlicher Teil der hiesigen Szene wahrgenommen werden. Neben den Deutschen prägen vor allem diese Künstler, die nach Deutschland immigriert sind, das kreative Leben sie lehren an den Akademien und machen sie für junge Menschen im In- und Ausland attraktiv. Die ifa-ausstellung, präsentiert in China vom Goethe-Institut sowie seinen Partnern, wirft einen anderen Blick auf den Kunstraum Deutschland, an dessen Entwicklung die offene, föderale Kulturpolitik großen Anteil hatte. Über Gattungsgrenzen der bildenden Kunst hinweg stehen Werkgruppen von Armando, Candice Breitz, Tony Cragg, Marianne Eigenheer, Ayse Erkmen, Christine Hill, Magdalena Jetelová, Per Kirkeby, Joseph Kosuth, Marie-Jo Lafontaine, Nam June Paik, Giuseppe Spagnulo und herman de vries für die künstlerische Vielfalt in der transkulturellen Einheit. The sector of fine arts already shows clear signs of the effects of this coming together of cultures: the global village is long since reality here. The artist as a global player, as a wanderer among the various cultures-this has become the very essence of the artist s role today. Whereas many German artists moved to the art metropolis of Paris in the 1950s or to New York beginning in the 1960s, artists from other nations made a conscious decision to (re)locate themselves and their art in Germany. Their integration can be seen in the fact that they have given new impulses, which are today perceived as an integral part of the art scene here. It is above all these artists who have immigrated to this country, who put their stamp on creative life, together, of course, with their German colleagues. They teach at the academies and colleges of art, in turn making them attractive for not only German young people, but those from abroad as well. This ifa exhibition, presented in China by the Goethe-Institut and its partners, throws another light on Germany as a space of art, upon the development of which the country's open federal policy has had a great influence. Transcending the borders put up by categories of art forms, groups of works by Armando, Candice Breitz, Tony Cragg, Marianne Eigenheer, Ayse Erkmen, Christine Hill, Magdalena Jetelová, Per Kirkeby, Joseph Kosuth, Marie-Jo Lafontaine, Nam June Paik, Giuseppe Spagnulo and herman de vries stand for the myriad artistic variety to be seen in transcultural unity. Darin geht es um die Diskussion der Grundannahmen eines Dialogs, der das Prinzip des zwischenmenschlichen Umgangs miteinander ist. Insbesondere im Kulturbereich reden wir von einem Dialog auf Augenhöhe zwischen den beteiligten Partnern. Dies erfordert gerade angesichts zunehmender physischer und digitaler Vernetzung Zeit/Time: , 10:00-18:00 Ort/Venue: Auditorium, CAFA Art Museum Sprache/Language: Chinesisch, Englisch / Chinese, English Eintritt frei / Free Admission interkulturelle Kompetenz. Aus Anlass der Präsentation der Ausstellung Kunstraum Deutschland, die den Einfluss von in Deutschland lebenden ausländischen Künstlern und Künstlerinnen auf die deutsche Kunstszene thematisiert, veranstalten die Central Academy of Fine Arts Beijing und das Goethe-Institut China eine Diskussion, die sowohl chinesische Künstlerinnen und Künstler, die seit den 80er Jahren für einige Jahre in Deutschland gelebt haben, miteinander ins Gespräch bringt, als auch internationale Kuratoren und Kulturpolitiker, die den Wert der Gemeinsamkeit zwischen Menschen und Kulturen im Blick behalten, trotz aller Andersartigkeit und Unterschiedlichkeit des Gegenübers. Nur dann wird die Dynamik von Kultur nicht unterschätzt und Stereotypen und essentialistische Festschreibungen kultureller Merkmale vermieden. Die folgenden fünf Fragen sollen im Vorfeld der Berliner Konferenz in Peking reflektiert werden: inwiefern sind interkultureller Dialog und Kulturaustausch die Voraussetzung zur Ausbildung eines eigenen kulturellen Bewusstseins? Bilden internationale Kulturkontakte Gefahren für den Fortbestand kultureller Besonderheiten? Wo verläuft die Grenze zwischen Kulturaustausch in weltbürgerlicher Absicht und Kulturhegemonialismus? Welche unterschiedlichen kulturellen Traditionen des Dialogs gibt es? Welche Bedeutung haben angesichts der digitalen Evolution reale Orte, persönliche Beziehungen und Begegnungen für den Dialog? or February 2015, the Goethe-Institut is F organising an international conference in Berlin with the title Dialogue and the Experience of the Other. The conference s focus is on discussion of the fundamental presuppositions of a dialogue that has interpersonal dealings based on mutuality as its basic principle. Especially in the area of culture we speak in terms of dialogue on an equal footing between the partners. This in turn requires intercultural competence, particularly in view of increasing physical and digital inter-linkage. On the occasion of the presentation of the exhibition Art Space Germany ( Kunstraum Deutschland ), which has as its theme the influence of foreign artists living in Germany on the German art scene, the Central Academy of Fine Arts Beijing and das Goethe-Institut China are organising a discussion in which both Chinese artists who have lived in Germany for a few years since the 1980 s and international curators and cultural policymakers who, despite all differences with the other, do not lose sight of the value of shared values and interests between people and cultures will be brought together. Only then can the dynamic of culture not be underestimated and essentialist categorisations of cultural characteristics be avoided. Sie bieten Freiraum für künstlerische Experimente jenseits des Kunstmarktes und künstlerische Versuche vor der Einordnung in die Diskurszusammenhänge. An diesen Orten wird Kunstgeschichte ausprobiert, bevor sie geschrieben wird. Anlässlich der 20-jährigen Städtepartnerschaft zwischen Berlin und Peking ist das Projekt Inkubatoren entwickelt worden, konzipiert von dem in Berlin und Peking lebenden Künstler und Kurator Thomas Eller. Das Ziel ist es, die Vielfalt künstlerischer Praxis im Kontext verschiedener Projekträume zu präsentieren und die Begegnung und Vernetzung von unabhängigen Projekträumen in Berlin und Peking zu ermöglichen. The project Incubators was developed as part of the 20th anniversary of the partnership between the cities of Berlin and Peking and conceived by artist and curator Thomas Eller, who lives in Berlin and Peking. The project s purpose is to present the spectrum of artistic practice in the context of different project spaces, and enable encounters and linkage between independent project spaces in Berlin and Peking. Over a period of several days, initiators and artists will exchange views and ideas about their practice, explore shared questions and in a concluding symposium discuss the theme: Beyond the Culture Industry Incubators for a different Art Scene. Neue Kunst aus Deutschland. Sie stellt eine neue Generation deutscher Künstler erstmals in Hongkong vor.
