Demographic Characteristics 1.1 性 別 比 率 是 指 男 性 人 數 相 對 每 千 名 女 性 的 比 率 1.1 Sex ratio refers to the ratio of the number of males per females. 1.2 出 生 時 平 均 預 期 壽 命 是 指 某 年 出 生 的 人 士, 若 其 一 生 經 歷 一 如 該 年 年 齡 性 別 死 亡 率 所 反 映 的 死 亡 情 況, 他 / 她 預 期 能 活 的 年 數 1.2 Expectation of life at birth refers to the number of years of life that a person born in a given year is expected to live if he/she was subject to the prevalent mortality conditions as reflected by the set of age-sex specific mortality rates for that year. 1.3 嬰 兒 死 亡 率 是 指 某 一 年 內 1 歲 以 下 嬰 兒 死 亡 人 數 相 對 該 年 每 千 名 活 產 嬰 兒 的 比 率 1.3 Infant mortality rate refers to the number of deaths of age under 1 in a given year per live births in that year. 1.4 年 齡 性 別 死 亡 率 是 指 在 某 一 年 內, 某 年 齡 性 別 組 別 的 死 亡 人 數, 相 對 該 年 年 中 該 年 齡 性 別 組 別 每 千 名 人 口 的 比 率 1.4 Age-sex specific mortality rate refers to the number of deaths in a given age-sex group occurring in a given year per population at mid-year in that age-sex group. 1.5 年 齡 中 位 數 是 顯 示 人 口 平 均 年 齡 的 一 種 指 標, 人 口 總 數 50% 在 這 年 齡 之 上, 而 其 餘 的 50% 在 這 年 齡 之 下 1.5 Median age refers to the average age so calculated that 50% of the total number of persons were above that age and the other 50% were below it. 2. 婚 姻 生 育 及 家 庭 狀 況 2. 2 2.3 家 庭 住 戶 是 指 一 群 住 在 一 起 及 分 享 生 活 所 需 的 人 士, 他 們 之 間 不 一 定 有 親 戚 關 係 自 己 單 獨 安 排 生 活 所 需 的 個 別 人 士 亦 當 為 一 戶, 即 單 人 住 戶 ( 在 2006 年 中 期 人 口 統 計 及 2011 年 人 口 普 查, 成 員 只 有 流 動 居 民 的 住 戶 不 包 括 在 家 庭 住 戶 內 ) 2.3 A domestic household consists of a group of persons who live together and make common provision for essentials for living. These persons need not be related. If a person makes provision for essentials for living without sharing with other persons, he/she is also regarded as a household. In this case the household is a one-person household. (In the 2006 Population By-census and the 2011 Population Census, households comprising of Mobile Residents only are not included as domestic households.) 2.4 家 庭 住 戶 每 月 收 入 是 指 所 有 住 戶 成 員 於 統 計 前 1 個 月 的 總 收 入 ( 包 括 從 所 有 工 作 獲 得 的 現 金 收 入 及 其 他 現 金 收 入 ) 2.4 Monthly domestic household income refers to the total income (including earnings in cash from all employment and other cash incomes) received during the month before enumeration by all members of the household. 2.5 單 親 人 士 是 指 從 未 結 婚 已 喪 偶 離 婚 或 分 居, 並 與 未 滿 18 歲 子 女 住 在 同 一 住 戶 內 的 人 士 2.5 Single parents refer to persons who are never married, widowed, divorced or separated, and living with child(ren) aged under 18 in the same household. 3. 教 育 及 培 訓 特 徵 3. Education and Training Characteristics 3.1 教 育 程 度 是 指 某 人 在 學 校 或 其 他 教 育 機 構 修 讀 達 到 的 最 高 教 育 水 平, 不 論 他 / 她 有 否 完 成 該 課 程 計 算 教 育 程 度 時 只 包 括 正 式 課 程 正 式 課 程 須 最 少 為 期 一 個 學 年, 入 學 須 具 備 指 定 的 學 歷 資 格 ( 香 港 公 開 大 學 的 非 學 位 副 學 位 學 位 及 研 究 生 課 程 除 外 ), 並 必 須 設 有 考 試 或 指 定 評 核 成 績 的 程 序 3.1 Educational attainment refers to the highest level of education ever attained by a person in school or other educational institutions, regardless of whether he/she has completed the course. Only formal courses are counted as educational attainment. 3 3.2 學 科 類 別 是 根 據 課 程 的 學 術 性 質 而 訂 定, 亦 是 大 學 教 育 資 助 委 員 會 ( 教 資 會 ) 由 1993/94 學 年 開 始, 對 於 高 等 教 育 院 校 提 供 的 學 術 課 程 所 採 用 的 分 類 方 法 3.2 Academic programme categories are constituted on the basis of academic cognateness and have been adopted by the University Grants Committee (UGC) as a classification system for academic programmes offered by the higher education institutions since 1993/ 勞 動 人 口 特 徵 4. Labour Force Characteristics 4.1 從 事 經 濟 活 動 人 口, 即 勞 動 人 口, 可 再 分 為 就 業 人 口 及 失 業 人 口 公 共 機 構 / 社 團 院 舍 的 住 院 人 士 及 水 上 居 民 並 不 包 括 在 內 ( 詳 情 請 參 閱 第 4.3 段 勞 動 人 口 ) 4.1 The economically active population, synonymous with the labour force, comprises employed population and unemployed population. Inmates of institutions and persons living on board vessels are excluded. (Please see "Labour force" in paragraph 4.3 for details.) 4.2 非 從 事 經 濟 活 動 人 口 包 括 所 有 在 統 計 前 7 天 內 並 無 職 位 亦 無 工 作 的 人 士, 在 這 7 天 內 正 在 休 假 的 人 士 及 失 業 人 士 除 外 料 理 家 務 者 退 休 人 士 及 所 有 15 歲 以 下 人 士 等 均 包 括 在 內 4.2 The economically inactive population is made up of those persons who have not had a job and have not been at work during the 7 days before enumeration, excluding persons who have been on leave/holiday during the 7-day period and persons who are unemployed. Persons such as home-makers, retired persons and all those below the age of 15 are thus included. 4.3 勞 動 人 口 是 指 15 歲 及 以 上 陸 上 非 住 院 人 口, 並 符 合 就 業 人 口 或 失 業 人 口 定 義 的 人 士 公 共 機 構 / 社 團 院 舍 的 住 院 人 士 及 水 上 居 民 並 不 包 括 在 內 4.3 The labour force refers to the land-based non-institutional population aged 15 and over who satisfy the criteria for being classified as employed population or unemployed population. 4 4.4 就 業 人 口 包 括 在 統 計 前 7 天 內 從 事 一 些 工 作 賺 取 薪 酬 或 利 潤 或 有 一 份 正 式 工 作 的 15 歲 及 以 上 人 士 ( 即 該 人 士 持 續 支 取 工 資 或 薪 金 ; 或 已 獲 保 證 或 已 有 既 定 日 期 返 回 工 作 崗 位 或 所 經 營 之 業 務 ; 或 正 支 取 補 償 費 而 無 須 接 受 其 他 工 作 ) 就 業 人 士 可 分 為 : 4.4 The employed population consists of persons aged 15 and over who have been engaged in performing work for pay or profit during the 7 days before enumeration or who have had formal job attachment (i.e. that the person has continued receipt of wage or salary; or has an assurance or an agreed date of return to job or business; or is in receipt of compensation without obligation to accept another job). Employed persons can be categorised into: (a) 自 營 作 業 者 : 從 事 本 身 業 務 / 專 業 時 為 賺 取 利 潤 或 費 用 而 工 作, 並 沒 有 受 僱 於 人 或 僱 用 他 人 (a) Self-employed: A person who works for profit or fees in his/her own business/profession, neither employed by someone nor employing others. (b) 僱 主 : 從 事 本 身 業 務 / 職 業 時 為 賺 取 利 潤 或 費 用 而 工 作, 最 少 僱 用 一 人 為 其 工 作 (b) Employer: A person who works for profit or fees in his/her own business/profession and employs one or more persons to work for him/her. (c) 僱 員 : 為 賺 取 工 資 薪 金 佣 金 小 費 或 實 物 津 貼 而 為 僱 主 ( 私 營 公 司 或 政 府 ) 工 作 外 發 工 家 庭 傭 工 和 支 薪 家 庭 從 業 員 亦 包 括 在 內 (c) Employee: A person who works for an employer (private companies or government) for wage, salary, commission, tips, or payment in kind. This also includes outworker, domestic helper and paid family worker. (d) 無 酬 家 庭 從 業 員 : 為 有 關 家 庭 生 意 工 作 而 並 無 收 取 報 酬 報 酬 不 包 括 膳 宿 和 零 用 錢, 但 若 他 / 她 因 工 作 而 定 時 支 取 報 酬, 應 視 為 僱 員 (d) Unpaid family worker: A person who works for no pay in a family business. Food and lodging and pocket money are not counted as pay. 5 4.5 就 業 不 足 人 口 包 括 在 統 計 前 7 天 內 在 非 自 願 情 況 下 工 作 少 於 35 小 時, 而 在 統 計 前 30 天 內 有 找 尋 更 多 工 作, 或 即 使 沒 有 找 尋 更 多 工 作, 但 在 統 計 前 7 天 內 可 擔 任 更 多 工 作 的 人 士 根 據 此 定 義, 因 工 作 量 不 足 而 在 統 計 前 7 天 內 放 取 無 薪 假 期 的 就 業 人 士, 若 在 該 7 天 期 間 內 工 作 少 於 35 小 時 甚 或 全 段 期 間 都 在 休 假, 亦 會 界 定 為 就 業 不 足 人 士 4.5 The underemployed population comprises those employed persons who have involuntarily worked less than 35 hours during the 7 days before enumeration and have sought additional work during the 30 days before enumeration, or have not sought additional work but have been available for additional work during the 7 days before enumeration. Following this definition, employed persons taking no-pay leave due to slack work during the 7 days before enumeration are also classified as underemployed if they worked less than 35 hours or were on leave even for the whole period during the 7-day period. 4.6 失 業 人 口 包 括 所 有 符 合 下 列 條 件 的 15 歲 及 以 上 人 士 : (a) 在 統 計 前 7 天 內 並 無 職 位, 且 並 無 為 賺 取 薪 酬 或 利 潤 而 工 作 ; 及 (b) 在 統 計 前 7 天 內 隨 時 可 工 作 ; 及 4.6 The unemployed population comprises all persons aged 15 and over who fulfil the following conditions: (a) have not had a job and have not performed any work for pay or profit during the 7 days before enumeration; and (b) have been available for work during the 7 days before enumeration; and (c) 在 統 計 前 30 天 內 有 找 尋 工 作 (c) have sought work during the 30 days before enumeration. 不 過, 一 名 15 歲 或 以 上 的 人 士, 如 果 符 合 上 述 (a) 和 (b) 的 條 件, 但 沒 有 在 統 計 前 30 天 內 找 尋 工 作 的 原 因 為 相 信 沒 有 工 作 可 做, 則 仍 會 被 界 定 為 失 業, 即 所 謂 因 灰 心 而 不 求 職 的 人 士 However, if a person aged 15 or over fulfils the conditions (a) and (b) above but has not sought work during the 30 days before enumeration because he/she believes that work is not available, he/she is still classified as unemployed, being regarded as a so-called discouraged worker. 除 上 述 情 況 外, 下 列 人 士 亦 視 作 失 業 人 士 : (a) 並 無 職 位, 有 找 尋 工 作, 但 由 於 暫 時 生 病 而 不 能 工 作 的 人 士 ; 及 Notwithstanding the above, the following types of persons are also classified as unemployed: (a) persons without a job, have sought work but have not been available for work because of temporary sickness; and 香 港 特 別 行 政 區 政 府 統 計 處 376 Census and Statistics Department, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

6 (b) 並 無 職 位, 且 隨 時 可 工 作, 但 由 於 下 列 原 因 並 無 找 尋 工 作 的 人 士 : (i) 已 為 於 稍 後 時 間 擔 當 的 新 工 作 或 開 展 的 業 務 作 出 安 排 ; 或 (ii) 正 期 待 返 回 原 來 的 工 作 崗 位 ( 例 如 散 工 在 有 需 要 時 通 常 會 獲 通 知 開 工 ) (b) persons without a job, have been available for work but have not sought work because they: (i) have made arrangements to take up a new job or to start business on a subsequent date; or (ii) were expecting to return to their original jobs (e.g. casual workers are usually called back to work when service is needed). 4.7 勞 動 人 口 參 與 率 是 指 勞 動 人 口 佔 所 有 15 歲 及 以 上 陸 上 非 住 院 人 口 的 比 例 4.7 The labour force participation rate refers to the proportion of labour force in the total land-based non-institutional population aged 15 and over. 4.8 就 業 不 足 率 是 指 就 業 不 足 人 士 在 勞 動 人 口 中 所 佔 的 比 例 4.8 The underemployment rate refers to the proportion of underemployed persons in the labour force. 4.9 失 業 率 是 指 失 業 人 士 在 勞 動 人 口 中 所 佔 的 比 例 有 關 按 行 業 或 按 職 業 劃 分 的 失 業 率, 由 於 在 計 算 分 子 和 分 母 時,(a) 失 業 人 士 是 按 其 以 前 從 事 的 行 業 ( 或 職 業 ) 劃 分, 因 而 未 必 能 確 實 反 映 他 們 將 從 事 工 作 的 行 業 ( 或 職 業 ), 而 且 (b) 亦 沒 有 首 次 求 職 人 士 和 重 新 加 入 勞 動 人 口 的 失 業 人 士 以 前 從 事 行 業 ( 或 職 業 ) 的 資 料 因 此, 按 行 業 或 按 職 業 劃 分 的 失 業 率 不 能 與 整 體 的 失 業 率 作 嚴 謹 比 較, 同 時 亦 須 謹 慎 闡 釋 4.9 The unemployment rate refers to the proportion of unemployed persons in the labour force. As regards unemployment rates by industry or by occupation, since in deriving both the numerator and the denominator, (a) unemployed persons are classified according to their previous industry (or occupation) which may not necessarily be the one which he/she will enter, and (b) there is no information on previous industry (or occupation) in respect of first-time job-seekers and re-entrants into the labour force who were unemployed, such rates are not strictly comparable to the overall unemployment rate and should be interpreted with caution. 香 港 特 別 行 政 區 政 府 統 計 處 377 Census and Statistics Department, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

7 4.10 行 業 指 統 計 前 7 天 內 受 訪 者 工 作 機 構 的 活 動 類 別 由 1993 年 開 始, 綜 合 住 戶 統 計 調 查 採 用 的 行 業 分 類, 基 本 上 遵 照 香 港 標 準 行 業 分 類 劃 分 香 港 標 準 行 業 分 類 所 採 用 的 分 類 方 法, 修 訂 了 在 以 前 進 行 的 統 計 調 查 中 採 用 的 分 類 方 法 由 2008 年 統 計 年 開 始, 分 類 法 是 依 照 香 港 標 準 行 業 分 類 2.0 版 的 主 要 類 別 4.10 Industry refers to the activity of the establishment in which the respondent worked during the 7 days before enumeration. From 1993 onwards, the industrial classification used in the General Household Survey basically follows the Hong Kong Standard Industrial Classification which is an updated version of the classification used in previous rounds of the survey. Starting from the reference year 2008, the classification follows the major industry groups of the Hong Kong Standard Industrial Classification Version 職 業 指 在 統 計 前 7 天 內 某 人 所 從 事 的 主 要 工 作 種 類 性 質 及 主 要 職 務 由 1993 年 開 始, 分 類 基 本 上 是 按 照 國 際 標 準 職 業 分 類 1988 年 版 的 主 要 組 別, 並 因 應 本 港 情 況 作 出 修 訂 由 2011 年 統 計 年 開 始, 分 類 基 本 上 是 按 照 國 際 標 準 職 業 分 類 2008 年 版 的 主 要 組 別, 並 因 應 本 港 情 況 作 出 修 訂 4.11 Occupation refers to the kind of work, nature of duties and main task performed by a person in his/her main job during the 7 days before enumeration. From 1993 onwards, the classification used basically follows the major groups of the International Standard Classification of Occupations 1988 (ISCO-88), with local adaptation for Hong Kong. Starting from the reference year 2011, the classification used basically follows the major groups of the International Standard Classification of Occupations 2008 (ISCO-08), with local adaptation for Hong Kong 在 中 國 內 地 工 作 的 香 港 居 民 是 指 屬 於 居 港 人 口 而 於 統 計 前 12 個 月 內 曾 在 中 國 內 地 工 作 ( 不 論 在 該 12 個 月 期 間 內 往 中 國 內 地 工 作 的 次 數 及 每 次 逗 留 的 期 間 ) 的 人 士 但 若 只 往 中 國 內 地 洽 談 生 意 巡 視 業 務, 及 / 或 出 席 貿 易 展 銷 會 會 議 和 業 務 應 酬, 則 不 視 作 在 中 國 內 地 工 作 此 外, 往 返 中 港 兩 地 的 從 事 運 輸 業 的 人 士 及 在 中 國 內 地 海 域 作 業 的 漁 民 或 海 員, 亦 不 包 括 在 內 4.12 Hong Kong residents working in the mainland of China refer to persons in the Hong Kong Resident Population who had worked in the mainland of China during the 12 months before enumeration, irrespective of the number of times they had worked in the mainland of China during the 12-month period and duration of stay each time. However, persons who travel to the mainland of China only to conduct business negotiations and inspection of business, and/or to attend trade fairs, meetings and business-related entertainment are excluded. 8 4.13 臨 時 僱 員 是 指 在 統 計 時 由 僱 主 按 日 僱 用 或 僱 用 一 段 少 於 60 天 的 固 定 期 間 的 僱 員 但 在 統 計 時 正 在 從 事 暑 期 工 的 全 日 制 學 生 則 不 包 括 在 內 4.13 Casual employees refer to employees who were employed by an employer on a day-to-day basis or for a fixed period of less than 60 days at the time of enumeration. However, full-time students taking up a summer job at the time of enumeration were excluded 從 事 部 分 時 間 制 工 作 的 僱 員 是 指 在 統 計 時 所 從 事 的 主 業 符 合 下 列 條 件 的 僱 員 : 4.14 Part-time employees refer to employees with their main employment at the time of enumeration fulfilling the following criteria: (a) 每 周 通 常 工 作 日 數 少 於 5 天 ( 適 用 於 每 周 有 固 定 工 作 日 數 的 人 士 ); 或 (a) the number of usual days of work per week was less than 5 (for a person with a fixed number of working days per week); or (b) 每 個 工 作 天 通 常 工 作 時 數 少 於 6 小 時 ( 適 用 於 每 周 有 固 定 工 作 日 數 的 人 士 ); 或 (b) the number of usual hours of work per working day was less than 6 (for a person with a fixed number of working days per week); or (c) 每 周 通 常 工 作 時 數 少 於 30 小 時 ( 適 用 於 每 周 沒 有 固 定 工 作 日 數 的 人 士 ) (c) the number of usual hours of work per week was less than 30 (for a person without a fixed number of working days per week). 但 通 常 每 次 值 班 工 作 時 間 為 24 小 時 的 人 士, 不 論 他 們 每 周 通 常 工 作 多 少 天, 均 不 包 括 在 內 此 外, 在 統 計 時 正 在 放 暑 假 並 從 事 暑 期 工 的 全 日 制 學 生 亦 不 包 括 在 內 However, persons who usually worked 24 hours per shift were excluded, regardless of the number of usual days of work per week. Employment Earnings 5.1 每 月 就 業 收 入 指 統 計 前 1 個 月 從 所 有 工 作 所 獲 得 的 收 入 就 僱 員 來 說, 收 入 包 括 工 資 和 薪 金 花 紅 佣 金 小 費 房 屋 津 貼 超 時 工 作 津 貼 勤 工 津 貼 及 其 他 現 金 津 貼, 但 不 包 括 補 薪 就 僱 主 和 自 營 作 業 者 而 言, 收 入 是 指 從 自 己 擁 有 的 企 業 提 取 作 個 人 及 家 居 用 途 的 款 額, 或 從 業 務 所 得 的 淨 收 入 5.1 Monthly employment earnings refer to earnings from all jobs during the month before enumeration. For employees, they include wages and salary, bonus, commission, tips, housing allowance, overtime allowance, attendance allowance and other cash allowances. However, back pays are excluded. For employers and self-employed, they refer to amounts drawn from the self-owned enterprise for personal and household use, or net earnings from business. 5.2 每 月 主 要 職 業 收 入 是 指 : 對 於 僱 主 或 自 營 作 業 者 來 說, 這 是 指 扣 除 營 運 開 支 後 從 主 要 業 務 所 賺 得 的 收 入 ; 對 於 僱 員 來 說, 則 是 指 從 主 要 工 作 所 賺 取 的 全 部 收 入, 包 括 薪 金 或 工 資 花 紅 佣 金 逾 時 工 作 補 薪 房 屋 津 貼 小 賬 及 其 他 現 金 津 貼, 但 不 包 括 年 終 花 紅 及 雙 糧 5.2 Monthly income from main employment refers to: for employers or self-employed persons, this is the amount earned excluding expenses incurred in running their main business; for employees, this is the total amount earned from their main employment including salary or wage, bonus, commission, overtime, housing allowance, tips and other cash allowances. New Year bonus and double pay are excluded. 5.3 工 資 的 定 義 跟 隨 僱 傭 條 例 對 工 資 的 定 義 概 括 而 言, 包 括 下 列 組 成 部 分 : (a) 基 本 工 資 ; 5.3 The definition of wage follows the definition as adopted in the Employment Ordinance. 10 5.4 每 小 時 工 資 是 把 在 工 資 期 內 付 給 僱 員 的 工 資, 在 扣 除 就 休 息 日 及 不 屬 工 作 時 數 的 用 膳 時 間 所 支 付 的 款 項 後, 除 以 在 同 一 工 資 期 內 總 工 作 時 數, 即 合 約 / 協 議 工 作 時 數 ( 包 括 根 據 僱 傭 合 約 或 勞 資 雙 方 的 協 議, 而 被 視 為 工 作 時 間 的 用 膳 時 間 ) 及 在 僱 主 指 示 下 超 時 工 作 的 時 數 的 總 和 5.4 Hourly wage is derived by dividing the amount of wages paid to an employee in the wage period, with deduction of the payments related to rest days and meal breaks which are not regarded as working hours, by the number of working hours in the same wage period, which is the sum of the contractual/agreed working hours (including meal breaks which are regarded as working hours according to the employment contract or agreement with the employer) and overtime hours worked at the direction of employers. 6. 社 會 福 利 6. Social Welfare 6.1 綜 合 社 會 保 障 援 助 計 劃 是 以 入 息 補 助 方 法, 為 那 些 在 經 濟 上 無 法 自 給 的 人 士 提 供 安 全 網, 使 他 們 的 入 息 達 到 一 定 水 平, 以 應 付 生 活 上 的 基 本 需 要 申 請 人 必 須 符 合 居 港 規 定 及 通 過 入 息 及 資 產 審 查 其 受 助 人 士 指 正 在 領 取 援 助 金 的 人 士 6.1 The Comprehensive Social Security Assistance Scheme provides a safety net for those who cannot support themselves financially. It is designed to bring their income up to a prescribed level to meet their basic needs. An applicant must satisfy the residence requirements and pass both the income and asset tests. Medical and Health 7.1 按 死 因 劃 分 的 死 亡 率 是 以 某 一 組 死 因 的 登 記 死 亡 人 數 為 分 子, 與 同 年 年 中 人 口 數 目 為 分 母 構 成 比 率 ( 按 每 十 萬 名 人 口 計 算 ) 就 某 一 組 死 因 而 言, 按 死 因 劃 分 的 標 準 化 死 亡 率 是 所 有 適 用 於 該 組 死 因 的 年 齡 組 別 死 亡 率 的 加 權 平 均 數 所 採 用 的 權 數 是 標 準 人 口 中 各 年 齡 組 別 人 口 所 佔 的 比 例 7.1 The cause-specific mortality rate is the total number of registered deaths due to a specific group of causes divided by the mid-year population (expressed as per population). For a particular group of causes, the standardised cause-specific mortality rate is a weighted average of the age-specific mortality rates pertaining to that group of causes. The weights used are the proportions of population in individual age groups in the standard population. 7.2 殘 疾 人 士 指 任 何 人 士 (a) 在 統 計 時, 認 為 自 己 有 下 列 四 項 中 的 一 項 或 多 於 一 項 情 況, 並 已 持 續 或 預 料 會 持 續 最 少 6 個 月 的 時 間 : 7.2 Persons with disabilities refer to those persons who (a) had perceived themselves as having one or more of the following four conditions which had lasted, or were likely to last, for a period of 6 months or more at the time of enumeration: (i) 身 體 活 動 能 力 受 限 制 ; (i) restriction in body movement; (ii) 視 覺 有 困 難 ; (ii) seeing difficulty; (iii) 聽 覺 有 困 難 ; 及 (iii) hearing difficulty; and (iv) 言 語 能 力 有 困 難 ; (iv) speech difficulty; 或 (b) 經 認 可 的 醫 務 人 員 ( 例 如 西 醫 及 中 醫 ) 診 斷 有 下 列 五 項 中 至 少 一 項 情 況 : or (b) had been diagnosed by qualified health personnel (such as practitioners of Western medicine and Chinese medicine) as having one or more of the following five conditions: (v) 精 神 病 / 情 緒 病 ; (v) mental illness/mood disorder; (vi) 自 閉 症 ; (vi) Autism; (vii) 特 殊 學 習 困 難 ; (vii) Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD); (viii) 注 意 力 不 足 / 過 度 活 躍 症 ; 及 (viii) Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD); and (ix) 智 障 (ix) intellectual disability. 7.3 習 慣 每 日 吸 食 香 煙 的 人 士 指 在 統 計 時 有 每 日 吸 食 香 煙 習 慣 的 人 士 ( 雖 然 他 們 可 能 因 生 病 或 其 他 原 因 而 在 某 些 日 子 沒 有 吸 煙 ) 7.3 Daily cigarette smokers refer to those persons who at the time of enumeration had a daily cigarette smoking habit (although they might not smoke on certain days because of illness or other reasons). 香 港 特 別 行 政 區 政 府 統 計 處 382 Census and Statistics Department, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

Crime and Justice 8.1 罪 案 是 泛 指 一 些 性 質 較 為 嚴 重 而 需 要 警 方 作 刑 事 調 查 的 指 定 罪 行 8.1 Crimes refer to a group of designated offences which are generally considered more serious in nature and require investigation by the criminal investigation police officers. 8.2 舉 報 的 罪 案 是 指 該 些 由 警 方 分 類 並 處 理 的 案 件 至 於 由 其 他 執 法 機 構, 如 入 境 事 務 處 香 港 海 關 及 廉 政 公 署 所 處 理 的 案 件, 則 不 包 括 在 內 8.2 Reported crimes refer to the cases which are classified and dealt with by the police. Cases which are handled by other law enforcement agencies such as Immigration Department, Customs and Excise Department and Independent Commission Against Corruption are not included. 8.3 犯 罪 被 捕 人 數 包 括 所 有 因 犯 罪 而 被 捕 的 人 士, 不 論 其 最 終 有 否 被 檢 控 犯 罪 被 捕 人 數 的 計 算 方 法 是 按 罪 犯 被 補 的 次 數 而 定 若 某 人 在 兩 宗 或 以 上 事 件 中 被 捕, 會 於 每 次 事 件 中 分 別 記 錄 為 一 個 人 若 某 人 在 一 宗 事 件 中 因 數 項 罪 名 被 捕, 則 只 選 其 中 可 被 判 最 重 刑 罰 的 一 項 罪 名 作 編 製 之 用 8.3 The number of persons arrested for crime includes all persons arrested regardless of whether they are prosecuted or not. The counting rule for persons arrested for crime is based on the number of occasions on which offenders are arrested. If a person is arrested on two or more occasions, each occasion is counted as a separate person. If a person is arrested on one occasion for several offences, the offence with the heaviest maximum permissible penalty is chosen for tabulation purposes. 8.4 吸 食 毒 品 是 指 吸 食 危 害 或 可 能 危 害 個 人 身 體 精 神 健 康 或 其 家 庭 和 社 會 關 係 的 物 質, 而 劑 量 或 服 用 期 超 過 正 常 的 治 療 劑 量 或 服 用 期 被 吸 食 的 毒 品 包 括 海 洛 英 鴉 片 嗎 啡 菲 仕 通 / 美 沙 酮 及 危 害 精 神 毒 品 ( 如 氯 胺 酮 甲 基 安 非 他 明 ( 俗 稱 冰 ) 可 卡 因 咳 藥 和 有 機 溶 劑 等 ), 酒 精 及 煙 草 則 不 包 括 在 內 8.4 Drug abuse refers to the taking of substances which harms or threatens to harm the physical, mental or social well-being of an individual, in doses above or for periods beyond those normally regarded as therapeutic. The information on drug abuse by individuals is provided on a voluntary basis and with the co-operation of the reporting agencies. The Central Information System on Spouse/Cohabitant Battering Cases and Sexual Violence Cases collects essential data on spouse/cohabitant battering and sexual violence cases handled by different organisations and departments to gauge the size of spouse/cohabitant battering and sexual violence problem in Hong Kong. 8.8 新 呈 報 虐 待 長 者 個 案 數 字 是 根 據 呈 報 機 構, 包 括 社 會 服 務 單 位 香 港 警 務 處 醫 院 管 理 局 及 衞 生 署 等 向 由 社 署 管 理 的 虐 待 長 者 個 案 中 央 資 料 系 統 ( 該 系 統 ) 呈 報 的 個 案 資 料 而 編 製 該 系 統 收 集 經 由 不 同 機 構 和 部 門 處 理 虐 待 長 者 個 案 的 統 計 數 字, 從 而 評 估 虐 待 長 者 個 案 在 香 港 的 嚴 重 性 8.8 The number of newly reported elder abuse cases is based on the information reported by reporting agencies such as social service units, the Hong Kong Police Force, Hospital Authority and Department of Health, etc to the Central Information System on Elder Abuse Cases which is under the administration of the Social Welfare Department. The Central Information System on Elder Abuse Cases collects essential data on elder abuse cases handled by different organisations and departments to gauge the size of elder abuse problem in Hong Kong. 9. 參 與 公 共 事 務 的 情 況 9. Pattern of Participation in Public Affairs 9.1 公 務 員 是 指 在 統 計 日 期, 按 公 務 員 聘 用 條 件 受 僱 的 人 員 法 官 及 司 法 人 員 廉 政 公 署 人 員 駐 香 港 以 外 地 區 的 香 港 經 濟 貿 易 辦 事 處 在 當 地 聘 請 的 人 員, 以 及 其 他 政 府 僱 員 如 非 公 務 員 合 約 僱 員, 並 不 包 括 在 內 可 是, 在 1999 年 6 月 的 統 計 期 之 前, 司 法 機 構 內 的 法 官 及 司 法 人 員 是 納 入 公 務 員 範 圍 內 9.1 Civil servants refer to persons who are employed on civil service terms of appointment as at the survey reference date. Judges and judicial officers, Independent Commission Against Corruption officers, locally engaged staff working in the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices outside Hong Kong, and other government employees like Non-Civil Service Contract staff are excluded. In the past Population Censuses/By-censuses, only one person in the household was designated as the household head. However, starting from the 2006 Population By-census, the household might report more than one household head. Geographical Characteristics 11.1 區 議 會 分 區 是 根 據 區 議 會 條 例 ( 第 547 章 ), 全 港 共 有 18 個 地 方 行 政 區 : 港 島 4 個, 九 龍 5 個 及 新 界 9 個 每 個 地 方 行 政 區 均 設 有 一 個 區 議 會, 而 每 個 區 議 會 的 選 區 分 界 則 是 由 選 舉 管 理 委 員 會 向 行 政 長 官 建 議 2011 年 人 口 普 查 時 所 採 用 的 是 按 2011 年 11 月 6 日 區 議 會 選 舉 時 所 用 的 區 議 會 選 區 分 界, 而 該 分 界 是 根 據 2011 年 選 區 ( 區 議 會 ) 宣 布 令 ( 2011 年 第 44 號 法 律 公 告 ), 由 行 政 長 官 會 同 行 政 會 議 根 據 區 議 會 條 例 ( 第 547 章 ) 第 6 條 而 作 出 的 11.1 District Council District refers to the 18 Districts in Hong Kong as declared under the District Councils Ordinance (Cap. 547): 4 on Hong Kong Island, 5 in Kowloon and 9 in the New Territories. A District Council is established in each District. The boundary of Constituency Area for each District Council is recommended by the Electoral Affairs Commission to the Chief Executive.
