3 Foundation Sta. Macrina ARMS is a non-governmental organization settled in The main objective of Sta. Macrina Foundation is social reintegration of children and youth living on the street as well as preventing and diminishing the causes which generate the street children phenomenon by offering a complex of social services which includes: protection, care, education, professional formation and integration. Social services offered by Sta. Macrina are: Day care centre for children at risk which offers: personal hygiene, basic medical assistance, school support, information and education, leisure time activity and two meals (breakfast and lunch); support for about 50 children every day. Residential center for children with ages between 7 and 18, which offers: housing, care, basic medical assistance, education, counseling, support for learning skills for independent life; support for about 25 children Protected houses: for youth coming from orphanages in order to get skills for independent life, professional formation and integration; support for 16 persons

4 Target Groups: children and youth aged from 7-18 years confronted with socio-economic difficulties with various profiles: Children and youth who lived on the streets for a period of time, or newly, children borne on the street and living there with their parents. Children and youth who lives permanently on the street, without any home or education with low contact with their families (often disorganized), or do not even know their parents; Children and youth who spend their days in the streets but are going home during the night. There are also children who are living on the street for temporary periods (depending on the season of year) who often return to their families or to public care institution; Children and youth at risk situations: for different reasons their parents have lost their home; children coming from very poor and numerous families without socio-economical resources or children who are sent by their own families to earn money through begging, prostitution, various forms of labour, stealing, etc. Families of children and youth included in our social services, confronted with poverty and other social difficulties.

5 General objectives: The general objectives for 2010 are: To identify financial sources for keeping all programs running To enlarge the access to social services for a higher number of children and families in need by creating the Community Multifunctional Centre; To prevent the street children phenomenon, the child abandonment and institutionalization; To prevent the school drop-out and to sustain the school reintegration. Specific objectives: To provide an appropriate environment for a fully and a long-term socioprofessional integration for all the beneficiaries assisted in the Foundation; To increase the quality of social services provided trough our programmes; To diversify the social service provided by using all the community resources in order to better answer to beneficiaries' needs.

6 Services provided: - Identify social needs on individual and family level - Information on rights and duties - Measures and action on raising awareness - Social and psychological counseling; pastoral care - Support and assistance for families and children at risk - Informal education - Support and guidance for professional integration - Social and medical care for person in need

7 Is conceived as the first step in order to provide a package of service consisting of primary care and medical and social services for succeeding the social reintegration the Day Centre receive an average number of 50 children and youth daily, from Monday to Thursday Day Centre is focused on educational activities for school reintegration, vocational training, socialization and life skills learning. Divided in groups depending on age and school education level children and youth are involved in various group activities such as: alphabetization, school assistance, information and counselling sessions on various topics depending on their needs. During educational sessions they learn social norms and how to change deviant behaviour, learn about healthy life, child labour and trafficking

11 Children benefit of full service package including: sheltering, medical care, nutrition, school assistance, psychological support and therapy, carrier counselling, informal education, life skills learning, socialization and various opportunities for spending the free time. Hosting children from 7-18 years old, the diversity of needs determined three level of intervention depending on the children age. Children from primary school cycle were included in specific counselling and therapy sessions especially for recovering emotional deficiency due to the separation of the natural family. For teenagers up to 14 years, the behavioural therapy and healthy life were the main topics for the counselling activity. For the youth the counselling sessions contributed to their personal empowerment and helped the in building their personal life project. Using, ceramic and painting as tools for stimulating children individual potential for the social integration, children enhanced their communication skills, imagination and creativity. Two girls included in the project have participated to a youth exchange in France. The youth have organised an exhibition with the Romanian project products and shared the Romanian experience with other youth from the participating countries. A new issue of the project newsletter was drafted and distributed to all the participating countries.

15 Activities: Counseling, information, orientation, evaluation of personal integration project, solving specific problems, conflict resolution Administrative, household activities. Education for health; focus on keeping a healthy environment but also avoiding sexual transmitted diseases. Planning and identifying the financial resources for everyday life.

18 It continued to run as a general component of all accredited services of Sta. Macrina; it s meant to prevent but also to treat, to keep a good state of health for all beneficiaries. This program is run thanks to the partnership with Foundation Aiutare I bambini from Italy; the partnership with this organization is going to end up in December this year. Also several educational campaigns were done: on compulsory medical assistance, preventing sexual transmitted diseases, epidemiological surveillance, treating chronic diseases, respecting hygienic rules, sexual education.

21 Comunity empowerment multifunctional center activities : integrated assistance for mothers and children at risk, for victims of domestic violence, educational sessions, seminars, trainings, community cohesion expected results: Increasing the efficiency of intervention, acquiring skills for independent life, development cooperation with other social actors
