首位獲獎人 1971 - FREDERIK J. PHILIPS(1905-2005, aged 100 ) (Source: Wikipedia) Frederik Jacques "Frits" Philips The fourth chairman of the BOD of his family's business, Philips. His grand-father Frederik Philips was a first cousin of Karl Marx. In 1943, he was held in the concentration camp because of a strike. During the occupation, Frits saved 382 Jews and then was awarded the Yad Vashem reward by the Israeli ambassador in 1996 for his actions. In 1999, he was named Dutch entrepreneur of the century. His home city of Eindhoven celebrated his hundredth birthday by renaming the city as Frits Philips Stad and a special coin was minted which bears the nickname "Fritske". 4

He was a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (1965). A recipient of Willard Gibbs Award (1978) & National Medal of Science (1988). 1974 - CHAUNCEY GUY SUITS Vice President and Director of Research of GE. A founding member of the National Academy of Engineering. His research work concerned non-linear electric circuits, and subsequently electric arcs and high temperature plasma phenomena. 1975 - C. LESTER HOGAN Chairman and CEO of Fairchild Camera & Instrument. He is a pioneer in microwave and semiconductor industry. In 1968 he took eight senior executives (nicknamed Hogan's Heroes) moving to Fairchild from Motorola. This move caused Motorola to sue Fairchild (unsuccessfully) for theft of trade secrets. VAN OVERSTRAETEN President, chief executive officer and founder of the Interuniversity Microelectronics Center (IMEC) which was set up in 1984. He led the development of the world s first, allelectronic digital switching system in the 1980 s. He was also awarded the 2006 IEEE Founders Medal. 2010 - John E. Kelly, III An IEEE Fellow, senior vice president and director of IBM. He leads IBM s 3000 technical employees at 9 labs in 7 countries and has been devoted to forging industry-university partnership for semiconductor R&D.
