17 On the Theory and Educational Practice of Consensus Department of Education, National University of Tainan Abstract This study presents a theoretical and hermeneutic analysis on the theory and educational practice of consensus. Firstly, basing on the theories by M. Foucault, W. Dilthey, J. Habermas, K.-O. Apel etc., language is elevated from interpretative techniques to trans-language of communication understood as a speech act. Next, this study explores the philosophical hermeneutic foundation of the concept of fusion of horizons ( E. Husserl, M. Heidegger, H.-G. Gadamer etc. ), the sociological hermeneutic foundation of the concept of interaction of ego and alter ego (N. Luhmann, E. Levinas, Max Scheler etc.), and the psychological hermeneutic foundation of the concept of perceptive phenomenological phenomena (M. Merlerau-Ponty, N. Chomsky, J. Lacan etc. ). These three explorations enable this study to understand consensus and its educational implication. At last, this study recommends J.-F. Lyotard s post-modern perspective for further studies.
