The pictorial framework represents the philosophy of teaching of the Mother Tongue languages in Tanjong Katong Primary. The heart in the framework refers to the students heart. It represents the love and passion in learning the Mother Tongue language, which includes culture, values and attitude. In order to develop this love and passion to achieve the MT vision and mission, students need to be immersed in a conducive learning environment. The purple house frame depicts the desired learning environment which is enriching, fun and supportive. To achieve this, both parent and teacher need to work together hand in hand which is represented by the hands (parent on the left and teacher on right) in the pictorial framework.

Tips for parents to promote learning of MT at home 陪同孩子一起阅读 Read together with your child. 不要过度纠正孩子的错误 Do not correct child s mistakes excessively. 让他们建立自信心 Build up their confidence 如果孩子们能自愿 自主地使用华文, 他们将能更有效地掌握它 When the child is willing to use Mandarin to communicate and is self-directed in their learning, the child will be able to acquire the language better.
