5 Message from the Chairman Dear Stakeholders, This is the fifth consecutive year that Everlight Chemical has published a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report. Committed to continual improvement, we commissioned the independent standards body and certification company British Standards Institution (BSI) to conduct independent third-party assurance according to AA1000 Assurance Standard (2008) to ensure that the contents comply with Global Reporting Initiative, Sustainability Reporting Guidelines Version 4 (GRI G4) Guidelines and provide correct and complete information for stakeholders. Although Taiwan is not a UN member, we are still part of the global village. We continually keep track of international sustainable development trends and actively adjust to them. At the Millennium Summit in 2000, the United Nations General Assembly signed the Millennium Declaration, vowing to help the world s least developed countries reach eight basic targets, or Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), by the year Judging by the reports published by the UN in July 2015, there was preliminary progress toward all eight MDGs. In September 2015, the UN adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the sustainable development of the international community over the next 15 years (2016 to 2030). The SDGs coincide with many of the targets Everlight Chemical has been working toward, such as: good health and well-being, quality education, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, responsible consumption and production, conservation and sustainable use of the oceans, seas and marine resources, and peace, justice and strong institutions. Everlight will stay true to its goals and carry out its responsibility as a world citizen while pursuing growth. We value the issues that stakeholders care about, as they are important guidelines for the corporation s development strategies. Among the material issues of 2016, our stakeholders biggest concern was compliance with environmental laws and regulations. In 2016, Everlight Group was fined NT$342,000 for violation of environmental laws and regulations. This report contains full disclosure of the incident. However, we still achieved much progress with substantive results in energy conservation, carbon emissions reduction, water conservation, waste reduction, and ecological benefits. Moreover, we set up the Circular Economy Promotion Committee in August With short-, medium-, and long-term strategies, we are reaching our ultimate goals of a circular economy, zero waste, and zero emissions. Also in 2016, we successfully introduced material flow cost accounting, an advanced green accounting system, and received the first ISO verification for our dye products. In the area of the green supply chain, Everlight 3rd Plant completed the independent (SGS) audit site visit by Together for Sustainability (TfS), a major sustainable supply chain advocacy organization, at the end of Emulating world-class major manufacturers, we began implementing Everlight Green Partner (EGP) certification among our upper-tier suppliers. We hope to use our influence to make more and more suppliers understand the importance of protecting our Earth

7 In the area of Corporate Governance, we remained in the top 6-20% of listed companies in the 2016 Corporate Governance Evaluation. We continue working toward the goal of information transparency. At the end of 2015, in cooperation with the Taiwan Stock Exchange at the Stock Market Expo, we organized a much-anticipated roadshow. Before the 2016 shareholders meeting, we uploaded the English version of the notice of the meeting. In terms of protection of shareholders rights and privileges, we have conducted electronic voting for the shareholders meeting for two years. Electronic voters account for over 58% of the shares held by shareholders present at the meeting. In the area of corporate commitments, we consider our staff a major stakeholder of the corporation and hope that every employee is proud to be part of the Everlight family. We encourage harmonious labor relations and teamwork in order to make Everlight one of the best companies to work for. In 2016, the 3rd Plant received the Ministry of Labor s Work-Life Balance Award. Although last year s amendments to the Labor Standards Act were less than ideal, Everlight complies with laws and government regulations to ensure that every employee feels secure in their job and enjoys privileges and protections according to their position. At the same time, we continue to maintain a friendly workplace. In the area of social participation, we actively express our support for the communities where our manufacturing plants are located. In addition to giving long-term support to schools and minority groups in the local area, we also conduct social participation events, such as the 2nd Plant s beach cleaning in May 2016, during which employees and their families removed waste materials from the rest areas along the Guanyin coast over a weekend. Through concrete action, we expressed our concern for marine ecology. In 2016, Everlight collaborated with the Department of Chemical Engineering, Chung Yuan Christian University, to offer a career course. The company provided instructors for the course and summer internships at its three manufacturing plants. The program helped close the gap between college education and career-specific skills and prepared college students for the actual workplace. Becoming a high-tech chemical corporation and contributing to humanity is Everlight Chemical s aspiration. In addition to the focus on our core business and the pursuit of growth of profit, we have always valued reduction of environmental impact. Moreover, we are actively engaged in social participation to promote the development of the community while benefiting our stakeholders. We hope the regular publication of the CSR report will help stakeholders gain a better understanding of Everlight Chemical. Thank you for your support. James Chen June,
