Graduate School of Applied Arts & Design, Shu-Te University A Research for the Form of Mandala StudentHsu Tze-Sui AdvisorsDr. Hong,Ming-Hong ABSTRACT The thesis attempts to explore multiple-aspect forms of related conceptions from the constitution principle of Mandala. The original intention of Mandala icon is to explain the association of phenomenons in universe and the reality of life to all Beings. With the history's evolution, it happened that Mandala icon was influenced by integration of different religious phenomenons, and transformed with various elements. Until now, the forms of Mandala icon are organized intricately and variously. The thesis also summarizes the origins of Indian Buddhism culture that had experienced Theravada Buddhism, Mahayana Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism and the system of certificate and repair which is so called Tantra speech. To explore the principles of Mandala form, we start from the initial Phenomenon development to the figure performance of Four Graceful big shape, and understand the symbols of Buddha-nature significance by the worldview and the theory of Buddha body. And by way of the Five Wisdom-Tathagatas icon's essence, it describes symbolic language expression in spiritual emblem. This thesis also takes the Kalachakra Mandala icon as the example to illustrate how to transfer extrinsic symbols to the emblematic constitutions of intrinsic thoughts in Tibetan Buddhism art.
