They have positive impact on t he local economic develop ment while causing competition with native laborers in job market. Since the ma2 jority of these temporary migrant s have different et hnic and cult ural background, t he in2 teractio n bet ween migrant s and natives has involved wit h et hnic and religio us factor s. L hasa as t he capital city of Tibet Autonomous Region also attracted many temporary mi2 grant s. This paper is t he report s based o n t he 2005 temporary migratio n questio nnaire survey. The paper p rovides a systematic analysis of demograp hic, social and eco no mic characteristics of temporary migrant s in L hasa, and discusses t heir impact on the local so2 ciet y.
