Study on the Author ity of the Grea t Zha sa in the Y uan D yna sty and Its Sta tus in the S in ic L ex L IY u n ian The Great Zhasa was absolutely obeyed by Khans during the GreatMongolian era, which made it the sup reme authority and the highest law. Later, in the Yuan dynasty, due to its suitablility and working for society and the court, its position as the highest law was p rotected by all the emperors throughout the en2 tire Dynasty. It became the legal foundation in the Yuan Dynasty, guiding the nation s legislative struc2 ture, and greatly influenced formulating legislation, p rocedures and content. It was the most essential leg2 islative source for the Yuan dynasty. Under it s power the Yuan Dynasty did not highly emphasise system2 atic legislation as much as other dynasties, but built their legislative base on separate laws on a case by case basis. This encompassed simp le and isolated statutes and judged cases. In that tim e the legislation was focused on making individual statutes and editing the p romulgated statutes and the cases that had been judged. Until the end of the dynasty no published systematic law form ed. This legislation had no typ ical aspects of the Chinese legal system. The Grea t Z hasa created the distinctiveness of legislation for the Yuan dynasty, which contributes towards the many facets of Chinese legislation.
