4 Message from the President Despite extraordinary challenges at the macro-economic level, 2013 was fundamentally a good year for Reed Exhibitions Greater China. The advancements we recorded far outshone the setbacks faced. As a company, we can look back with great satisfaction at how we have positioned the firm for stability and continued growth with new show launches, record attendance figures, all-time high revenues and continued investment in a sustainable way as we maintain our lead in China s exhibition industry. In 2013, across the show floors, we registered significant achievements in many of our exhibitions. When measuring success by exhibition area covered, participant numbers, retention rates, visitor segments and participant satisfaction, a number of events exceled in In addition, new highlights took centre-stage for RXGC in 2013: Reed Huaqun combined with Mart to form a new mega-expo: International Houseware, Premium, Arts & Crafts Creative Design Exhibition; Oceanology International China debuted in in September and our publishing cluster organised the first ever China International Children's Book Fair; a partnership MoU was inked with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Sub-Council (CPIT) to expand our reach across Asia; successful cross collaboration with the launch of IndiaCorr Expo - SinoCorrugated This event has immediately established itself as the biggest event for India s corrugated packaging industry. Recently, we stamped our intention to keep investing into local talent and in the country s exhibition industry by extending our scholarship program for young Chinese locals studying Event Management in the second year. We continue to pioneer this initiative and have expanded the scholarship program throughout China. Reed is the only event organizer in China to show true commitment to the industry by investing into aspiring talents guiding them into a career in event management. This scholarship, together with the Young Talent Program, RMAP and other Reed training initiatives affirm the importance we place on continuing employee development. We want staff to feel empowered to perform at their very best levels and for them to believe that this is the place to achieve even the most ambitious professional aspirations. The road ahead will not be simple but it will be exciting and paved with many opportunities for a confident, agile, innovative and responsive Reed Exhibitions Greater China. The Summit welcomed participants from Reed Exhibitions global management, together with local industry experts. Together, they delivered important speeches and led lively panel discussions on key topics. One such topic was The Game Changer the key element that has revolutionized the exhibition industry. Mike Rusbridge, Chairman and CEO of Reed Exhibitions, Chen Xianjin, UFI Executive Vice President and Wang Zhiping, Chairman of China Foreign Trade Center (Group) led this discussion. Thomas Huang (right), having served with distinction as Acting Vice President of Reed Exhibitions, was promoted to Vice President of the company on February 1, 励展博览集团大中华区公布奖学金计划 Reed Exhibitions Greater China Announces Scholarship Opportunity for 50 University Students 3 月 20 日, 励展博览集团大中华区与北京第二外国语学院联手推出奖学金计划签约仪式 获奖学生有机会在未来的事业生涯中与全球领先的会展主办机构励展博览集团大中华区建立密切的联系 来自北京 和广州等六所大学为奖学金候选者提名 该奖学金将向 50 名学生颁发, 每年的总奖金达到 13.5 万元人民币 该奖学金评估委员会由励展管理层 中国会展教育联合会成员和部分行业专家组成 奖学金将于每年新学年开始的 11 月份由励展博览集团大中华区总裁和中国会展教育联合会会长颁发 Reed Exhibitions Greater China Announces Scholarship Opportunity for 50 University Students To support the development of the country's exhibition industry, Reed Exhibitions Greater China has joined once more with Beijing International Studies University, for the prestigious Reed Exhibitions Greater China Scholarship. The aim of the award is 3

6 to encourage students to pursue academic accreditation in event management and to cultivate their commitment to the exhibition industry. The scholarship, held for the second time, also creates a powerful link to a future career with the global leading exhibitions organizer, Reed Exhibitions Greater China. Six universities from Beijing, and Guangzhou nominated students for the RX China Scholarship. The Scholarship, to be awarded to 50 students, is worth a total of RMB 135,000 each year. The Reed Exhibitions Scholarship Evaluation Committee is made up of Reed management, members of the China Exhibition Education Association and other industry experts. Key exhibitors like Callaway, Srixon, PING, Yamaha, John Deere, Greenman, Toro, Club Car, Baroness, Rainbird and E-Z-Go were among the 450 local and international brands to showcase golfing products and solutions during the event.
