3 一. 会议简介与议题 Conference Introduction and Topics 会议简介国际华人岩土工程师协会是在美国注册的由全球从事岩土工程研究及应用的 以海内外华人为主的国际性学术团体, 代表中国岩石力学与工程学会北美分会 此次 IACGE 岩土与地震工程国际研讨会主题为 可持续发展的岩土与地震工程理论及实践 会议将接收学术论文摘要, 或者全文及工程实例 PowerPoint 报告 会议论文集拟以美国土木工程师协会岩土特别刊物 [ASCE Geotechnical Special Publication (GSP),EI 检索 ] 的形式出版 PowerPoint 报告将收编到 IACGE 网站上 International Association of Chinese Geotechnical Engineers (IACGE) is a non-profit professional organization formed by a group of Chinese and non-chinese geotechnical professionals from the world. IACGE officially represents China Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering (CSRME) in North America. The theme of the IACGE2018 is Geotechnical and Seismic Research and Practices for Sustainability. IACGE2018 will accept abstracts, full papers and/or PowerPoint presentations. Peer reviewed papers are planned to be published in ASCE Geotechnical Special Publications. Some notices follow: (1) Paper requirement The papers must be original and in line with the theme of conference and never has been published in any journal. In addition, the student to be shortlisted must be first author for the participating paper. (The order is based on the finally submitted paper, and the order cannot be adjusted). The eligible participant is authorized to submitted one paper for selection. (2) Selection procedure The interested and eligible author should download the application form for best paper selection and fill in some details. Then, send this form to zhangwg@cqu.edu.cn. The organizing committee will select 6 candidate papers. Based on the paper quality, the presentation performance, as well as the Q&A responses, 3 best papers will be finally determined. 11 五. 特邀报告人 Keynote & Specially Invited Lecturers Keynote & Specially Invited Lecturers Prof. Richard Finno Northwestern University Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Northwestern University. His research interests include adaptive management of excavation induced ground movements, full-scale performance of earth retention structures, non-destructive evaluation and failure processes in soil. He is the author or co-author of 111 peer-reviewed technical papers and 20 technical reports. His work has resulted in recognition from ASCE in the form of the Thomas A. Middlebrooks Award (twice), the Walter L. Huber Civil Engineering Research Prize and the Arthur Casagrande Professional Development Award. He was named the Civil Engineer of the Year by the Illinois Section of ASCE in Presentation title: Designing excavation support to prevent damage to adjacent infrastructure Prof. Ross Boulanger UC Davis Professor and Director of Center for Geotechnical Engineering, department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, UC Davis. Ross research and professional practice are primarily related to liquefaction and its remediation, seismic soil-pile-structure interaction, and seismic performance of dams and levees. His research over the past 25 years has produced over 200 publications. He has served as a technical specialist on seismic remediation and dam safety projects for private, state, and federal organizations. His honors include the TK Hsieh Award from the Institution of Civil Engineers, and the Ralph B. Peck Award, Norman Medal, Walter L. Huber Civil Engineering Research Prize, and Arthur Casagrande Professional Development Award from ASCE. 12 President of ICGdR, Member of JSCE, is a full professor of Earthquake Engineering in Department of Civil Engineering, National Kanazawa University, Japan. He conducted numerous field investigations after large scale earthquakes all over the world, and carried our systematic research on lifeline safety engineering. He has established the database of damage to water supply pipeline and method of prediction of damage. 23 The school of Civil Engineering (SCE), ranked top 8 in Civil Engineering in mainland China, is one the largest and most nationwide recognized schools of Chongqing University. The SCE consists of three departments, nine research institutions and two research centers. The three departments, i.e. the Department of Building Engineering, the Department of Land Surveying and the Department of Fundamentals are set up for the education and teaching development of undergraduate programs. The nine research institutions, including the research institutions for Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Disaster Prevention and Protection Engineering, Bridge and Road Engineering, Engineering Construction, Geology Engineering, Land Surveying Engineering, Architectural Mechanics, and Architectural Drawing, are established for the development of programs, scientific research and graduate education. The administration of SCE is carried out by 8 offices, covering the everyday management of the school in administrative affairs, human resources, research, undergraduate programs, graduate programs, student affairs, international relation and cooperation and marketing development. The SCE has160 faculty members, including 34 full professor and 62 associate professors. In addition, at the SCE, there are two full time academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; two part-time academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Two full time Changjiang Scholars and one Chaired Changjiang Scholar; Two full time Awardees of the National Outstanding Youth Foundation. The SCE offers three undergraduate programs in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying Engineering and Exploration Technology and Engineering. There are 1858 full time undergraduate students at the SCE. More than 20,000 students have graduated from the SCE. The SCE has outreached to establish educational cooperation with nationally and internationally respected companies such as the T. Y. Lin international and China State Construction, etc. for the students to receive professional training in addition to learning on campus.
