Manpower Statistical Report of The 2013 Supplementary Survey on E&M Workers Working in Construction Sites Introduction In the second quarter of 2013, the Electrical and Mechanical Services Training Board conducted its eighth supplementary manpower survey to collect uptodate manpower data on electrical and mechanical (E&M) workers working in construction sites. The collected data facilitated more comprehensive analysis of the manpower situation of the electrical and mechanical services industry. Scope of the Survey 2. For the sake of manpower data consistency, the supplementary survey was carried out in conjunction with the 2013 manpower survey of the building and civil engineering industry. The supplementary survey covered all 1 030 building sites and 487 civil engineering and other sites recorded by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD). Number of Workers Employed 3. The survey revealed that in April 2013, a total of 6 911 workers of E&M trades worked in construction sites. Of the 6 911 workers, 5 926 workers (85.7%) were employed in 209 building sites and 985 workers (14.3%) worked in 99 civil engineering and other sites. 4. At the time of survey, respondents reported only 2 trainees in construction sites, representing 0.03% of the total workforce. 5. The distribution of workers and trainees by job level is as follow: 2
