A preliminary study on the relationship bet ween the human behavior and environment in Qinling2Daba mountain region of southern Shaanxi in Qing Dynasty ZHAN G Li2ren (Center for Historical Environment and Socio2Economic,Shaanxi Normal University, Xi an 710062, China) Abstract :The inadequacy in under standing human behavior spatial characteristics is a main obstacle for st udying t he theories and practice of relationship between man and land in ge2 ograp hy. This paper regards human behavioral humanities in influencing cult ure, custo ms and policy. factors as to correspond to order, making use of the time2space section analysis met hod to st udy t he basic mindset of t he spatial behavior chosen by flowing people in t he Qing Dynasty in southern Shaanxi. The result shows t hat the human space choice behavior follows the close by principle in customs, rat her than superior principle in geograp hic envi2 ronment. The general trend of flowing people s behavior chosen is to seek unit time result maximizatio n. The human spatial behavioral choice enhanced t he exterior co nnectio n of t he human behavioral result in different district s and t he nat ure difference in grade and level, and indicated the defect of simple man2land cause and effect relation seeking only from t he interior of a district or a certain kind of human behavior in a traditional way. Investiga2 ting mut ually affected relatio ns of t he human enviro nmental behavio r f ro m t he point of view of system or a drainage basin is an important way to uuderstand and grasp t he essence and t he mechanism of man2land relations.
