29 2014 93-110 2014/01/06 2014/05/29 * Great Kanto Earthquake from the Official Gazette and the Family Register Precedent Kouichi SAINI 69-7 shinbo, Tsuruga, Fukui 914-0001, Japan There are the many documents about the Great Kanto Earthquake of the outbreak on September 1, 1923, but the chronological order documents are not announced based on a published official gazette in those days. In the electronic library of the Diet library, the official gazette has been shown from 1883 to 1952. I could grasp from this library data that the social situation was settled down from outbreak in about two months. In Tokyo-shi and Yokohama-shi, I recognized the city halls where a copy of a person's family register was destroyed by fire. According to the official gazette data, the main policy was put for the peace and order maintenance at the time of an earthquake occurrence. This situation was calmed down in the middle of September. The next stage became content for the revival. We can know the social influences which the earthquake disaster gave by watching the chronological official gazette. Furthermore, we can research the Great Kanto Earthquake and the relations of the family register precedent by utilizing these data.
