S. Y. (2017). Empowering students in the process of social inquiry learning through The Centre for Learning Sciences and Technologies (CLST) has moved to a new office. Press Conference and Exhibition In fall 2016, CLST held a press conference at the Faculty of Education to introduce its newest research and development, EduVenture VR ( to the media. 4 Research and Development Centres Hong Kong Centre for International Student Assessment PISA 2015 in Hong Kong: Results Released To disseminate the results of PISA 2015 in Hong Kong, a press conference and a school seminar were held on 6 and 16 December 2016 respectively. In these events, Prof. Esther Sui-chu Ho, our Centre Director, and the research team members reported and analyzed the cognitive performance and affective aspects of science, mathematics, and reading of Hong Kong students in PISA We were honoured to have over 380 guests, including secondary school principals, teachers, scholars, and government officials participating in the school seminar. The presentations at the school seminar and the press release have been uploaded to our Centre website for public access. HKLSA: A New Phase Underway Being supported by the Research Grants Council (RGC), the third phase of HKLSA study, which is titled Transition of Hong Kong Young Adults after Secondary School: The Road to Higher Education or Work, aims to examine the patterns of transition and the related factors of young adults from age 20 to 22. The upcoming wave of questionnaire survey is under preparation and will be launched this year. We will also invite young adults who participated in the last phase of the study to conduct focus group interviews in order to collect their views on career and education-related issues. It is expected that this new phase of study will provide insight into how young adults make important educational and career decisions in their post-secondary years. factors associated with group boundary dynamics, intergroup conflict, migrant adaptation and integration. A Science Teacher Seminar for Enhancing Assessment Literacy Our Centre co-organized a science teacher seminar with the Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Education (HKASME) on 28 April this year. The seminar served to enhance science teachers assessment literacy and improve their practice of classroom teaching and student assessment with PISA s state-of-the-art conceptual framework and released items. Our Centre will continue to exploit the rich data from PISA and put them into good use in teacher development. Collaboration in a Migrant Research Project Since February this year, our Centre has collaborated with the Department of Sociology in a research project entitled Migration and Group Dynamics of Hong Kong Youths. This project aims to examine and compare the attitudes towards immigration and the well-being of different migrant groups in Hong Kong.
