S chool of B usi ness, W enz hou U ni versit y, W enz hou , Chi na) Abstract : The research on Wenzhou industrial associations has been an important integral part of t he t ypical cases of Chinaπs civil societ y. Recently, Wenzho u indust rial associatio ns, which are increasing not only in quantity but also in t he socio2economic sp here, are playing an increasingly important role. Developing advantages have endowed Wenzho u indust rial associatio ns wit h a certain degree of particularit y, but t he develop ment of t he market eco no my, local government innovatio n, historical and cult ural t raditio ns, self2organizatio n have undo ubtedly p rovided Wenzhou industrial associations wit h a certain universality. The achievement s and problems of Wenzho u indust rial associatio ns exactly reflect t he instit utio nal characteristics of t he Chinese society. The emergence and develop ment of Chinaπs civil society benefit f rom t he improvement of t he instit utio nal enviro nment which has beco me t he o bstacles of t he f urt her develop ment of indust rial associatio ns. In order to imp rove t he instit utio nal enviro nment of t he civil societ y, which cover s all kinds of o rganizatio ns, t he Chinese government needs to change it s social management system, opening up more roo m for different o rganizatio ns at t he same time. The government sho uld enhance it s regulatio n o n t he social organizatio ns under t he judicial f ramework.
