1 Program Partner: The Chinese University of Hong Kong 1. JA Work Readiness Summer School (New!) Target Participants This is a customized career and life planning program for senior secondary school students who may go to the world of work or pursue vocational studies after HKDSE. The program will be particularly relevant to students interested in design, engineering, entertainment, fire and ambulance services, hospitality, information & communications technology and retail. Employer Partners JA HK will work with up to 10 employer partners in the program, including: Amore Pacific (Korea's largest skincare and cosmetics company owning 30 well-known brands) Circle K Fire Services Department Hong Kong Airport Authority Maxim s Ocean Park Outblaze (a leading digital media company) Participants will choose the employer partner they would like to work with after the Mini Job Fair. Language: Mainly Cantonese, supplemented with English OLE Learning time: 30 hours *On completion of the program, students will receive a certificate and references from the employer partners and mentors. 4 /17 JA Company Programme JA CP seeks to nurture a new generation of entrepreneurial, innovative and civic minded talents for Hong Kong. Participants will have hands-on experience of running a real business, from team formation, capital raising, business plan development, product development, marketing and sales strategy implementation to liquidating the company. JA CP 2016/17 will commence in September. Students (aged 14-18) will form a management team of 6 and work with up to another 20 student members of the company. They will be mentored by two Business Advisors. JA HK will provide a student manual and expert sharing sessions to give guidance to the students. In the JA CP Trade Fair in December, all student companies will set up their booths and sell their offerings to the public. After the Trade Fair, students will have the options of: Concluding their learning in January 2017 (40 OLE hours) Continuing their learning by competing for the Company of the Year and the CEO of the Year in April 2017 (55 OLE hours) Format of Student Participation School-based Track: Students from the same school will form a team. A school Link Teacher will be the co-ordinator to provide administrative support to the students and liaise with the Business Advisors. Open Track: Students can (with parental consent) form school or joint-school teams to learn from the Business Advisors. The coordinator can be a school/ja CP alumnus or a representative of the Parent Teacher Association. Subject to the availability of places, a school may file a school-based track as well as having teams formed under the open track. JA International Trade Challenge & Workshop Your students could be part of the International Trade Challenge this summer to Learn key market entry concepts Enhance entrepreneurship learning, communication and presentation skills Acquire peer-to-peer learning from students in Hong Kong and in Asia Pacific The International Trade Challenge is one of the largest JA student entrepreneurial competitions held annually in the Asia-Pacific region since The Challenge aims to build entrepreneurship and business skills in young people through first-hand experience on international trade, and develop their teamwork, risk-taking and self-confidence. Students in teams of two have to develop a specific product or service and create market entry plan for a designated country. The JA International Trade Workshop is a half-day preparatory activity for the Challenge. Under the guidance of business volunteers and team activities, students will gain hands-on experience on translating their entrepreneurial potentials into cutting-edge innovation and effective market entry strategy. Up to three winning teams of the Hong Kong Challenge will be awarded to enter the Regional Final in August and compete with delegates from seven other markets! SH Did you know... the common health hazards in our daily life or workplace? the key to reduce accidents and injuries? a simple and effective way for relaxation? staying healthy can be an important step to become work ready? SH Workshop@School is co-organized by Occupational Safety and Health Council and JA HK. The workshop promotes safety and health awareness among students and encourages a positive attitude towards maintaining a healthy and productive professional life. The workshop includes a guest speaker sharing safety concepts and health tips, and visits to themed rooms on workplace ergonomics, hearing protection, catering safety, and fire prevention. Students will take part in experiential activities such as fire fighting simulation, hearing test and relaxation exercise. JA Dialogue with Gen Y Leaders Meet Hong Kong s new generation of leaders to: Be inspired by his/her passion and personal experience Understand the opportunities and challenges faced by the new generation of workforce Learn the success factors for a 21st century worker Gen Y leaders are taking the reigns of the 21st century workforce. JA Dialogue with Gen Y leaders enables students to learn from young role models, the leadership and life skills required of them from their future managers. The Gen Y leader will share his/her career path, role models, expectations of a good team member and advice on how to plan future career. Session 1 (1 hour) Financial Planning Learn about the importance of financial planning Work in small groups to work through a month in an adult s life Session 2 (1 hour) Payment and Credit Learn different methods available for paying bills including EPS, PPS, Smart Card and Internet Banking.
