Our MBA founding class will stand on the stage, with their graduation gown, receiving their MBA degrees and wining congratulation applauses from faculty, peers, family members and friends. Business Etiquette Training Successfully Completed CKMBA04 has gone through their three fourth challenging but rewarding one-year journey and will be back to the business in not far future. Like the happiness of a peasant to planting the seed, watering and harvest at the end of a nature cycle, the happiness as an MBA graduate lies in the success after sweating and tears. And the joy of education is in the process of teaching, educating and coaching. Reflecting back the 730 days at CKGSB shanghai campus, we are proud of our excellent MBAs, super professors and dedicated management staff. On 23 rd, July, 11 th, 12 th and 13 th, Aug. 2005, two sessions Image & Manners of Management Executives were successfully conducted to CK MBA 04 participants and CK Shanghai faculty which was reported by JobWeek (Zhi Chang Zhi Nan) Shanghai. This training spans the most important aspects of Image and Manners of Management Executives of global business which will sure facilitate CK MBA participants performance at interview during the recruiting season and facilitate their awareness of the proper behavior and manner on business occasions. On the first day session, topics like different ways of doing introduction, manners for handshaking, smoking, mannerly survival at meeting & conferences, conducting international conference call, business wear workshop, tips on selecting and wearing Business Etiquette training The trainer Ms. Jeannette Ho brought with her various kinds of properties to demonstrate to the students how to perform their selves successfully to gain the credit when meeting connections. CKMBA 04 participants showed great appreciation of the training, they made pleasant comments on this timely training which will definitely facilitate their performance in short term and in the future.

CKMBA Career CKMBA 2005 Job fair On August 28 th, MBA career service office of Cheung Kong MBA Program held the annual MBA Job Fair in Beijing campus. 29 MBA students coming from Shanghai Campus attended the fair and most of them have landed a few interviews in the career fair and several students immediately received invitations from companies for on-site interviews. Eleven companies represented at the 2005 CK MBA Beijing Job Fair. Almost half of the companies attended this event for the first time. Among the attending companies were those well-known multinationals including BP, Shell, Motorola, Microsoft, CICC, HP, Danfoss, Novozymes, Cocacola and leading local firms including Legend Capital, Dangdang.com, etc. We are very happy to have such a great group of students here who are energetic, professional, wellexperienced and having down to earth attitude. CKMBA Mentor Scheme Launched CKMBA Career Management Center (CMC) is happy to announce the start of CKMBA Mentor Scheme. The Mentor Network Scheme is to give our MBA students a chance to be closer to successful people, to broaden their industry/function knowledge, to better position themselves in their career development, and to learn about life wisdoms for their personal development. 4 With strong interest in CKGSB MBA Program, many applicants attended the info sessions in spite of the typhoon in Suzhou and Nanjing. During the info sessions, the attendants expressed strong interest in CKGSB MBA program CKGSB MBA will start in December this year, so the application will still be accepted by mid October. Till now the admitted students are of very high quality, who have average 7 years of working experience and many of whom hold middle management level positions. In addition, the percentage of admitted international students this year has increased significantly. International Applicants After three years of hard work, CKMBA has build up reputation around the world. More and more foreigners have showed great interests in CKMBA, by far, over 50 international applicants has filled in CKMBA online application form. CK MBA 04 participants and 03 alumni will take full initiative in raising the fund. 9 HKMA (Hong Kong Monetary Authority), the First Stop of HK-SG Trip Established in April, 1993, HKMA is Hong Kong s central banking institution. It has four main functions: maintaining the stability of HK dollar, promoting the safety of HK banking system, managing the HK official reserves, and maintaining and developing HK financial infrastructure. This institution occupies the upper part, from the 55 th floor to the top floor, of the highest building in HK, the International Finance Center, implying its special status in HK financial system. HKMA is also famous for its outstanding performance during the Asia Financial Crisis of 1997 and Mr. Yam s the Chief Executive of HKMAsurprising high salary, over 10 million HK dollars per year. In its exhibition room, we received a very detail and professional introduction of HK currency evolution history, the production process of HK banking notes and the day to day operation of HKMA. What impressed me most is the transparency of this special institution. In the one hand, there is a formal commitment from the Chief Executive of the HKMA to appear before the Legislative Council Panel on Financial affairs three times a year to answer questions on the HKMA s work. In the other hand, the HKMA maintains intensive relations with mass media and produce regular and special publications in both English and Chinese. Its also has an Information Center in its office, consisting a modern library and a well-prepare exhibition area, open to public six day a week. The official website of HKMA is bilingual, carries all HKMA publications, press releases, speeches and presentations, in addition to special selections on research, statistics, consumer information and other topics. The transparency arrangements of the HKMA are very close to the international best practices. They will undoubtedly strengthen the HK s roles as an international financial center. As we all know, The Ren Ming Bank, the central bank of China is confronted with a lot of challenges either domestically or internationally. The measures which will be taken by The Ren Ming Bank will probably influence the Chinese economic well being in the next ten or twenty years. At this moment, if the HKMA can provide some useful suggestions from a more international angle based on its rich experience on handling international financial affairs, I think The Ren Ming Bank will feel more easily to deal with those challenges.

10 CKGSB MBAs Visit Hong Kong International Terminals :30 am Sept. 1: We departed from the hotel and went to Hongkong International Termianls (HIT) as planed. After receiving a warm welcome by David Chen, the general manager of commercial, and Margaret Cheng, the general manager of human resources, we had a short but very interesting visit of HIT. HIT is one of the world s fastest and busiest terminals. It adopted a very modern management model and use high-tech computer system (ngen) to provide excellent international logistics services. We first learned the landscape and principle of the firm by watching an introduction video, and then learned more from the insightful speech by Mr. Chen about how the HIT is organized, how is it operation and how is its future development. After that, we experienced the efficient and harmony through a field trip of the MIT container port. In addition, by discussing with and raising question to those professional managers, we went deeper into issue of logistic and professional customer services.

HIT is one of the world s fastest and busiest terminals. It adopted a very modern management model and use high-tech computer system (ngen) to provide excellent international logistics services.

11 CKGSB MBAs Visit Lamma Power Station September 1, 2005, Hong Kong The MBA 2004 Student Group from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business was keyed up continuously by the second day s on-site visiting of the exciting Hongkong/Singapore study tour. They visited, on the morning of September 1, 2005, Lamma Power Station, which is located on a 50-hectare site of Po Lo Tsui at Lamma Island of Hongkong. Lamma Power Station is the power station of The Hongkong Electric Company, Limited (HEC) at present. It supplies power to Hong Kong Island, Lamma Island and Ap Lei Chau with an annual capacity of 3,420 Mwatt. As the second large electric company after CLP Power in Hongkong, HEC has 110 years of energy generating history and serves 35% of electricity demand of Hongkong. The power generated at Lamma Power Station is transmitted through 275kV underground and submarine cables from Lamma Island to Hongkong Island. The operation and monitoring of all generating units is supervised by the computerized Central Control Room of the station. With the introduction by Mr. Terry Yiu, the Public Affairs Officer of HEC, the students were fascinated and impressed by HEC s advanced technology and equipment, as well as great efforts to environmental protection. Although 99% of the fuel used for generating units in the station is coal, Lamma Power Station has endeavored to adopt new measures and devices to keep high standards in air pollution control, noise pollution control, and water pollution control. This on-site tour was really a beneficial experience for all the students to learn the power industry and its social responsibility never closely than before.
