I. Purposes St. Bonaventure College and High School Extra-Curricular ctivities Committee nnual Plan (2002-2003) 1. To help students spend leisure in a meaningful way. 2. To provide opportunities for students to establish hobbies, to develop leadership and to cultivate social relationships. 3. To integrate extra-curricular activities with the school curriculum to help students development morally, academically, physically, socially and aesthetically. 4. To enhance civic responsibility by encouraging students to provide service. II. Issues to be addressed. Strengths 1. Most senior form students are energetic and helpful. 2. Some committee members and club advisers are experienced and enthusiastic in organizing activities. 3. Teachers interest and preference have been considered when allocating their duties. 4. Some students have outstanding performance in internal and external competitions. 5. Professional tutors are hired to help training of members in some EC groups. 6. Old boys are willing to help and assist the running of some EC activities. B. Weaknesses 1. Some student committee members are passive and depend too much on the club advisors. 2. Teacher-advisors are burdened with routine teaching works and running tutorial classes / revision tests after school. 3. Form 6 students have duplicate roles among different clubs/ groups. 4. Places for holding sports activities and large functions are not enough, particularly during the period of public examination. 5. More and more students have to attend external tutorial courses or have to participate in internal school tests and tutorial classes after school. III. Objectives. General objectives 1. To help students develop hobbies and interest. 2. To help students acquire new knowledge and skills. 3. To help students strengthen their abilities in service and leadership. 4. To help students communicate better with teachers and classmates. 5. To help students enjoy their school life. 6. To help students enhance their sense of belonging to school. B. Specific Objectives for the year 1. To enhance F.1 students sense of belonging to SBC and self-discipline by implementation of mass march trainings. 2. To promote IT implementation in EC programs. 3. To assist in the organization of new EC groups such as Joint School Information Technology ssociation, Dance Club, Guitar Club and the foundation of Red Cross.. IV. Implementation Plan 1. The Extra-curricular Committee will help to co-ordinate a. The foundation of dance club, guitar club and red cross; b. Joint E.C.. clubs member recruitment day; c. The transitions of club advisors of bridge and chess club, badminton and tennis team; d. The formation of Joint School Information Technology ssociation (www.jsit.net); e. nnual school picnic arrangement; f. Summer activities; g. Other EC-related programmes upon request. 2. To evaluate and allocate the annual budgets submitted by all EC clubs / groups. 3. Posters and programmes of external EC will be classified and send to advisor(s) of related field for information and actions immediately. 4. Leadership training day / course will be purposed for various EC group executive committee members in next year (2003-2004). 5. E.C.. Guidelines, parent notification form of EC, and Notification letters to the Police Station(s) will be prepared and uploaded to EC homepage (www.sbc.edu.hk/eca). 6. Inter-lodge competition will be organized in co-operation with the Students ssociation. 7. g. Leadership Workshop Workshops will be purposed and organized by some late EC executive committee members for the new F.6 students in late ugust.
