Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, das Land Hessen unterhält seit ca. 28 Jahren eine Regionalpartnerschaft mit der chinesischen Provinz Jiangxi. Der Landesregierung wurde nunmehr das Interesse der Stadt Guixi in der genannten Provinz übermittelt, mit einer Stadt oder einem Landkreis in Hessen eine Kommunalpartnerschaft zu begründen. Guixi hat mehr als 600.000 Einwohner und hat eine Verwaltungsstruktur, die sich nach unserer Terminologie in etwa als "Regionalstadt" bezeichnen lassen könnte. Geprägt ist die Stadt durch eine sehr bedeutende Kupferproduktion und durch landschaftliche Schönheit. Eine Vorstellung der Stadt wurde nur in englischer Sprache zur Verfügung gestellt (Anlage). A Brief Introduction to Guixi City Guixi lies in the northeast of Jiangxi Province. It has a history of 1248 years since it was established as a county in the first year of Yongtai Reign (765 A.D.) of Tang Dynasty and it was upgraded to a county-level city in 1996. It covers an area of 2480 square kilometers and has a population of 611,000. Under its jurisdiction are 21 towns, townships and 7 town-level forestry (reclamation, garden) farms. Guixi is unique in terms of its: Profound History Guixi is the birthplace of the Chinese Taoism. It has been over 1900 years since the first Heavenly Master Zhang Daoling founded the Taoist religious sect of Heavenly Master Taoism at Longhu Mountain here in the second year of Yongyuan Reign (90 A.D.) of Han Dynasty. The Heavenly Master still flourishes and enjoys good fame home and abroad as it is passed down by 65 generations. Convenient Transport Guixi boasts the unique geographical position as a Golden Connection Point of the three most dynamic economic deltas in China, namely the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta and the Southeast Delta of Fujian Province. The three railways, Zhejiang-Jiangxi Railway, Anhui-Jiangxi Railway and Yingtan-Xiamen Railway, run through Guixi City. The No. 320 and No. 206 National Highway and the Shanghai-Kunming Expressway meet here. It takes 1 hour and a half to drive from Guixi to Nanchang Changbei
International Airport. Rich Products The City seat of Guixi is comfortably decorated by its surrounding mountains, rivers and lakes. Guixi is rich in mineral resources, mainly seen in its deposit and quality of silver ranking first in Asia, its deposit of gypsum ranking first in east China, and its deposit of clay and silica ranking first in Jiangxi Province. The forest coverage of Guixi is 63.5%. It is home to the State-level Yangji Peak Nature Reserve and 21 1000-plus meters high mountains. It is a National Commodity Grain Base, a National Grain Reserve Base, the largest jargonel base in south China, a Major Production Material Base in Jiangxi and a Yangtze River Protection Forest Base. Meanwhile, Guixi is home to the Longhu Mountain Scenic Area which is categorized as a World Nature Heritage (Chinese Danxia Landform), a Global Geopark, a National Forest Park and a National 5A-level Scenic Spot. The Heavenly Master s Mansion and the Shangqing Temple, which enjoys the same reputation as the Confucius Mansion in Shandong Province, also lie in Guixi City. Distinctive Industry Guixi is reputed as the Rising Capital of Copper in China and it is also one of the Renewable Resources Recycling Bases in China. Jiangxi Copper Group Company, one of the top 3 copper companies in the world and the largest one in China, is located in Guixi City. As an attached plant to the Jiangxi Copper Group Company, Guixi Smelting Plant is the largest copper smelting plant in
Asia and it produces over 1 million tons of cathode copper every year. An industrial park for dismantling and reutilizing the deserted mechanic and electronic products was established in Guixi, which is the first of its kind in inland China. Guixi s copper industry witnessed rapid growth in recent years. Of the more than 160 enterprises introduced to the Guixi Industrial Park and Guixi Copper Recycling Economic Zone, a great majority are engaged in copper processing. In 2012 the prime operating revenue of copper industry reached 177.3 billion yuan. Guixi is one of the major energy-saving lighting production bases. By taking the Midea&Guiya Lighting Co., Ltd as the leading role, Guixi is striving to build a Lighting Valley in China.
