Case Study in Financial Management Research in China Comments on the Situation during 1999-2003 Wang Huacheng Tong Yan (Renmin University of China Peking 100872) Abstract: Case study is one of the studying methods of social science which is tied up with the contemporary world and suitable for the characters of financial management research. And also, case study complies with the principle of theory and practice. From this point of view, this method is fit into the economic and social environment in our country. This paper reviews on the case study in financial management research in China supported by the articles published by five professional journals Accounting Review; Economic Research Journal; Journal of Finance; Management World; China Soft Science- from 1999 to 2003. Based on this review, the last section discusses several main conclusions: the deficiency of case study in financial management research in our country, the unbalance of the involved theories, the ambiguity of the conclusions and suggestions and so on.
