2014 4 97 610064 330077 Abstract: Historical biography is documentary. Documentation is a prescribed social and cultural characteristic that shows the way historical biography is accepted. Historical biography as the most important and direct source of Chinese narrative literature is a narration of reference which exerts a significant influence upon Chinese narrative tradition. Firstly it makes a development of documentary narration earlier than that of fictional narration eminently manifested in the birth and prosperity of the note novel and biographical literature. Secondly facts are preferred to fiction in literary narration such as the great interest in historical material the creative thinking to embellish a story and the narration of postulating fact. Thirdly documentation in this cultural background becomes a rhetoric strategy from historical biographical narration to literary narration. In general Chinese literary narration under the influence of historical biography shows four characteristics.
