Chinese Journal of European Studies Vol. 29 No. 4 August 2011 ARTICLES 1 Structural Changes of the EU - Russia - US Trilateral Relationship and Its Future Tendency FENG Shaolei The trilateral relationship between the EU Russia and the US is a very important respect of contemporary international politics. The logic underlying the new EU - Russia - US relations after the end of the Cold War cannot be depicted simply as classically geopolitical. Instead a combination of very complicated factors such as the cultural ideas economic - material elements as well as security perceptions is thought to have informed the trilateral relationship which is also the consequence of interactions between the domestic politics and foreign policies of each of the three actors. In conclusion the change of their trilateral relationships announces the arrival of a pluralized international society. 19 An Analysis of the Transformation of Public Diplomacy from the Perspective of Model Evolution ZHOU Qingan As a subject of multidisciplinary studies public diplomacy bears not only the typical characters of international affairs but those of international communications. While carrying out public diplomacy the major powers in the world frequently take the advantage of media as a way to maintain their national interests which has thus become a powerful and effective weapon in conducting their foreign policies. This paper tries by analyzing the five major models of public diplomacy in different countries to explore the possibility of constructing an academic framework for public diplomacy. In addition after analyzing the initiatives channels processes and effects of these models this paper concludes that each one represents a different relationship between a government and the public in a foreign country as well as a different process in use of different media.
