Spatial Pattern of the Worldwide Airports and its Enlightenment WANG Jiaoe, MO Huihui,, JIN Fengjun ( Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS, Beijing 000, China; China Communications and Transportation Association,Beijing 008, China) Abstract: Airports are the base of aviation transport, and their distribution obviously affects the evolution of aviation market and aviation network. Recently, the rapid increase of China s air transport becomes outstanding in the world. Based on the outline of global air transport development, the paper analyzes the distribution of the worldwide airports and concludes as follows: () America and EU are two main regions of aviation transport now; () Asia Pacific will become the most potential regions of aviation. Then the paper analyzes the development of America and EU, and discusses the characteristic of multiairport areas. Finally, the paper concludes several lessons from distribution of multi airport in urban agglomeration, Metropolitan areas and feedairport. Key words: Aviation; Worldwide Airports; Spatial Pattern; MultiAirport Area; MultiAirport City
