30 30 Action Research and Social Work Intervention Ku Hok Bun Hong Kong Polytechnic University Abstract In this article the author intends to introduce the methodology of action research to C hinese audiences and argues that there is close relationship betw een action research and social w ork intervention. T hrough an action research project conducted in a Yunnan village the author demonstrates the practice of action research and let the audiences understand how social workers in action research process responded to the need of local community empowered local people and helped them become the subject of their ow n development.
