I was astonished that my daughter had matured 'overnight'. In retrospect, my daughter was a little girl when she returned to Hong Kong. Back then, she was almost all alone with her schoolwork and teachers. I was anxious that her teenage life would be lifeless and lonely. Not long after, I found that my worries were unnecessary. Smiles were almost plastered on her face and she had become brighter and more outgoing day by day. I was puzzled and she told me that her teachers cared a lot about her and taught her to open herself up to the outer world. She tried hard and found that life was a lot happier than before. I was so relieved that such positive changes had taken place, with the help of teachers at the school. I am so grateful that the school has offered my daughter chances to develop her talents. What is more, she has learned to get along with schoolmates and the bonding is getting stronger than ever. In order to understand the school more, I decided to join the Parent-Teacher Association. This is my third year here and the first as the Chairperson. I am so honoured to be trusted and learn with others together. I will try my best to offer my every effort and contribute to the school and society. I think a harmonious relationship between teachers and students is essential. Nowadays, many parents are becoming overprotective but lack the time and skills to communicate with their children. This is indeed a very unhealthy trend. Every parent should understand that every child is unique. Children come to the world to grow with their parents. Let us help but not hinder them. May I conclude by wishing you all happiness in the new year. 1

It was delicious! 家長講座 : 親子溝通的技術 Parents' Talk: The Art of Communication Ms W. S. Fong, Social Worker of Caritas Family Integrated Service Centre-Aberdeen, was invited to hold the seminar. Parents learned more about the communication skills with their children by means of a case study, reflection and video watching 親子手工班 Handicraft Class To celebrate Father's Day, we organized a Handicraft Class for our students and their families. We had a great time and the crafts looked wonderful 美食茶聚 Tea Gathering After the seminar, PTA members prepared food from different countries. We had a wonderful afternoon. 2

4 1B Keith Matthew E. Rocrero (16) Hi, everyone. I'm Keith, from the Philippines. Our school is very nice. I am in class 1B, and our classmates have different nationalities. It is very good. The social workers always come to our class to have activities with us and teach us things about different countries and cultures. It is interesting and I love it very much. 5A Moona (20) It is wonderful to be a member of the Students' Union. Our team consists of both Chinese and non-chinese members. In the meetings, we discuss the suggestions given by different students and discuss them all together to come up with the best solution. Working together with Chinese members, we have developed a tighter relationship among us. Ms Lau Suet Kuen, mother of Aidan Liu from 3C School life for my son is decent. He enjoys it. The atmosphere of the students and teachers gives off a friendly environment. There is inclusive education of students with different nationalities at this school. Although sometimes the language barrier makes it hard for them to communicate with the local students, the good thing is they can learn about different nationalities without going far. 4C Kyle Delwyn Hipolito Chuasieng (15) Hi, I'm Kyle Delwyn Hipolito Chuasieng. I'm from class 4C. Having a class full of different nationalities is one of the best experiences that anyone can ask for. Although having a class full of different ethnicity may involve a misunderstanding between one another because of language barriers and culture differences. But these differences, miscommunication and misunderstanding don't last because in the end we try our best to let one another understand what we mean. 6 Message from Principal, Mr. Stephen Chan Dear friends of CWCC, May I wish you all God's merciful blessing throughout the year In view of the three-year school development plan for , which focused on enhancing students' academic performance as well as their quality of life, we are so impressed with the good performance of our students. As we have accepted more non-chinese speaking students, for the coming three-year school development plan, we aim at building a multi-cultural learning environment. With four very important areas of concern, namely School Promotion, Academic Development, Student Development and Activities Development, we hope to sustain the mission and vision of Caritas, realized in actual terms of our efforts to build up an even more harmonious campus and to further develop students' academic performance on the one hand; and on the other, to raise students' quality of life as well as to expand students' physical and artistical talents. D3 (2015) Hong Kong Island Inter-School Basketball Competition Championship of Boys A grade Division Three Hand-in-Hand Group Parents Night NCS parents night In the HKDSE 2015, our students achieved very promising results. For instance, Kwan Yu Yu from 6A was, through JUPAS, admitted to the Faculty of Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Lee Po Yu, Siu Ka Yin, Au Hok Wan, Lam Chor Wan and He Lu Lu were also enrolled for further studies in different universities, including Chang Gung University, the Chinese Culture University and the University of Taipei in Taiwan, and Shantou University and Huaqiao University in mainland China. Overall, there were four of our subjects whose pass rate (Level 2 or above) was higher than the average pass rate amongst all candidates in Hong Kong. One of our graduates in the cohort, Lam Sau Ling, graduated from the City University of Hong Kong with First Class Honours with a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Strategic Communication. Apart from academic excellence, our students have also sustained outstanding performance in external competitions. For example, in the 67th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival, one of our students was the champion in English Solo Verse Speaking. Our school basketball team also won the championship of Boys A Grade Division Three, Hong Kong Island in the Interschool Basketball Competition They were also ranked among the top 12 teams in the Hong Kong Nike-lite Inter-school Basketball Competition. Equally encouraging is that Kam Chun Ho from 2B and Lin Han from 6A were each awarded 'Hong Kong Island Highly Commendable Student'. The awards did not only recognize our students' great academic performance and achievements in extra-curricular activities, but also their commitment to serving society. Since 2009, every year the school has been deemed a 'Caring School' by the Hong Kong Christian Service and Hong Kong Association of Careers Masters and Guidance Masters and the Education Bureau, in recognition of our good teacher-student rapport and care for the student population. We believe that the support from parents is of the utmost importance to our teachers and students. Your contribution to the school does help us to instill in our students a selfless spirit of offering back to the community from which they have benefited and to promote mutual understanding among each other. 8 輔導委員會 Guidance Committee 8 Intercultural Moral Leadership Training Day Camp "To love and care for one another, to build a harmonious multicultural campus" is the theme of our Team this year. Through different activities, such as, moral education lessons, talks, group activities, workshops, adventure day camps and visits, we hope that students will be able to deepen their self-understanding, and strengthen their self image and interpersonal skills. It is hoped that these activities will help students in building healthy living habits and establishing correct values which enhance their quality of life in the long run. To assist students of various races to build team spirit, strengthen discipline and develop leadership, our school organized the Intercultural Moral Leadership Training Day Camp on 18th September, Through marching, students learned obedience and discipline. Adventure-based games and "Wash, Cook, Eat. Clean" activities strengthened participants' communication and problem solving skills, building team spirit. The activity thus achieved the key of leadership training "Cooperation- Achieving with hard work". Besides, through the programme, Multicultural Integration Partnership, the Form one students of different cultures were able to understand each other and build team spirit by working together for Multicultural Integration Day in December. It is hoped that a harmonious atmosphere can be established on campus. To strengthen students' concept of life planning, our school organised the Soci Game Day for senior form students on 18th December, Through experiencing Multicultural Integration various stages of life, students learned to make choices, Day reflect on life planning and attitudes when facing adversity. Moreover, the two award schemes of our school, namely, "The Star of Cheng Chung" and "Life Wide Learning", aim at encouraging students to actively engage in campus life and set up goals for themselves. 12 Sports Day 健兒爭取佳績 ! Our Sports Day was held on 20th October, The Cheerleading Teams of all Houses, Yellow, Purple, Green and Red, did an excellent job. The highlights were the Parent-Teacher-Alumni Competition and Inter-school Relay Competition. The Red House won the former and Chong Gene Hang College won the latter. SKH St. Simon's Lui Ming Choi Secondary School won the first runner-up and Caritas Chong Yuet Ming Secondary School won the second runner-up. At the closing ceremony, Mr. Wong Pui Kin, Curriculum Development Office, gave a speech and praised the athletes for their spirit. He also encouraged all students to set up life goals and strive hard to reach them. After the ceremony, all teachers and students sang the school anthem and the activity adjourned in joy and happiness. 12

From your secondary studies, what was the most impressive experience that helped you with your current studying in university? During my 3 years of senior secondary studies, although I put similar effort and strived for my best in all the subjects, there were still big differences in my results. This makes me realize that it is very important for us to understand our own strengths and weaknesses when choosing a subject in university. Even though I have developed an immerse interest in business studies since Form Four, at the end, I decided to take Chinese as my major subject in university since it is my best subject. 2. Can you share your university life with our students? This year, I have to choose my major studies. I have chosen Chinese Language and Literature, which are my favorite subjects. My short term goal is to strive for my best to excel in these two areas. At the moment, I do not have any particular successful personal experience to share with you but I am very happy even when I just attend my lectures and do my assignments. The process of learning is already very fruitful and interesting at the University of Hong Kong as it allows me a lot of freedom to choose what I like to study. 3. Have you planned your future career? What is your long term goal? I have planned my future career. I really want to become a teacher in a primary school or a secondary school. I have a clear and strong long term goal - becoming a devoted teacher. This decision is a culmination of a process of reflection about what I want to do with my life. I want to make every student like my teaching. I believe that I can do it well as I can use my past learning experience to help my students learn effectively. 4. What would you like to say to this year's HKDSE students? I believe that all of you have your own goals or dreams. Do not lose hope even if it seems very unrealistic at the moment. In the future, there are thousands of possibilities. A subtle change of your decision now can make your dreams come closer. Although no one can guarantee your future success when you have put 100% effort at present, at least, it proves that you will never give up fighting for your future life. Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day-in day-out. Also, we are committed to fostering students' diverse talents. In collaboration with Caritas Institute of Community Education, a variety of Applied Learning courses, Western Cuisine, Health Care Practice, are offered to Secondary 5 to Secondary 6 students. 2. 為提升初中級學生的學術基礎 以銜接高中 課程要求 校方除提供免費課後補習班外 更參與區本計劃 以支援不同能力的學生 Our school provides "After School Tutorial Programmes" daily for F.1- F.3 students, helping them with homework and basic revision. Individual help is given to the needy students. The institute also arranged an admission seminar about higher education and professional training in tourism and service industry management in Macau. 16 English Activities English Club by Ms. Luisa Saccone, NET Each year we recruit and train a new group of English Club executive committee members and this year is no exception. Our group consists of ten actively committed members from Secondary 4 and 5. This year the members are; Chairperson SHAH AALIA 5A (24), Vice-chairperson MAIMOONA 5A (20), Secretaries FUNG YEE WA (Ashley) 5A (7) and SHAH RUKSSAR 4C (9), General Affairs Officer, KHAN SAIMA BEGUM (Sam) 5A (13), Publicity Officers, GURUNG PRAPTI 4C (8) and LAGARDE ALEXIS 4C (5) and IT Support Officers, KHAN SHAHWAIZ TAHIR 4C (4), MOHAMMAD ZUAIB 4C (6) and HIPOLITO KYLE 4C (15). They have planned a number of interesting activities for all the students. So far we have had Mid-Autumn Festival, Halloween and Christmas activities where the students were exposed to English songs, riddles, tongue twisters and various language enhancement games and puzzles. This year we introduced Shared Reading where the executive committee took charge of a group of junior students in Secondary 1 to share good reading habits. The program is primarily to develop a good reading culture in the school. The students could listen to stories, read aloud and share their own experiences and thoughts on reading. The activity was very successful and so we are planning more shared reading activities with other levels. We have many more activities planned for the rest of the year, such as Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day and various multicultural events. We are also now gearing up for our big yearly event; English Week. This week is always traditionally a highlight of the English calendar. We will try to make it as fun filled as possible. Our aim is to make learning a second language such as English fun so that our students' English skills can improve. A love of English will hold them in good stead for the future. 18 Liberal Studies Liberal Studies adopts a student-oriented approach. It aims to help students understand themselves, and their relations with others and the environment in which they live. The intention is to enable them to become informed, rational and responsible citizens of the local, national and global community. 18

19 Science Activities STS Science is the study of phenomena and events around us through systematic observation and experimentation. Through science activities, students could develop an interest in science and thus they will be motivated to become active learners in science. Students could also develop an understanding of science, technology and society (STS). They should be able to make informed decisions based on evidence. 20 Activity Education 2, It is a regular subject of the S1 to S5 curriculum (2 lessons per week) The programmes include Sports, Arts and Cultural Education, such as Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Cricket, Wu Shu, Musical Band, Jazz Dance, Hip Hop Dance, Eastern Cultural Dance, Creative Arts, Home Enconoics, Board Games, and Multi Media Production. The activity-based multi-intelligent development programmes are designed according to students' interests and abilities. 20

The 'Reading Reward Scheme' has been in force over the years. Students can complete an entry in their 'Reading Logbook' after finishing a book and; upon the required number, students will be awarded a book voucher and a certificate of commendation as a token of encouragement. In addition, the School Library has also taken part in the 'Popular Reading Award Scheme' organized by the Hong Kong Professional Teachers' Union (HKPTU). A Green, Blue or Purple Pin would be awarded with reference to the student s participation in different reading activities. 陳校長致送紀念旗予笵 建梅老師 Besides, every day there is a session spared for reading called the Morning Reading Period. A Reading Corner has also been set up in each classroom, where a student Reading Ambassador responsible for managing the corner helps promote reading and keeps an inventory of a bewildering array of readers for the students to choose from. During morning assembly, students would also, from time to time, share with and recommend to their peers a book they have enjoyed reading. To further establish a campus rich in a reading atmosphere, the School Library also collaborates with different subject departments and regularly holds book fairs, reading games, sharing sessions by book authors and the like. 計劃考取紫章 同學於閱讀獎勵 21
