3 The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (hkfyg.org.hk _ m21.hk) The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) was founded in 1960 and is now the city s largest youth service organisation. For the last 56 years, it has been committed to serving the youth of Hong Kong through the provision of a variety of services, activities and programmes, which have an annual attendance of over five million. We encourage youth to reach their fullest potential and with community support, we now have over 70 service units. We also have 12 core services, which include the Youth S.P.O.Ts, M21 Multimedia Services, Employment Services, Youth at Risk Services, Counselling Services, Parenting Services, Leadership Training, Volunteer Services, Education Services, Creativity Education and Youth Exchange, Leisure, Cultural and Sports Services, and Research and Publications. We encourage young people to grow into responsible and dutiful citizens and we now have over 200,000 registered volunteers and 460,000 registered members. 4 Hong Kong FLL Robotics Tournament The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups introduced the FLL (FIRST LEGO LEAGUE) to Hong Kong in 2005 and then launched an educational programme called the Hong Kong FLL Robotics Tournament. This tournament provides local and international robotic events for youngsters, over 6,000 students from 180 schools, organizations and education centres have enrolled the competition. Participants in teams, guided by coaches, learn to deal with various challenges by building fully autonomous robots. In the process, they can develop creativity and critical thinking outside their school classrooms. They learn both robotics engineering knowledge and team spirit through solving problems with their teammates. Schools are welcome to nominate teams comprising 5 to 10 students aged 9-16 (Primary Division: P.4 P.6, Secondary Division: F.1 F.4) to join the tournament. The Tournament consists of two major parts: Robot Performance: Teams are required to use LEGO MINDSTORMS kit to build and program a robot to solve the Challenge announced by FIRST. Research Project: Teams are required to research on a theme and give a presentation on their findings. The Challenge of this year is Hydro Dynamics. FLL (FIRST LEGO League) was formed in 1998 by the LEGO Company and its partner FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). FIRST is a non-profit organisation with a mission to inspire the younger generation to celebrate science and technology. 5 香港 FLL 創意機械人大賽香港青年協會於 2005 年引入國際 FLL (FIRST LEGO LEAGUE) 比賽, 在香港舉辦香港 FLL 創意機械人大賽香港 FLL 創意機械人大賽為青少年提供本地及國際的機械人賽事, 自推出以來, 參與學校機構及中心共 180 間, 學生人數越 6,000 人參賽隊伍需製作機械人, 並在教練的指導下, 解決各項挑戰學生除了可以學習機械工程的知識外, 更能跳出課室, 發揮無限創意及鍛練批判思維, 與隊友們共同面對及解決各項難題比賽歡迎學校組隊參加, 當中分為小學組 (9-12 歲, 就讀小四至小六學生 ) 和中學組 (12-16 歲, 就讀中一至中四學生 ) 兩個組別, 每隊可由 5-10 名學生組成比賽分兩大部份進行 : 機械人挑戰 : 隊伍須運用 LEGO MINDSTORMS 電腦套件搭建機械人及設計電腦程式以完成由美國大會發佈的挑戰題目項目研究 : 隊伍須就比賽主題進行專題研究及報告本年的主題是分淼必爭始於 1998 年, 樂高公司及以啟發年青一代對科技興趣為使命的非牟利團體 FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), 於美國創辦 FLL 比賽如欲了解更多有關 FLL 的資料, 請瀏覽以下網站 : 美國網站 : 香港網站 : 4

11 Robot Performance Competition 機械人表現賽 Competition Site: LW112ab Classroom 比賽場地 :LW112ab 課室 Introduction 簡介 In Robot Performance Competition, teams are required to use LEGO MINDSTORMS kit to construct and program their robots to complete 18 Hydro Dynamics Missions. They have to compete in three rounds within 2.5 minutes and only the highest score in these three rounds will be counted. 15 Robot Design, Project Presentation and Teamwork Judgings 機械人設計項目研究及團體合作評審 Judging Registration Counter: Primary Division : IVE (LWL) Building Level 6 Lobby 評審報到處 : 小學組 : 香港專業教育學院 ( 李惠利 ) 樓 6 樓大堂 Robot Design Introduction 機械人設計簡介 Judges will rate the team s robot design according to the programming, structure and strategy of their robot. This award is presented to the team with the most innovative and dependable robot. 機械人設計獎的評判會按隊伍設計的電腦程式機械人結構及策略作出評審此獎項將頒發予機械人設計最富創意及表現最穩定的隊伍 Project Presentation Introduction 項目研究簡介 Teams are required to research on the theme of Hydro Dynamics and have five minutes presentation, in any format, about their exploration on finding, transportation, storage and movement of water. This award is presented to the team with the most creative solution and the most outstanding presentation. 參賽隊伍須以分淼必爭為主題, 準備一個五分鐘的研究報告, 形式不限今年的研究主題要求隊伍探討如何尋找運輸儲備及處理水資源解決方案最創新及報告手法最突出的隊伍將獲得項目研究獎 Teamwork Introduction 團體合作簡介 This award is presented to the team that best demonstrates extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit, exceptional partnership, the utmost respect to their own teammates, as well as support and encouragement of fellow teams. 團隊合作獎項將頒發給在參賽期間最充分發揮熱誠及團隊精神團員間能表現傑出的合作關係能尊重隊員, 以及能鼓勵友隊的隊伍 Reminders 注意事項 : 1) Teams should report to the staff-in-charge at the Judging Registration Counter (shown above) 5 minutes before their competition time. 參賽隊伍必須在比賽開始前五分鐘到評審報到處 ( 上述位置 ) 向工作人員報到 2) Participants are required to show their photo-attached identity documents, e.g. ID Card, Student Card, or Student Hand Book at the Judging Registration Counter. 隊伍需要在進行每個評審前出示有照片的身份證明文件以核對身份, 如 : 身份證學生證或手冊 3) Teams are reminded to bring along equipment and materials needed for all 3 Judgings. 隊伍必須同時帶備三項評審時所需設備及物資 14

According to the Relevance of the theme, Attractiveness and Clearness of Information Presentation of the Poster, teams with outstanding Research Posters will win the Best Poster Award Merit. 隊伍需要為其項目研究設計一張 A2 海報並向公眾展示就海報與主題的關聯性吸引力及資料陳述的清晰程度, 設計出色的隊伍將獲頒發最佳海報優異獎 STEAM Creative Booths STEAM 創意攤位 Venue 地點 LW Level7 P LW 7 樓平台 Introduction 簡介 Various STEAM Creative Booths provide opportunities for participants to learn science and technology via hands-on activities and unleash their creativities. 多個不同類型的攤位, 讓參加者動手學習科學及科技, 並發揮無限創意, 展現潛能! 16

18 LW Building G/F LW 大樓地下 Main Reception 總接待處 All teams must visit the main reception before the first judging or challenge for registration and pick up the name tags and updated information. 在第一次的評審或競賽前, 隊伍必須到總接待處報到, 並領取名牌及最新資訊 Should any emergencies occur, please report immediately to the Information Counter or any tournament officials nearby. 如遇任何緊急事故, 請通知總接待處或任何就近的大會工作人員 LW110abc Classroom LW110abc 課室 Practice Field 練習場區 Fields are provided for practice and teams may schedule their own time to practice. 大會為參賽隊準備了練習場, 隊伍可自行安排練習時間 The number of practice is unlimited but only 2 minutes 30 seconds will be granted in each practice. 測試次數不限, 而每次測試只限 2 分 30 秒 Teams should bring their Robots in the queue, otherwise team may be rejected to use the Practice Field and need to queue up again. 排隊時, 隊員須帶備機械人, 否則將會被取消該次測試機會並需要重新排隊 All teams are not allowed to bring their own Practice Field to HKDI & IVE (LWL). 所有隊伍均不可攜帶比賽場地墊到香港知專設計學院及香港專業教育學院 ( 李惠利 ) LW218 Classroom LW218 課室 Charging Area 充電區 Teams may recharge their batteries temporarily with the receptacles provided in the charging area. 隊伍可使用充電區內大會所提供的插座作短暫充電 LW Classroom & LW Level 7 Podium LW 課室及 LW7 樓平台 Rest Area 休息區 Teams could take a break, and briefly modify their programme as well as the robot in the Rest Area. 隊伍可在休息區內稍作休息簡單維修機械人及電腦程式 This is a common area, please be considerate and keep clean. 這是共同使用的地方, 請保持禮讓及清潔 Level 7 Podium LW 7 樓平台 Poster Display Area 海報展示區 The A2 Posters of FLL teams will be displayed. 19 Other Reminders 其他注意事項 Teams have to wear their name tags during the day of the competition. 所有參賽隊伍必須全日配戴名牌以便進出比賽場區 All participants should always remember of the Core Value of FLL and display Gracious Professionalism, i.e. enjoying the competition, making friends and sharing experiences are much more important than getting awards in the tournament. 參加者必須謹記 FLL 的核心價值 (Core Value) 並發揮專業精神 (Gracious Professionalism ): 享受比賽的過程建立友誼分享經驗比勝出比賽更加重要 The robot design and programming as well as the project research by each team must be original, otherwise score will be deducted or teams will be disqualified. 每隊隊伍所搭建的機械人設計的程式及研究的項目均須原創, 否則將會被扣分或取消參賽資格 Coaches, non-competing participants and audience should not intrude during the competition. They should respect the decision of the Referees and other participating teams, otherwise score will be deducted or teams will be disqualified. 教練非參賽選手及觀眾不能干擾比賽的進行, 並必須尊重裁判的決定及其他參賽隊伍否則將會被扣分或取消參賽資格 Teams must take good care of their personal belongings. 請小心看管財物及器材 Except water, NO eating and drinking is allowed in Practice Field and All Competition Area. 除清水外, 休息區練習場區及所有比賽場地內不准飲食 Please keep the Rest Area clean. 請保持休息區內的清潔 The FLL secretariat reserves the right of final decision on all subject matters of the Tournament. 香港 FLL 大會秘書處保留所有有關大賽的最終決定權 18
