200 2 0 ( 责任编辑 : 刘丽 ) ( ) The Ninety Years Development of Archaeology in China An Jiayao (Archaeological Institute of Chinese Academy of Social SciencesChina Beijing0070) [Abstract]This paper presents the development of archaeology in China in five consecutive periods of time: infant period swiftly booming period abeyance during the Cultural Revolution period recovering and development during the opening-up period and the 'open to public' period. Based on empirical evidence this paper shows the peculiarities and characteristics of each period which contributes to the systematic reviewing of the archaeological developments.
