D esign and Im plem en ta tion of W eb2ba sed Cen sus Cartography System LUO B in, L I Hongsheng, WANG Yingjie, YU Zhuoyuan ( Institute of Geographical Sciences and N atural Resources Research, CAS, B eijing 100101, China) Abstract: According to the business requirement of National State Statistics Bureau in the filed of census cartogra2 phy, design of web2based census cartography system is discussed from different aspects such as system architect, feature request and so on in this paper. Key technical p roblem s like enum eration area dem arcation, online census mapp ing and address coding are detailed and solved based on recentweb mapp ing technology. The main features of the system are identified as generation of background map s, interactive m arkup of point, line and area features, map audition, m ap p rinting and perm ission control. It can fulfill the requirem ents of enumeration area demarca2 tion, data acquisition to buildings as well as other features during p rophase work of census. The dep loyment solu2 tion and imp lem entation of the system is also discussed in the end of the paper. W eb2based census cartography sys2 tem can guarantee the feasibility of fully2digitized census from the technical perspective effectively. D igital spatial2 ly2referenced population framework which is comp letely covered and detailed at enum eration area level can be con2 structed in order to form One Population Map for the whole country with the technology. It will imp rove the ac2 curacy and scientificalness of census cartography and p romote the construction, share and updating of basic popula2 tion geographical information resources if it is app lied in the 6 th census of China.
